It’s the race no one asked for, but trust us - it’s the one you wanted. Two of our most underpowered cars line it up in what just might be the second slowest race we’ve ever done (the HEMTT takes the cake… maybe). Nads does his official on-screen drag racing debut in his B20 powered EG hatch that we built for him, while Danger Dan lets the lettuce fly in his glorious animal-print having Miata daily driver. We’ve said it before… but this is one of those episodes where everybody wins.

That damn 2-3 shift in a Miata with stock engine mounts is the worst under full throttle, the engine is literally torqued over about 2-3 inches which means so is the transmission. So when you come out of second the engine is rocking back left and you push right and up and hit the gate between 3rd and 5th
Get than Miata some comp engine mounts and it'd be much better but still streetable

Probably the most enjoyment I’ve had out of watching all of these episodes of high horsepower cars is seeing these guys run 100hp and smiling the entire time - that was terrific. Felt like watching friends race heads up for no reason back in the day. Love it guys, would love to see you guys race each other more!

100% agreed that vtec head and a better trans like a gsr or b16 and a tune would be a really good race

I think at that point the turbo will make more power, and have better grip to use it beubg RWD. Predicition: MX5.
@@jameshealy4594 I think it will all depend on how much other work is done. If Dan is using it as a daily, track, drift car I can't see him going too crazy with the boost. With all the parts for Nads' engine build he should reach close to 200 so it could still be a pretty even match on paper.

This is my favorite episode of This VS That. Waaaaay more entertaining watching slower cars race. Please give us more of these types of videos. I honestly had no idea who was going to win. But I was rooting for Nads. Not because of the Honda, but because he comes off as being such a passionate and genuine guy.

its not the speed of the cars thats the problem, the main problem with this show with the "fast cars" is that 9/10 times its obvious what car is gonna win so its predictable, and the usually boring owners take it a bit more serious which makes it more lame to watch, vs it being a friendly goof like this episode, and they abuse the "modded car vs expensive stock supercar" "overhyped japanese car vs some muscle car" thing way too much which is why when they make a "slower car" race its not as obviously biased and rigged from the start so its better to watch, like the nsx vs rx7 episode, but i dont blame them for having a formula cause average hoonigan viewers usually arent the brightest bulb in the room.

No this is one of the semi finals after they beat all the Mazda 3s and 3 cylinder Subarus the other end is the 350z with the smashed fender vs v8 mustang that makes no power cause its full of vaccume leaks
I went to school with some kid who’s brother built evos, nobody ever beat that kid lol he was running E85 and like 500hp as a junior in high school 🤣🤣

Ignition timing and fuel*
You can turn up NA engines, it's just a bit more difficult. Find a balance of slightly leaning out and timing advance that doesn't knock too much and you can get a bit more beans. Of course if you're running E85 it's a lot easier since it is more stable. Of course doing that too much/for too long can kill your engine.
He was literally talking about nads EG, after vin said “turn it up”
@@shred1894 all 1.8 and 1.6 optimum timing is 14° advance any more and you make no power or lose power, e85 is not beneficial on a n/a setup especially on a low compression engine like all Miata engines 2005-1990
