Sorry to hear that you are suffering from this, I've had similar burnout and overwhelm from my many hobby projects. I've been watching your content for 14 years now (all the way back to your 'The Creation of your own Chaptermaster' video) Hopfully our collective burnout doesn't stick around for long!

Dear Girl Painting, you have been a CZcams staple of mine since the old days. I know CZcams trends rise and fall but to the audience you do have your videos mean a great deal. I remember when the closest i could get to a painting tutorial was thumbing through baldly explained pages of magazines and talking to tight lipped shop assistances. It amazes me how technology has opened up the learning world to be accessed by all. Now the teachers of today are no longer cardiganed images on the back of books one would never hope to meet, but real living people that we can communicate with and learn from, never underestimate the value of what your do, it's the greatest achievement of our time, freedom of knowledge. So i would like to take the opportunity to thank you for all of the time energy and effort you have generously given us all. You videos have helped so many take their first painting steps. I personally tried wet blending for the very first time after it was demystified for me watching your video on the screamer of tzeetch. I then continued to explore the technique across my densiens of the silver tower, one of my fondest hobby wins ever 😊. You owe us nothing, every video is a gift to receive, whenever it drops, a joy to watch whatever it contains, and personally speaking, my hobby world would be a much sadder place without you in it. Keep painting 🖌️🎨😊

I am infinitely grateful for all your work, because thanks to your videos I have learned to paint my own figures, I am not an expert but thanks to you I defend myself quite well. Whenever someone asks me for painting advice, I send them to your channel. I hope you get ahead. take care of yourself. Have a nice day.

Sorry you've been feeling depressed and down Alexandra! I wasn't happy with what GW did with the storm cast range too! I just want you to know that you are loved and appreciated! I hope you start to feel better soon! :)💗

I have been depressed for a while and gave up the hobby entirely for several years. Now I am getting back into it and am really only concerned with the modeling and painting side. I would like to game but I don’t know anyone to do that. I realized that it is important to take time for yourself and sometimes that means stepping away for a bit and coming back when you‘re ready. Its also important to do it for you and to do what makes you happy, even if its not „meta“. Anyways, I wish you the best and hope you find enjoyment in other places. Depression is a terrible thing but it is imperative that we continue marching onward. Even if we dont realize it, we are important to others. You are important to us and we enjoy your videos. Stay well and take time to relax and have fun.

Thank you! Life has its downsides, and we need to remember that there is balance by celebrating the good. But that doesn't mean we should forget about the down/bad/depressing days! I'm sorry that you're down, and look forward to future videos from you. Whether they're about the ups, downs, or inspired recipes. :)
Keep on keeping on, your work is inspiring!

The mini you are painting looks good. The Stormcast Eternals you painted in past videos look good. Hope you can find a win in that fact that your painting is appreciated/

Please don't give up on yourself or the hobby.
It's not your fault Games Workshop treat their customers the way they do, cutting and chopping away at their products.
I stopped actually gaming a long time ago, and just collect what I call "fun forces" that are entirely made up of minis that just catch my eye and fit together in my imagination, and I beat my own depression/hobby burn-out this way, as it's taken the pressure off me to just collect/paint for the games, and now I can just let rip and enjoy the whole collecting/painting experience again.
I know some people who STILL play 4th Edition Warhammer Fantasy games, using their old armies, and have the most fun in years, since stopping trying to keep up with the ever-changing GW games/products.
Sometimes losing your drive can be a blessing, as it allows you to just reset yourself, decide what you want for your hobby (NOT what games manufacturers say you should want/need from their expensive new ranges), and what you enjoy doing just for fun.
By the way, the Death Guard mini looks beautiful, and I'd love to see the finished article among its brethren at a later date.
There are a LOT of people here for you right now, and letting us know you're still going, despite everything that's affected you because of what GW did is a good thing, as now we know why you went away for a while, what's happening now for you, and can send our love and hopes for you as you heal within and without yourself.
You may feel alone, but you're still the beautiful, inspiring person we've come to know and love, and we'll still be here, waiting for you to start posting your amazing videos again, when you're feeling up to it again.
The "Black Dog" of depression may have bitten you right now, but that wound WILL heal, and this period will become a memory after a while, and, hopefully sooner than later, you'll get your inspiration and energy back, and show us some more of your wonderful, artistic soul in your future videos.
Love from ALL your fans out here ❤❤❤❤❤❤

I perfectly understand your condition, because I have been in a deep depression for a long time. However, it is not connected at all with miniatures, but with disappointment in life in general. Thank you for your creativity, and take care of yourself. We need you.

I just wish I had hobbies to burn out on so I wasn't so burnt out with work. I want to like my job, but undiagnosed depression is a bitch, mostly because nobody believes you have it so they just assume I'm lazy.

    • @DeltaPi314
      @DeltaPi314 Před 3 měsíci

Pro-tip: It is much better to be considered lazy than depressed.
Once they know you are depressed 2 things will happen:
1- People will consider you a droopy-downy and avoid you so you don't spread your "negative energy to them"
2- The predators will come out of hiding and you will be seen as weak.
If you have depression, keep it to yourself. Changing lazy isn't as hard as to cope with depression.

Honestly I think this is a really normal reaction to having the carpet pulled right from under you.
What were you expecting, Alexandra? To take it on the chin and act as if nothing happened?
    Really?
Maybe you expect a lot from yourself.
    It is OK to fail.
It is OK to do nothing for a time.
It is OK to step back and put something on the back-burner.
And it is OK to not be able to win against the tides of depression every day.
I have several hobbies just for this situation.

Depression is never good and triggers can vary. I've been bipolar since I was 11 and I'm 65 now! But regarding your now "not much good" army; I've heard other people hit like this and they give up but I always say DON'T give up because Games Workshop is screwing up again. When it comes down to it there area lot of people that do not wargame but collect and build armies for fun and enjoyment. -do what you enjoy.

In my opinion Warhammer is a pretty shitty hobby because in general you rely on the mercy of a private company whose goal is to make money.
The same applies to TCGs. Its not that I dont like tabletop but Games Workshop has a monopoly and it sucks. Also Tabletop and TCGs are consume oriented hobbies where big part of the hobby is to consume stuff which in itself is a bad habbit. The pile of shame is a symptom of that.
