Hi Mark. Had a speedy 2 for a couple of years as a project. Can’t get it to run though. Here’s what I’ve done, New cylinder and piston, new gaskets without silicone, crank seals, new 17.5mm carburettor, new reeds and plug and stator coil…100psi compression….it starts if I use a drill to turn the crank but can’t tune it. It’s like the mix and idle speed screws go nothing. 72 jet and choke disconnected.
When it runs if I rev the throttle it kinda of is ok but lacks response and sounds weak….help!

The oil warning light is steady red and the engine doesn’t start neither with kick nor electrical start, the oil is full but the lamp is still red?
Mark I am confused my 2000 50cc speed fight appears to have no oil pump!? Do any models use the suction of the engine to circulate the oil?
Hello, I have a problem, I have a Peugeot Speedfight 1 100cc that recently seized up/heat seized. It was not tuned. I then changed the cylinder, piston etc. It now starts up right away, but after a while it dies all of a sudden (as if you had turned off the key) and then I can start it right up again, this usually happens when I go over 60 km/h or uphill.
When I changed the cylinder etc, I also cleaned everything thoroughly, such as the carburettor, intake, new air filter, new fuel filter (there was no fuel filter before) new spark plug. I also removed the oil pump and put a metalplate with a gasket over the hole instead, I now mix the oil directly into the gasoline.
Some other info that might be important.
- When I drive over 60 km/h, it starts to make a noise from the variator (CVT), it´s sounds quite a lot.
- When it died, I tried to start it again while it was rolling and then it started right away, but it made a noise from the variator, like something "let go" that had been seized up, like a rubber sound, maybe from the belt.
- The variator belt touches the variator cover on the inside and has grinded a cut in the metal.
- In the variator, where the weights are, the belt does not go down to the bottom of the wheel.
- The clutch bell had turned blue from the heat.
- The place where the connecting rod attaches to the crankshaft had turned blue from heat.
- There was no fuel filter on it before. But i now saw there is an internal fuel filter in the gastank, can it affect the vacuum if you now have 2 fuel filters.

I’ve got a 2008 speed fight 100 it was riding fine the other day , I had to change the exhaust as old one snapped the fuse went and I’ve changed it but it keeps bogging out on me it will ride for 10-20 seconds then cuts out on me

@marksavage Do you know how I can remove a stuck gy6 clutch assembly - It spins freely and I got to clutch bell off, but the rest of the assembly won't come off the shaft. I've tried wiggling, pulling, praying, and it won't come off. :(
Sounds like it's heat seized on bud
Loads of wd40 and I clutch puller
Or heat up and tap
I've had to replace the shaft before bud

Hi Mark, thanks for your video very informative. Id like to ask you about my Speedfight 2, just cleaned the carburettor twice it run but when riding it and giving full gas it would die until stalls. Then i opened the variator chamber and cleaned everything, then mount only two screws of the lid to hold it only and tried to start it and since then it would not even start. Spark plug makes spark and gasoline is reaching the piston so its strange and i dont know why its not even starting. Any ideas? Any feedback would be highly appreciated buds thank you in beforehand
fit more bolts to hold the cover on bud ,thats a must
take carb off again , annoying i know
check float is letting fuel in and that it stops . like in my videos on carbs
check vacuum is ok too
clean carb with carb cleaner make sure it back together right as in my videos and test and back tight !
clean plug and air then
prime carb and see if it starts ok

Any advice would be appreciated im having trouble starting my speedfighter 2 when I turn the key nothing at all works no lights no horn and the back break light doesn’t turn on and the electric start button when pressed in does nothing not even a noise been broke for a month it used to work after I kick started it and all come back to life and it would make the electric start work but now my kickstart is broke I’ve watched a coulple off videos here and there and there’s nothing helping me would be really nice to get your options on what the problem could be
there is a play list on my channel with 100 videos that will help a lot bud , no power , battery , fuse, volt regulator , stator coil and the loom , even the key system, all panels off and start to look bud
I am fed up .renewed engine seal's new piston and head new spark plug and HT lead new CDI /VOTAGE RECTIFIER/RELAY/ OIL PUMP/ My SPEEDFIGHT 3 50 cc LC still has the oil can light on and will not start even bought and fitted a new stator basically built a new complete engine .waiting to get a starter switch through the post .Does the oil can light go off once the scooter starts running OR should it come on the off when you turn the ignition on .

Hi mark, love watching the speed fight videos as I’m doing one up for my son, but could you tell me where the 2 pipes are to go on the front of the engine block ? It has delorrto cb1 on it.
theres 100 speedfight videos on a play list so one should have the pipes your are talking about but lets see
is it manual or electric oil 2t pump
you have the vacuum connected one to the carb the other to the inlet manifold
2t oil from the head tank goes to the 2t oil pump
there is a GRV pipe that then goes to the exhaust
just block that off if that it
@@marksavage I have the electric oil pump under the floor panel and I have that connected to the side of the carb. So it’s not really needed ?

What should i do if i have left it sit dor couple days and now it wont start it gives spark i cleaned carb, and there is compresion why it isnt starting?
Carb bud, they do this
Take off service and check for leaks
Change fuel pipes
And gaskets if need be
i will just try my luck here . Sr 50 (piaggio lc engine) Sometimes hard to start . like if it fails to start i need wait few min and try again . sometimes im lucky i can kickstart it if didnt start on electric . should i try the air/mix screw ? have like 1300km on it and all standard 45km/h moped .
carb model ? if so jet bud , re jet it and tune as your flooding it
take it you have service it and new plug etc
as check your carb isnt leaking and on tight and serviced

I just bought a speedfight 2 to get to work on was working fine I rode it about a mile in total and it completely cut out
New piston fitted
Carb cleaned
It’s sparking
It’s getting fuel
Battery was dead electric start didn’t work so I jumped it and electric start horn and all lights started to work but it didn’t start the bike up.
Checked all wires everything looks okay (we think)
head off and check piston , did you 2t oil the piston like on my videos

I have speedfight 2 50 cc but I putted kit 70, so I have a problem with cold start/airbox.
With airbox it wouldn’t start but when I remove airbox and put hand next to carburator where he gets air than starts normallly…

Carb problems after the 70cc bud as you know
Now the hard part ,get you self a set of jets for 60 to 80 and try each one to set and then tune
It's not fun and maybe look at a 19mm then tune as your 17.5 carb doesn't like it at all

Hi mark, I’ve had my speedfight 2 sat for a while and decided to try and get it running again, I’ve changed
Spark plug
Battery
Fuel lines
Fuel tap
And cleaned the carb
Drained the fuel and put fresh fuel in.
It will start but then bog/cut out when I pull the throttle.. any ideas? It’s only done 10k miles

check vacuum and fuel lines ,if hard change
Thanks! I ended up just buying a new carb for it, it’s running now but leaking fuel so I’m guessing it just needs a little adjustment to get it right.
just a guess the hole in exhaust was prob a wired spark plug to the wires that was cut for
a make shift diy exhaust flame kit lol
on the original speedfight exhaust the have a GRV for the environment, they do nothing so always best to cut of or tap round

Hi Mark Nice to see you still dooing the videos on the speedfights. Q for you how easy is it to swap a speedfight 1 100cc 1999 engine and wheel on to a speedfight 2001? have you ever done this? Also thanks for the tip about E10 in Australia we have had it for years so i WONT be putting that in the sppedfight! would you say also avoid it with a kawasaki ninja 2013? "

Hey what cuoldve happen i changed the exhaust gasket poured some gas and it started but after a cuople minutes of riding it just died and dont start again. The engine cranks theres compression, fuel i dont know what to do anymore
sometimes you may have to upjet, i'd clean carb, new plug and clean air filter and see how you get on , are you using E10 OR E5

Hi Mark, I don’t suppose I could pay you to fix my old speedfight 2. I’m the only owner of it bought brand new in 2006 and it hasn’t ran since 2008. I had a garage take a look at it as it was a mess when I stored it and they have butchered it more. Needs new crank and all sorts. May make some new content for the channel. As it’s a mess. The garage brought it back saying they didn’t have time to work on it (and didn’t charge me) but I’ve looked when they returned it and it’s got chipped bits on the block and the crank has crossed threaded ends so you can’t kick start as it seizes the kick start, they’ve had the engine apart so maybe they’ve reused old gaskets. It needs a full rebuild and I just want to pay someone who is capable like you are(more than) to get it up and running to its former glory. It’s for the memories really of when I was 16.

You would be better getting a running 2nd engine as that's what I'd do
Plus as you've had it since new it would be nice to get it back on the road

Hi Mark, I’ve since bought a 2nd engine from eBay. It said in the advert it was a running engine. I’ve got it and it starts then dies I’ve changed to a new carb because the threads wouldn’t tighten up, but still no joy. I’ve checked your videos and I can’t understand what it can be. It does have a 70cc kit on it so I’m going to change back to a 50 kit. Hoping it’s piston related rather than oil seals. I’m in Manchester

it was a complete engine same as you had in yours so wiring loom fitted all ok , as for the card your cable carb top may have need changing as they did a few different carbs, look back at the carb bud, did you put back in the old jet as it would have been set up to the engine , ok now ...... you know i hate 70c kits as they dont last and set up can be a real pain and prob your problem . i do have a 100 on the play list and sure ive covered set up of carb - as in air mix and needle , reeds , and piston replacement many time over lol .. if it starts and dies its often carb but did you check spark colour as in blue , and set up as it was before , maybe ask the seller for more info on the engine and running video , but odd why would you take out a good running engine from a working ped that he could sell for way more ?
Hi Mark, thanks for your replies. It is appreciated. I bought it from eBay from Cheshire bike breakers. So I’m guessing it was written off. They have sent me a list that shows it was a runner but I know that doesn’t mean anything. They are sending me out a new piston, rings and gasket set. And a little refund for the inconvenience. The new carb I got delivered has a bigger looking jet than my original carb but it doesn’t have any numbers stamped so I don’t know the exact size. My original jet is a 52 so will be going back in when I get this new piston. I already have a 50cc barrel and head from my old engine that didn’t have any issues so I will be changing to that old barrel. I haven’t checked the spark colour as yet. It only starts with easy start. It doesn’t matter what I do with the fuel. Just revs high with the easy spray and then dies. I’ve sucked the vacuum side and fuel is going to the carb. It came with a new electric choke, needle but I put the old cable back on. You can hear the change when closed throttle and open throttle on the electric start. So I guessed the cable was fine. Im going to do the wet carb test and really go over the carb set up this weekend. Thanks again mark. Fingers crossed it’s something really obvious and stupid. I will rewatch your videos for some more tips/ideas.
Sorry yes it was a complete engine. The wiring loom fitted all fine. But the rear wheel was locked up initially. I couldn’t push the bike at first. After fitting it to the scooter and putting the rear wheel on. Could the clutch be knackered and causing the scooter to stall? Like I said i am going to look into it this weekend. I still have my original engine that I can swap parts over as it only had 8,000km. I was going to change to a new drive belt anyway.

Was my speedfight. Most of what was done was done by the owner before me. Only had it about 3 months then had problems with it so just brought a new bike as I wanted a manual bike

@@marksavage I have watched hours of your speedfight videos, my electrics aren't working and it won't kick start either, I've changed everything but for some reason nothing seems to work
So I managed to check everything over again and on my handle bars my immobiliser red light comes on now and even with the red key it won't do anything, do you think I need a CDI bypass?
