  • Installing kitchen cabinets in your RV or camper may seem like a challenge but in this video I show how I took off-the-shelf inexpensive cabinets and modified them to fit inside the ambulance camper build. I painted them to give them a more modern look and built extensions to fill in the space where the cabinets did not reach the wall.

People comment on CZcams vlogs, whether they like something or not, without knowing the struggle, but I see the cuts, scrapes and dirty fingernails on your hands. Blood, sweat and tears, Man!! This has turned out GREAT !!

Thank you, I appreciate that! I spent 8 hours modifying the sofa to fit over the wheel well. Had to remove upholstery, rebuild frame and re-upholster. The whole video will likely be around 6 minutes. It looked so simple and most people will never notice but that is kinda the idea of the finished project. Everything is working out so well. Thanks for your positive encouragement.

Every time I buy a store-made cabinet, and cut it, fill it, combine parts to make it accommodate something it wasn’t made for... I end up laughing at myself “I just should have made it from scratch, and made it the way I wanted it in the first place!”
I empathize with your trials, and admire how you can brace and fill, and make it end up *almost* okay!
I also admire how you can make the whole struggle entertaining!

Your DYI videos are the best. Your step by step instruction including trial and error to make it work. Nevertheless, end justifies the means. Awesome job once again.

Thank you! I used to get so frustrated when I made mistakes but now it doesn't bother me as I get to share them hoping people will get a kick out of them. I figure it makes for good footage.

Great video for someone who claims to be an amateur..lol! We all make mistakes..we learn from them to recreate. Thanks! My only thing is I would've cut an opening from the cab to get in. All n all it's still Kool!!!

I'm so impressed with your creative problem-solving! Your A/C positioning/build in the lower bin is genius, but could you explain why you also kept the original massive a/c in the kitchen area? Another idea for that top center panel in the lower kitchen cabinet is to install the hinges to flip open as if you had trays for storing scrubbers, etc. like you can for a kitchen sink, but leave the little plastic bins off to allow the airflow you need.

Thanks! I'm loving the little a/c unit too. I went back and forth about the big unit. I finally decided to leave it alone as it would take a professional to cut and mend the Freon and coolant lines that are tied to the cab unit and engine. If someone should be riding in the back in the summer they would probably appreciate the a/c as right now it only has a tiny window that opens in the side door. I like your idea for the tilting door. I need to remember to stop by the Lowes hardware department and find that type hinge.

Looks great! If you want to remove the center cabinet stile that is in front of the air conditioner unit and attach it to the cabinet door so it is out of the way but retains the same look then this linked video will show you how. I don’t know if it would take too much structural integrity away seeing that you have already made several modifications to the cabinet but it might be a good option. czcams.com/video/8bjeio3eXG4/video.html
