    These painting tips are SOOO much better than the majority I have seen so far.

    Looks great! Maybe some gloss varnish on the red parts would make it look even more gory/desgusting.

    ...I added this to my favorites just in case I somehow wind up with the extra funds to get this model. Then I'll worry about how to cram him onto my army list. >.>

    Once again you have gone over the top! I particularly liked the sound effects. They seem to be straight from DreamWorks or perhaps Lucasfilm? Super work.

    Ha ha Xandra you nutter! And my gf claims that I'm the one with the weird sound-imitation-syndrome he he :-D
    Seriously, I think you're a genius, no less. Doing this tutorial in good quality tabletop-standard, spicing it up with technical paints and all - even though you have the skills to make it masterclass, but choose not to, for the sake of your fans and viewers - THAT'S genius! In my humble opinion.
    (But that metal is waayyy too bright for me. I would've suggested a basecoat of medium-dark brown of choice, dapple-effect with light browns and orange, THEN drybrush/stripe-effect with metal. Then splash it up with sepia wash and so on. Re-stripey/drybrush with light metal like chainmail to present fresh scrapes/damage. You get the picture. But hey, who am I to lecture you? I forget myself sorry)
    Best regards from a fan in Jutland, Denmark

    Good tutorial, but I would put the matte varnish before putting the "Nurgle's Rot" because it takes away the brightness of the viscosity effect, Greetings!

    I'm thinking of wetbrushing a tyranid tervigon. Is that something you would recommend? I thought about dry brushing it but after seeing this video, wetbrushing seems the proper approach

  • @PraetorGix
    @PraetorGix Před 10 lety

    Using shades for tinting the bases seems like a waste to me (those things are really expensive here. I actually have to import them 'cause they're not sold in my country) I use generic cheap acrilics diluted on water and they do the job perfectly.

    How beautifully hideous. Good job.
    Btw how come you dont thin your paints sometimes, especially when applying those boils. You paint directly from the pot. Ive been told by painters to always thin your paints. Should I always follow this advice? thanks

    • @GirlPainting
      @GirlPainting  Před 10 lety

      it totaly depends on the situation and what the paint is going to be used for. wetblending needs for example way more watery colour then a covering coat. such things come with experiance

  • @TheTorakal
    @TheTorakal Před 10 lety

    Hey Alexandra!
    Nice tutorial, as always! Really love it.
    But I am still wondering, what your 'Leim' mixture contains. Is it like 50/50 white glue & water?
    Greetings

    • @GirlPainting

      Jut wanted to let you know that you essentially taught me how to paint. Been painting for a few years and I started with your videos. My paint style has kind of developed into its own but I still watch your videos because I can always learn something. Thanks for teaching me to paint!

      why? hmmmm....let me think for a moment....do i have a tyranid army?.....no....do i need a tyranid model without a tyranid army?.....no.....is he a cheap model to quickly make a tutorial of?....not realy no......

    • @TheUberGravy
      @TheUberGravy Před 10 lety

      all are valid reasons. I must have just assumed you had a tyranid army after watching you paint those gaunts so long ago. My mistake. :D
