Randy Moore, your namesake 😁😁

There aren't ANY like him. Especially in today's savory society. 😞
Maybe too much toxic masculinity.

And the rest was history.
Rest In Power, Sir Roger.
You know that’s the woman from “Goldfinger”, who was covered in gold paint, Right. Now coincidence...
He'd already been @ MGM starring opposite Elizabeth Taylor & Lana Turner & other tv series.
Yep, a lot of series take time to evolve, but this was classic from the start. Quite a suspense thriller!
I SO AGREE ❤😊
Roger was in a category of his own. Rest in peace Sir Roger.
Indeed
very best good series
I miss him a lot ❤
Mr. R. Moore was very well liked and millions of viewers are still missing this great English talented entertainer and actor at all times.
I love this actor and this series!
What a jentleman what a nice human being...he lives forever...

What do you mean "was liked"? He's still liked and alive.
He should have retired after his 2nd Bond movie.
This series was one of those essential viewings every week in my home when I was a kid in the 60's. Enjoy seeing them again after all these years. I always look back at the early 60's with great nostalgia but I guess it was because I was growing up then and a whole world was opening up to me something that you can never repeat for the rest of your life. The Ferry Hotel as featured here is still going at Cookham though now it's a gastro pub.
I used to love to watch this with my Dad each week. So nice to revisit.
I used to watch Roger Moore in the series Ivanhoe. He was great in that as well .God bless black and white t.v
It’s reminiscent of an era after the war when tv was new and content was rapidly filling the ‘airwaves’. Really special time for not only the West, but the world.
Gastro pub you say, funny ! ...nicely put! And yes, oh yes, to our 60s nostalgia; these days warms the heart. Few more of us, we can start a club! To all of us, Stay healthy, Be happy!
My mom loved this show and never missed one of them, I was a kid in the 60’s also. They are all new to me
He is the Saint and the best James bond.

@@dmk7700 NO WAY! Not suave enough. Roger was so cool. As a Bond should be.
My mother was madly in love with Roger Moore so during my childhood we never missed one single episode. I gotta give it to Roger Moore; he was truly the Saint: cool as an ice cube in a martini and smooth like a black velvet glove ...

He had a home in Yorkshire
Sin duda, el gran Roger Moore siempre fue simpático, atractivo y talentoso y con esta inolvidable Serie comenzó a brillar con luz propia.
I (& a gaggle of my colleagues) met Roger Moore in passing in the late 70's. Every bit as attractive in real life as on the screen, he was polite & charming & gave autographs all around without a grumble. A true 'star.'
Las series son maravillosas deseo interpretar en español
Roger Moore had almost no wardrobe budget for this show. The script called for Simon Templar to be fashionable, but Moore's own wardrobe was always better than what the studio could afford, so he wore his own clothes.
Roger Moore had the look such that he could have worn pyjamas made of gunny sacks, and he would still look good.
that's right , Roger Moore designed his clothing himself in his popular TV show "the persuaders" too , just read at ending credits it is mentioned , "clothing designed by Roger Moore"
The car was his too.

Stunning b/w photography. And the pretty stunning Roger Moore as well. He really was gorgeous.
Moore was perfectly cast as The Saint. Having read all the Leslie Charteris novels and consequently having my own concept of what Simon Templar was like, it was fabulous seeing him brought to life in the form of Roger Moore. Tall, handsome, suave, with British upper class sophistication, he fitted my preconceived ideas to a T.
Of all the actors who played The Saint I'd have to say Roger was my favourite. Cool, dapper, slick and good in a scrap he just looked and sounded the part. The sign of a first-class actor. Certainly no one has done the role justice since.
Wasn't he the first?
I felt that Moore as Bond exemplified an agent truly cared about what he was involved in as opposed to being a machine for the system. I guess his days as The Saint and someone trained in the Underground during WWII prepared him to be James Bond.😉😉😉
With respect to Val Kilmer, sorry , Saint=yecch.
I can only think of Roger Moore and Val Kilmer. Noone else comes to mind.
@@garrysekelli6776 Vincent Price could be also a perfect fit for the role of Simon Templar for live action since he was the Saint in radio drama series

Thanks for sharing, it brings me back to when I was a little boy and use to sneak up late in the evening when everyone was a sleep. Great series! I watched at times with my mother when I was a kid, she never missed an episode, she adored Roger Moore.
I literally just discovered this jewel. I absolutely love this show.
I love old tv shows, until a few days ago I didn't know anything about saint now I find myself binged watching it. Roger Moore was one of my favorite actors and my fav James Bond
When I was a kid, my parents used to refer to Roger Moore as "El Santo", Spanish for "The Saint", when he played James Bond in the 70s. At the time I had no idea why they called him that. Later in life I learned that Roger Moore starred in this TV series and I guess that is how they knew him from watching this TV show when it aired in Mexico early in their marriage in the 60s . Apparently they were big fans of show. This is the first time I have ever watched an episode I must say, not bad. Good storyline. Oh and I immediately recognized the future Bond girl, Jill Masterson played by Shirley Eaton. She was very beautiful and I learned she is still alive, but not Sir Roger. RIP Sir Roger Moore!

I'm a big fan of the Vincent Price radio version of the Saint and just found out today that it was made into a TV series. Terrific!
If you listened to the Price version HOW THE HECK was it you weren't aware of the television one, unless you heard the Price recordings offered in the late '90s as audio dramas with a batch of other early radio shows by some KTel like marketer, then maybe you aren't so old as you seem to indicate. But still, this program(me) was a staple in cheap syndication in US stations and I assume in Jolly Olde.
Didn’t realised that, Roger Moore was so handsome!
He is some kind of charisma.
It's odd that you did not order a lifesized blow-up doll. From the preponderance of comments, makers would have become the Bezos of their time.
Yet, the Original Super Mario was not, apparently, so arousing to the half-witless commenters, who plague the movie comment columns with their online pubescent ravings.
Maybe get new glasses.....
Reading the comments it’s heart warming to see how many people, not only enjoyed this series when it first aired but have such lovely memories of the people they watched it with who are no longer with us in the flesh. 🌈♥️🐞
I always thought of Roger Moore as the archetypal suave and debonair English gentleman. Cool and collected in all situations.
Would have been something for a crossover with The Avengers. Templar, Steed & Peel. Hmm sounds like a legal establishment.
Simon Templar, alias Roger Moore was an extraordinery handsome man, driving fast cars....At the time I was living in the eastern block. For us it was a dream, having a glimpse in the western way of life.I enjoy the movie even after fifty years...
Superb Wit and amazing charm he had. RIP Sir Roger Moore. we gonna miss you.
Before he was James Bond 007, there was Beau Maverick and Simon Templar, two of Roger Moore's television characters. Of course, the rest is history. Moore became known for his sophistication and debonair appearance in movies and TV, leaving that worldly impression with fans around the globe. He is greatly missed. May he R.I.P. I have seen The Saint when I was a child. I didn't remember Roger Moore was so handsome, elegant and attractive.
And his haircut is without a doubt the most perfect one ever saw on a screen... something like a masterpiece.

There was plenty of shooting, fistfights and car chases in this great tv show!
One of my favorites with British Tele!! The other being The Avengers! Those were THE days♦
Diana Rig was hot!
I think what made these tv show so amazing back in the days is the cast : Roger Moore , Diana Rig , Patrick Mcnee and many more .. they were perfect in their role , as if they were naturally born to portray their respective characters , but above all , they had charisma , and this is what missing from some actors nowadays

The Saint....I first saw this show when I was 14 but it was in colour and starred Ian Ogilvy. However my mother would always pooh pooh it. For her none could play the part better than Sir Roger Moore. So glad that I finally get to watch the original version. RM is definitely easy on the eyes.
At one time, this TV show held the record for the most international sales: there were few countries in the world where it wasn't shown, making Moore (who owned a third of the rights to the books and the show as producer) one of the earliest British TV Actor millionaires, long before he became Bond. He joked (accurately) that he took a pay-cut to play Bond! Remember, in the mid-60s, a million pounds was worth a hell of a lot more than it is today! A new Boeing 707 for example, would cost you $3 Million. Moore could have bought several, just from his royalties...!
The Saint was a very popular show in the UK in the 60's..........it was just one of those shows which was a pleasure to watch!
In the mid 60s I was 10 years old I use to watch mr simon templar fight with music on it use to get in my skin with excitement I miss him a lot I'm a born again Christian in his last 2 years I always pray for him and his family !!!

I recently finished the whole series from vids in a local library. It confirmed my memory that this is one of the very best TV series. Very creative, tight direction, snappy dialog ,a good sense of life and great acting. And a training ground for the Sean Connery- Bond movies.

I loved this series as a little girl, on black & white TV p, in the ‘60s. Thank you for uploading this full episode! Great plot. Series and films in the ‘60s had actual plots. And the British have always had inventive plots rather than rehashing the most successful plot-lines, as Hollywood does.

The Saint, Secret Agent Man (called Danger Man in Britain), and The Avengers were on PBS first in the US in the late 1960's and into the 1970's! Those were leaps and bounds BETTER than anything Hollywood could produce at the time! And later came Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, Mr Bean and Spitting Images -- all classics now! I sneaked and watched these after "lights out" at 10 pm on my 13" black & white TV back then! Thanks for posting these gems!
I believe the The Saint and the Avengers aired on ABC. Secret Agent Man aired on CBS back in the 60's
Wrong. Try Google and see how wrong you are. And my point was THESE WERE BETTER BRITISH shows and not from Hollywood. In the 1990's Hollywood did try to copy TV shows from Britain-- (Three's Company was a rip-off of "Man About the House!") And The Man from Uncle was another attempt to copy Danger Man (Title was changed for American audiences) & Get Smart was poor copy of The Saint.

Loved watching this series years back in the day. Roger Moore was the greatest manifestation of THE SAINT on the Telly as the Brits say.
The Saint brought him to be James Bond just like Pierce Brosnan with his Remington Steel
I read that when they were casting for the James Bond film Dr. No, that Roger Moore was the first choice but because he was committed to 'The Saint' the role went to Sean Connery. Also, Shirley Eaton appeared in the James Bond movie 'Goldfinger' as Jill Masterson, who was painted in gold.
The difference between the Rodger Moore Bond and the Pierce Brosnan Bond was the Roger Moore one lasted a lot longer, I didn't know that he was up for the part when they gave it to Connery, Rodger was 3 years older than Sean Connery. a similar thing comes to mind with Tom Selleck, he was cast for Indiana Jones but he was under contract to do the Magnum series, there was a writer's strike at the time but they wouldn't let him out of his obligation so the part went to Harrison Ford, kind of funny how things work out sometimes...
Ah yes, I see that now.
Pierce's first wife, Cassandra Harris, was in FYEO (1981); not certain whether that or being in Remington STEELE was a bigger factor.
Roger Moore was often derided as a lightweight, but if you watch him closely, he was a surprisingly good actor. Talking directly to the camera is actually one of the most difficult things for an actor. He made it look effortless.
He was not a great actor, but pretty decent. What made him exceptional is that he always took his job very seriously and worked very hard to give the best he had. And even though he often played characters with a big ego, he didn't have one.
I was under the impression that Actors ' always ' talked to the camera!
Why would it be hard to talk to a camera????
OrangeTabbyCat Because there's nothing coming back at you. You've nothing to react to or peg your performance to.
Utter rot breaking the fourth wall is a piece of pi~ss for actors
My favourite TV show when I was a kid 😁
Roger Moore was practically perfect in every way except choosing wives. He led a very interesting life.
Moore was brilliant. Just a great actor.
Actually RM was considered for Bond in Dr. No., and is actually closer to the Fleming Bond - suave, debonair. Connery was actually neither of these, but gave Bond the sinister grittiness that we all loved.
Thanks for posting this. The Saint was a favourite of mine back in the 1960's. Look forward to you posting more of these classics.
The opening, talking directly to the viewers, shattering the fourth wall!
Wow! I haven't seen this in years. A very, very young Roger Moore.
Thank you so much for airing this classic of British TV ITC production. "The Saint" was famous in England as well as in Canada before it seduced the American TV households as American networks were protectionist of shows produced ("Made") in USA only. Northern States could watch the early episodes from their neighboring Canadian TV-broadcast stations. Something similar was happening in the South/Western States who could listen to early Rock n' Roll by listening to American disc jockeys transmitting from south of the border Mexican radio stations. Thank you for the memories of a time of freedom and innocence, Ciao, L (Maine, USA)
