I'm so happy you made this video!! i have been looking at starting an ogre army and for me, the most important part is painting. This video has answered so many of my questions! Thank you!
Nice video. :-) On the subject of primers, you can actually make your own primer in any (opaque) color you like. Golden sells a medium called GAC 200 that is designed for increased adhesion. (I think the major ingredient is Dow Rhoplex SS#4, which is for painting sports equipment.) YMMV, but you can start my mixing 1 part GAC 200, 1 part Liquitex matte medium (or whichever matte medium you use), and 2 parts paint. Then, thin this with whatever you usually use to thin paint for the airbrush.
Alexandria I have been a big fan and subscriber for quite a while now and I wanted to request a series of videos. I was really hoping you could do a series where you lay out all of your armies and make a detailed video of each one. I think that would be very popular. Thank you so much for all the videos. Your the best.
I love this one. I like that you showed how to use the washes in the end as you normally use them in the beginning. I have to say though that i do not really like the pristine blue pants on such a savage looking model. but the paint job was done effectively so the color is just a matter of taste.
Back in the old days, Ral Partha used to sell a set of metallic waxes that you would apply with a makeup applicator like you use in this video. It was a great effect and it's interesting to see this same tool being used for another effect.
This is your cleanest work and I´m happy with this tutorial. I really like the paintjob, and remember you can get a high level if you want: you have demostrate it in this video.
i nearly paint at the standard of judgegudge nowadays but i have to say, i started to really get better when i learned your techniques! :) and even for experianced painters, sometimes something new can be learned from your vids :) great work and thanks
Happy New Year and congrats for your first video of the new year. The ogre came out great. I was wondering if you can give the warriors of chaos some love and do a tutorial on one. Maybe the Nurgle Chaos Lord we be good. I have one to paint, but not sure how it should look.
For those who need it, here is a list of the citadel paints used and their new names: Terracotta > XV88 Mordian Blue > Macragge Blue Calthan Brown > Mournfang Brown Skorched Brown > Rhinox Hide Boltgun Metal > Leadbelcher Gryphonne Sepia > Seraphim Sepia Badab Black > Nuln Oil Dwarf Flesh > Ratskin Flesh Elf Flesh > Bestigor Flesh Ogryn Flesh > Reikland Fleshshade Astronomicon Grey > Celestra Grey Asurmen Blue Wash > Drakenhof Nightshade Snakebite Leather > Balor Brown Bleached Bone > Ushabti Bone
Hello, I have watched your video but missed the reference you used with the Vallejo Pigments. If you don't mind, could you tell me which were the one you used? Cheers from France and congratulations for your amazing work, your minis looks as good (or even better) as the ones I can see in my local GW retrail store).
What color would you use now that you cant buy "Calthan Brown" anymore? The Conversion Chart says "Mournfang Brown", but I just think it looks to dark? And what sand do you use? - Is it your own mixture? Hope you will answer all my questions :)
Hey alexandra, i just finished my first box of iron guts. Could not have done it without you and Warbosstae, the result are amazing. Im entering them into a paint competition at my GW. ill make a shout out if i can find my camera
any way you could do Thranduil from the hobbit minis? I'm getting one for my birthday on the 29th and i would love to get some advice on it. and keep making the videos i love them.
One of the difficulties in painting this figure is the skin. Skin is always difficult to paint. The problem I see in any muscled figure is that combination of recesses and curved forms. Your technique is similar to Dave's Collimore, from Foundry: the 3 colors technique, but you add a final wash that improves the outcome. Great job.I like it.
@GirlPainting Thanks for the answer! I think I'll start by using alcohol to remove it, since I'm a bit worried that repainting it will fill the gaps between the teeth etc. :)
Hi Alex! I love your painting. I just started a OKn army and I would like to follow alot of the steps you do, but I have one question. I like to use Army Painter Strong Shade for all the "shadow" effects. Can I use it after the miniature is done without ruin the really cool rusty effect?
No need for derogatory language. The uploader has taken valuable time out of their day in order to give painting tutorials, and you go and insult her. Bravo.
hmmm - I find it pretty easy to do the Ogre in bright skin tone style. Base in Talern Flesh, Wash in Ogryn Flesh all over, Build up layers back up with Tallern, wash the recess only in Ogryn again then Highlight over the musculature in either Dwarf Flesh or a 1:1 mix of Tallern and Deheneb Stone depending on the finish you want. I like Alexandra's Tutorial tho:P
That was a very nice tutorial, and that is why i would like to requst a tutorial on how to paint a mournfang, if that is something you would be interesseret in :)
Ok, so I know that she said this is table top quality, but I thought that the base color for the flesh was a little too dark and that's why there's a lot of contrast....... BUT I thought it was good overall, Flesh is probably one of the hardest, if not, the hardest tones to accomplish. also, if anyone can tell me the two names she mentions on this video I would appreciate it.
she is a woman.what are these idiotic questions.she would show some paint techniques.what is wrong about.i am happy that someone can show the painting techniques part by part because i hate painting.
You mention this is table top standard. I'm pretty certain with the amount of colour tones you are using this constitutes as a masterclass standard or 'eavy metal at worst lol
I find that watching you talk and paint is really relaxing to me :)
This ogre looks fantastic, your painting is so amazing. Thanks for sharing.
I'm so happy you made this video!! i have been looking at starting an ogre army and for me, the most important part is painting. This video has answered so many of my questions! Thank you!

Hey alexandra, i just finished my first box of iron guts. Could not have done it without you and Warbosstae, the result are amazing. Im entering them into a paint competition at my GW. ill make a shout out if i can find my camera

Liebe Deine Arbeit! Die Videos helfen mir so viel!!!
you said you'renot the bestat painting, are you crazy? You're awesome!

he kinda looks like a construction workers whose got really angry at his boss
Does anyone know if she was using a wash or an actual color for when she was creating the shadows at 5:45?
What size brush are you using? I am new to miniature painting and I am not really sure what brush sizes are the best.
You are awesome
Ogres in the GW fantasy universe are my favorite.
@GirlPainting Thanks for the answer! I think I'll start by using alcohol to remove it, since I'm a bit worried that repainting it will fill the gaps between the teeth etc. :)

You got owned ya hippi!
what was the blue green wash supposed to represent... i know it s weathering but like waht kind lol
No need for derogatory language.
The uploader has taken valuable time out of their day in order to give painting tutorials, and you go and insult her. Bravo.
you know, you have such a nice blend of sand i really think that it doesn't need the drybrushing.
Aus dieser Figur sowas geiles zu zaubern...echt ne Meisterleistung^^
I just used too much black wash on a big skull attached to a horsehead yesterday - it's way too dark now :( Is there any way I can fix it?
It's all ogre now.
Vodka as pigment fixer!? Absolute classic. As long as you don't have a little swig while waiting for layers to dry?
do you know what kind of citadel paint i need to use for rust
hmmm - I find it pretty easy to do the Ogre in bright skin tone style. the black ink works great on the bright silver plate..
nice tutorial, thx
Use a grey primer on a grey model. SEEMS LEGIT. Nah, in all honesty these vids are awesome. Keep doing what you're doing.
do you still have the very first figure you ever painted?
i prefer grey because you can see more easily the details of the miniature!
can i use humbrol paints???? please answer!!! keep the good work!

Wouldn't the step on the base using snakebite leather be known as overbrushing?
Love the intro title:)
That was a very nice tutorial, and that is why i would like to requst a tutorial on how to paint a mournfang, if that is something you would be interesseret in :)
@Gansherx Warhammer dont do steampunk - esp 45mm like SMOG , her painting is great though
Hahaha, same for me XD Tried to gave them a burnt skin look, but they are more african-black. They skill look awesome tought!
Hi can you reply to me with the colours you used?:)
Ok, so I know that she said this is table top quality, but I thought that the base color for the flesh was a little too dark and that's why there's a lot of contrast....... BUT I thought it was good overall, Flesh is probably one of the hardest, if not, the hardest tones to accomplish. also, if anyone can tell me the two names she mentions on this video I would appreciate it.
why do you first paint the skin brown/red and then a flesh color
which country are you from ?
After 10 minutes is way better then mine so everything else is just going to make me feel bad :p
Think i'd sold on Vallejo pigments, just the rust effect my vamps need.
@Girlpainting you should make a DVD

You mention this is table top standard. I'm pretty certain with the amount of colour tones you are using this constitutes as a masterclass standard or 'eavy metal at worst lol
Army painters website or at your local games workshop
@GirlPainting Well you quite clearly have the time and patience considering you paint minis all day and make videos of the painted minis.
