I love Patrick McGoohan R.I.P. Everything he does is quick and deliberate, speech, movement, facial expressions, and he does if all with a great voice and most of the time with that slightly hunched head tilt and piercing stare. Three of my favorite movies are that much better because of him. Braveheart, Silver Streak, and of course,...Scanners! If James Bond was not only a spy but a Private detective he would have been the best choice. What a great guy, didn’t accept the role because he wouldn’t kiss another woman. Who would want to if married to Joan Drummond, very attractive even in to her golden years! Damn I wish he didn’t turn down so many roles.

The conversation is ridiculously rushed, like the flower scene from The Room. When they brought the program back with an hour-long run time, it really came into its own. Like Mission Impossible, it had more time to develop its sophisticated storylines and characters. Amazing show!

Watching it now I think it was really good. It was well made and the director did a fine job as well as the musical director. He also did the music for the Simon Templar series. The camera angles and the dramatic music is top notch and todays tv series are not at all that good. I'm gonna search for The man from UNCLE and see if that also is as good as I remember it to be.

Apparently, when the series was 1st commissioned, the TV network wanted a cheap clone of Bond (which was very popular at the time). When the scripts were given to Mcgoohan, he thought the main character was immoral (guns & girls). He suggested changing the Drake character to rely upon his brains & cunning. A man of principal.

Patrick McGoohan did a lot of work in TV, but I will always remember him from a movie version of Othello. It was an English film and think it was in black and white. It was set in the 1950's jazz scene and starred Richard Attenborough and a bunch of jazz musicians such as Dave Brubeck. McGoohan played Iago and he was manically evil. Don't remember the title but would highly recommend it.

Yes! He filed it away in his mind and when he was coming up with the concept for The Prisoner, he was able to utilize it. He also was influenced regarding The Prisoner’s concept when they wouldn’t let him out of his contract as Secret Agent was so successful. As a result, he compromised with them and came up with the Prisoner, in essence mimicking his real life situation of not being actually able to resign. While Number Six was never actually named, everyone assumed that he was John Drake which McGoohan publicly denied … but …come on!

The 2019 rate of gold is $1513.91/oz, so a ton of gold would be worth $48MM, and $5MM would be worth 206 lbs. Side note- it is pretty crazy the gold spike from 1970-1980; going from $239.47/oz-$2161.63/oz !! (Nominal $36.56/oz-$674.84/oz). I wouldn’t say gold is the best investment.
