    that saying" you can fix all the (rv, boat, etc.) with a single match" is tongue-in-cheek humor saying if you light it on fire and let it burn, all the problems disappear

    My dad taught me the match and glue trick when I was a kid and I've used it many times since then.

    I use wood golf tees and shave them down with a utility knife to fix the loose screw holes. Thanks for the link to the drawer slides!

    Thanks for sharing. Like 271.Another way to fix a hole that has weakened, cotton and super glue. Push the cotton in and add a drop of super glue. Let it dry and shave it (cut it) smooth.

    WOW, your GD came with mount bracket for the drawers. On my my 22MLE, there wasn't any wood behind the drawers near the sink and they just dropped off. I had to build a support behind the drawer to kept them in place. I wish also knew about the soft close mount, it would had been nice too.

    When my trailer was brand new the cabinet doors were loose like you described. I'm sure the screws were over torqued when assembled. The match stick tip worked great.

    FYi, maybe was on putpose or doesn't matter/ doesn't bother you but when you put the slide on the drawer it was mounted flush to the bottom so it raised the drawer about a half inch.

    For those short and wide cabinet doors over the bed and kitchen sink, I swapped the side hinges for struts to hold them up instead of having them swinging out. Makes them much easier to leave open for access without bonking my forehead.

    Another great tip. I had the exact same thought to replace the drawer slides with soft-close ones at some point, especially the wide one above the fireplace. That's the drawer that I think is going to give us problems first.

    Another simple way to fix the weak drawer bottoms is replace it with 1/4 plywood. Usually the back of the drawer is only held on by some brad nails, simply pop it off, slide the flimsy bottom out, trace on ply and cut and slide the new ply in and install new brad nails.

      Great idea as long as the thicker material can slide in the same groove.

    Thanks Jered;
    I’m going to switch to soft close on our drawers. My wife is wondering how you Jeep the cabinets from opening. I beloved your doors have spring or tension on the doors. We don’t and have to bungee them. Might be our only solution.
    Thanks again

    So far, ours have held up nicely in our GD. Imagine. Great tip for when we're ready to do the fix. Two of our doors warped a bit. I'm not sure there is a fix for that. If you have any ideas, let us know. We love your content and have learned a lot.❤

      @AllAboutRVs  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Thank you. Sometimes you can minimize the effect or the warped door with the adjustments on the hinges. You can adjust in and out up and down to line it up better sometimes.

    I’ve gone the simpler route for some of our doors & drawers that like to flop open: small barrel bolts on the face frames. Not as pretty, perhaps, but easy and functional.

    I find it remarkable that you have “stuff” in your RV. Your videos usually show an empty RV.😊

    Another trick for fixing loose cabinet door screw holes is to jam a piece of zip tie in the hole. Now when you put the screw back in it's going to push against the zip tie and bite in to the wood. Heck, I've fixed cabinet doors in my house doing that. And everyone SHOULD have zip ties laying around.

    You're drawer slides came attached with screws? They just used those cheap staples on mine, haha.
    I'm planning on replacing the slides eventually with better ones. I'll make a note of these ones for when I'm ready for that project.
    Only drawer problem I've had so far was the bottom partially falling out on the big drawer under my stove. Turns out one of the thin plywood layers they notched into was bad and just crumbled to dust. So there wasn't anything holding up the front edge anymore. Managed to fix it for now with some epoxy, square dowel, and tiny nails, but at some point I'm going to replace the piece of plywood entirely. All my drawers are just a nice faceplate on the front of plywood, and most of the drawers are only half the height of their opening, which leaves them about 4 inches deep, so eventually I want to replace all the boxes and just keep the front fascia.
    On the bright side, they used nice, adjustable hinges for my cabinets so I've got them all swinging perfectly, haha. It's funny how they randomly upgrade and downgrade random little things like that from model to model or year to year (or sometimes just day to day because they had something on hand).

    Wood golf tee's work better for the door holes. I put some glue in the hole and gently hammer it in a little.

    An easier fix rather than a match is to use weed Wacker line...no gluing required..just cust to side and hold in place as screwing

    It looks like when you changed the drawer slides that the drawer was higher than it was before. In the video it looks like the new and old no longer line up. Is this the case? I looks like it raised the drawer above the cabinet doors by about 1/2 inch.

    I always thought soft close drawers did not need a latch. Is that true or not?

  • @calledtojourney

    Hey Jared, did you happen to remove the latch on the drawers after installing the soft close glides? Or leave them on?

    • @AllAboutRVs
      @AllAboutRVs  Před 6 měsíci

      One I left on and the other I took off. The reason why is I me stopped the slow close and the other didn’t. The slow close holds it closed well enough at this point so it doesn’t open when driving.

      Awesome, I might have to try that on some of our kitchen drawers in our Reflection 31MB, those plastic latches are junk.
