Hunting rabbits in UK. Ferreting rabbits using long nets and purse nets. Hunting with dogs. Hunting with lurchers. Controling rabbits on sheep farm.
In this video I'm out ferreting for rabbits with Ryan and his lurcher pup Max. Its Max's first day out ferreting with Longnets.
Max is a natural at jumping the longnets and is also friends with the ferrets. Ryan lets him have a sniff around the rabbit holes but when Ryan enters the ferrets he puts Max in position to observe the rabbit warren whilst we let the ferrets work the warren and evict any rabbits that are at home.
The rabbits bolt really well and we quickly build up a decent bag of rabbits. Max chases the rabbits as they bolt into the nets. We have a couple shallow digs when the rabbits refuse to bolt. A shallow dig is very lucky because these warrens can be really deep.
We have another great day, Ryan could have used an experienced dog but these warrens are perfect for starting a youngster. I'm sure Max enjoyed his day out ferreting and I will be back out with him and Ryan as often as I can this season. We finish on 18 rabbits.

Watch my new hunting video.. LAMPING WITH LASS THE LURCHER . Very clear footage and some great runs. This is one of best lamping videos with my new camera. Lass caught 41 rabbits on the night. Stick it on the tv tonight. Switch the lights and watch it in the dark. I hope you enjoy it.

Never seen such good hunting and I don't ferreting because I do lapping deep up with the videos
Great to watch 👍👍👍👍
Proper love your vids been watching since day one
Thanks mate. Filming yesterday. Filming tomorrow longnetting at night and lamping.
Love all vids mate especially the ferreting ones
@@ferretingnipper thanks. Didn't go longnetting. Ferreting tomorrow I think.
I really like this one. Nice to see the young pup finding its feet. Very clean warrens too, wish I had some more like that to cherry pick from. The guys quick on the digs and has the bag to show for it. My jills have been struggling to hold the rabbits in place for some of my digging recently, might need the hob back out on the soft ground again soon.
Think I might have set the net a bit further away ,but if you are picking up on your own I guess you need to be nearer.Nice looking pup ATB with him.
Abousility loved the video that's the second best video I like that uv done the one I like best is ferreting with gem and lass not saying that uv ever done a bad one all the videos are exceptional never a dull video ur so lucky to have so much permission I'm in ireland and it's so hard to get permission to hunt so once again tank you for the video 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍as always
I don't have permission mate on a lot of places so I really appreciate the invites out with great people like Ryan.
Great video mate, keep em coming!
Kelpie collie grey with a touch of whippet.
Another great video. Nice looking dog, looks like he showed some promise
Yes I'm not a big fan of merles myself but he's a solid little lad.
Great footage and thanks for sharing. that little pup will make a great little ferreting dog and already looks very steady and at ease with the ferrets at such a young age!!
Nice 🐕
Watching your ferreting vids makes me think of getting a working whippet again reminds me of how great/relaxing a day ferreting can be compared with some other field sports with the dogs, great video
Yes mate. I bet you have more chance of getting perm with a whippet and not a lurcher. I like to do abit of everything to keep it interesting.
Lush lil pup max like
so the ferrets and dogs are pals? Looks like a fun afternoon
Cracking Dog, missed what he said the breeding was?
Collie kelpie grey pinch of bull
It’s a kelpie thing lol
I enjoyed that
Bloody brilliant mate high hopes for dave slights purdey related pup then should be a good dog
Yes mate. Ryan has plenty to go at so he will get plenty of practice.
Hahahaha the dog was launching u
Expatriate Englishman here, many years living in Oz. Shot many a rabbit but never seen ferreting done though I believe some guys do it here. Loved the video, really interesting, liked and subscribed!
Possible to have a bit more info about what is happening please? Subtitles or a bit of commentary about the technique would be great.
What happened to Ryan's pup Max haven't seen anymore clips of him to see how he was progressing
Muy bueno me encanto mucho 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍💕👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Please share and thankyou.
What happened to Max does Ryan still have him would like to see a video of him as an adult.
Where's max from been trying to get one for ages mate
So that will be 3 dogs you have now then, molly, forget the others name and now this one,, I've done that, an darcy got it right with the name of the book,,, running dog addiction lol!
Yes mate Ryan's got 3. Molly is getting on for 7, Sky broke her leg and can't take too much work so it's a good time for him to bring on a pup .
I use a lab cross greyhound
Nice but what nime this masheen
I use a staff x lurcher and he’s vicious when it comes to it 😅
I wanna see video of that dog working....
Have a whippet, has killed a few rats, but struggling to get her rabbit fit. Have a new borderjack and it's already streets ahead.. any advice... ??!
Danielle Lucas nope
I ferret as well! Also I'm English and I'm a 9 year old girl and i ferret with my dad
That's good to hear. I hope you and your dad enjoy the videos.
@@reynoldsoutdoors3055 thanks! I'm new but you're my favourite CZcamsr!
@@wolffox172aj6 thankyou. I still have a few videos to edit. So when I have time I will upload them. Hopefully I will do some more filming next season.
Okay!
hows this pup doing Andrew
Not too sure. I have been meaning to ask Ryan. Will try and find out.
@@reynoldsoutdoors3055 top man
what do you do with the rabbits when you done, are you eating them?
Yes I eat lots of rabbits.
I like your videos, congratulations! could crossing a malinois and greyhound be worth it? to catch hares?
I dont think it would be a good cross for hares
no? nor crossing again with saluki or english? can not be worth? why ? have you seen any Which crossing do you recommend for hares? I have a bitch half malinois half greyhound, but I was thinking about crossing with greyhound again.
@@cristobalsantiago823 I think breeding yours with a saluki greyhound would be ideal
I wanted a cross with a collie, but I found this one from Malinois, when it is in heat it will be ridden by a saluki. Let's see if i'm lucky
I see your videos, I am a hunter in Spain, have you never tried a Spanish greyhound? They are similar to the saluki only faster when leaving, I like the dog that you have brown, I see a female dog that you have looks like a shepherd dog that is here called carea leones.
How old is the pup mate at what age do you boys tend to start them I have just got a new pup in 10weeks old today. Looks like a strong enough pup to make a nice all rounder haha you boys need to come down to South Wales and have a crack on our stingy thorny filled bastard hedgerows! Il dig 8ft for permission that clean keep em coming lads
I think it's wise to get them out as early as you can ferreting and mooching for only a short amount of time. I think max is about 16 weeks. We didn't have far to walk though and we were possibly out longer than I would advise but there was plenty going on to keep him interested. I imagine he were tired the following day.
Keep your hedgerows. I was ferreting yesterday on hedges and we caught two rabbits. It was such a difficult day.
Andrew Reynolds Hunting haha there are reasonable numbers to be had in our hedges had 16 last weekend in 3 hours but you have to put up with stingy bashing and thorn picking for the pleasure! As soon as mine is all jabbed il have him with me for a look what county is it you boys are in here?? Could I Hear the grouse on the Moore in the background
Are the rabbits instant dead after doing that?
Yes
Bela caçada
😡😡😡😡🤬🤬🤬
Would never think of run a lurcher untill at least 2 year's of age,If you want to no wye message me ,
Always get the pup out early as possible. Best way for it to learn imo.
You do it the way you do it, But the young Pup, is looking down every hole when the ferret is working, rabbits see and hear the dog moving around, and won't bolt, and then the ferret layes up, time waisted diging him out, The young Pup courses a rabbit, can't catch the rabbit because the puppy not mature enough, then the pup gives tongue, and gets into bad habits,Have fun 🐰🐶
The dogs a jaka all it wants to do is play with the rabbit a good hair would kill it
Lol lucky he's not a hare dog then.
The dogs still a pup and finding it’s feet you clown, a good ferreters dog doesn’t just come overnight it’s a long procedure of hard training that can go on years to get right, not just a dog that runs hares with no brains at all!!! Atvb with your young pup pal
took mine two years she was a hancock half cross brilliant on rabbits pheasants and took a few hares good luck with yours
Hair? Lol. Yes wouldnt catch a hare.
Its a pup. Its to young to understand ferreting properly. Time is the key with ferreting dogs. Time and brains not speed.
A hare wouldnt come into any normal persons mind watching this lol.
Difficult to enjoy watching someone that is useless at fast dispatch (or just doesn't care) spending the day dislocating the necks of game.
What do you mean by this?
Deprived you dead, blood and pork and what the people to God by the Almnknqp and Moqozp and deteriorating and Alntihp and eat seven, but what Zkeetm and the slaughter of the monument and Tstksmwa arrows; that is debauch despaired today those who disbelieve from your religion is not Tkhcohm and Akhcon today you completed your religion and completed My favor upon you and chosen Islam is your religion For he who is forced into sin not congruent with regard to sin For God is Forgiving, Most Merciful (3)
leave the poor rabbits alone its just wanton cruelty you will answer to god for what your doing.
John Frost God gave man dominion over the animals and fish for food, I think we have been brainwashed into thinking of rabbits as cute and cudly, which they are. Think on this, if you where starving, would you wish you had these lost skills ? Because soon, there will be a lot less food in the supermarket, and what there is will be very expensive....
@@princebuster93 eat my shit.
Well that was horrible
Horrible, just horrible. I've nothing against the breed...just the way people train them to kill.
‘I’ve nothing against the breed’ well this is what they’re bred to do so clearly you do.
