  • After hearing a strange "higher pitch" sound while vacuuming using my Dyson DC40 - I found the fix..
    Make sure all the rubber seals are clean and seated well. Make sure all the connecting areas connect firmly against the rubber seal areas.
    This will make sure you are getting the maximum suction force.

    So, this helped me with my DC41! We've had ours for several years now and thought it was dying...
    The Dyson DOES require constant maintenance - It is very powerful and sucks up everything, so it requires attention in order to keep it going. We did have to replace the head, which was still under warranty. Cheers

    Thank you for the great instruction video. I'm going to see if that fixes my squeal noise, but the noise that bothers me the most is a scraping sound on my tile floors that only happens when I pull the vacuum backwards. I think it is coming from the ends of the clear housing and I think the wheels must not be seated correctly. Do you have any experience with these wheels and if they are fixable or do I need to get the whole housing?

    Thanks to your easy to follow video I was able to take my powerhead apart, clean it and put it back together. It works fine now. Hub put carpet fresh crap on an upstairs carpet, I despise that stuff, It set off a series of issues with my dyson. I had taken the powerhead apart but don't think I put it back correctly? I also didn't place that red collar on first. That's very important. I have 4 cats, one is long haired, I do get him clipped once a year. I found his fur wrapped around both sides where the rollers attach! I pulled it off with a tweezers. Cleaned the accordion rubber off, cleaned everything else, made sure all tabs were where they should be, put the rollers back on, red collar piece on then attached my powerhead and it's working great. Technically I don't know what the exact reason was that it wasn't working at 100% the rollers were working though. Just not enough power/suction. Thanks again!

      stacey tobias Hi Stacey thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Ah, the dreaded change in pitch sound. My vacuum started that sound also shortly after I bought it. I thought, lot of money, oh no! I did get mine to stop making the sound and it's still working like a charm. Everywhere a rubber seal meets, just make sure it's seated well. Check the area where it actually meets the floor (where the roller is located), all the areas the canister connects. After that I'd use a dry rag and wipe the rubber seal areas to make sure there's no build up causing a bad fit. After that you should be good.Good luck with that and have a good one...

      Look under the bottom of the back hose...there is a flap there that may be open. Just feel around at the back and you'll see it

    • @lm0825
      @lm0825  Před 7 lety

      Hi Drew - thanks for watching and for your comment. It's hard to say without actually seeing it. When you say carpet mode - do you mean the brushes on the floor (head) are always spinning. If so there should be a switch (push button) next to the power switch that will engage and disengage the spinning brush head.
      If you mean you don't get suction when you use the hose mode - I have had that problem also. When I would use the hose only with an attachment tool it seems the vacuum suction would switch back to normal (floor) mode and suction would stop through the hose.
      As Adriene A advised there is a small flap type opening under the canister. That flap opens and closes diverting (channeling) the suction power depending if you are doing normal floor vacuuming or using the hose / wand with tools. It seems what I've found is the suction "must" be 100% when using the hose to keep that flap engaged correctly. The only way I've been able to keep it engaged is - when using the hose - do not keep the wand attached to the hose. The wand must cause a loose connection causing the suction flap to disengage - reverting the vacuum back to floor mode. When I use the hose (and tools) only - without the wand it seems to work fine. Hopefully you will find an answer in there somewhere - sorry for the run on.
      Thanks again to you and Adriene A. Hope you both have a good one...

    A little constructive criticism if you’re doing more of these videos: Script. PLEASE write a script and stick to it-3 minutes into the video I totally forgot what I was trying to find out because the subject matter was all over the place. Next, detail the noise or, even better, record the noise so ppl know if they’re even looking at the right video-no one who is already frustrated with a vacuum that isn’t functioning properly wants to wait through all the stuff that really doesn’t matter, just to finally get to the “good part” and STILL have no idea if what you’re talking about is the same problem they’re having. Then (and this goes back to scripting), limit the asides and speculation about what parts that ppl don’t even care about right now do. I want to know why my Dyson is making a horrendous noise since it fell over, and I’ve sat through a half dozen videos so far and NOT ONE of them has been descriptive enough-it’s so frustrating I can’t even begin to find the words for it. Anyway, not trying to be harsh, but a few notes might help. I love my dyson too, but I don’t want to sit through 2 minutes of someone talking about THEIR Dyson when I don’t even know if they can help me, LOL. Sigh...on to the next one.

    *Overall 5 stars as it's exactly what we wanted,🧼 **allabout.wiki/Dyson-Upright** in terms of cleaning power. Suction is as good as all the reviews state. When we first got it, I first vacuumed with the existing vacuum and then with this, the additional fine dirt that was in the Dyson was gross and convinced me we needed this. We have medium length carpet and a terrier - no issues, I do imagine plush carpets would not work well with this. Also a little too powerful for most bathroom rugs. Great for area **rugs.One** con is the hose, it's great for reaching far away places (ceiling), but is frustrating and hard to use if you're within arm's distance (think couch and floorboards). This is due to the design of the hose having this long metal rod for extension. Also, I haven't figured out how to get the hose back together quickly as it's supposed to nest into the base of the vacuum. This piece might just be user error though.Canister is just like all others, still have to take out the middle insert to get all the dirt out. I often make a mess around the trash as I'm trying to empty it, but the suction picks that right back up.*
