- Just got back from Watches and Wonders 2024! Had an amazing time with the @thatwatchguylondon crew who allowed me to tag along with them for the 2nd year running!
How was the show compared to last year and why did I come away feeling a bit meh.
let's get into it!

Thanks for stopping for a picture with my son at the Tudor booth. It made his day! You’re a class act and we appreciate you. “Dad, it’s the Mad Watch Collector!”
Absolutely my pleasure Lamar! Hope you enjoyed yourself!
Finally a proper review of it all! Not really made for us common folk, but it's fun to have the experience. Well done mate!
Thanks matey
Hey my sister called , said she wants her yoga pants back
@timedwards8171 I don’t know if she’d want them back!! I’ve made a huge bulge stretch in the from my friend!
Thank you! I happened into my local dealer and checked out their Tag Heuer beauties. I asked the guy what kind of movement it housed. He told me, “It’s an in-house movement.” I flipped it over, looked at it, and said, “oh, that looks like 2824 architecture.” He looked it up in their sales guide and, what do you know?! It’s based on the 2824. $3300 for a 2824 powered watch?
Those Bremonts were sexy! Especially liked the look of that cushion case Terra Nova!
I think the move away from sports watches is long overdue, I stopped watching reviews on dive watches 2yrs ago.
I'm definitely not a Rolex fan but I think their 1908 is brilliant and has replaced the Explorer as my favourite from that brand. My favourite watch this year so far is the IWC portugueser chrono. I'm pleased to see you all had a great time over there.
He's whelmed, but not overly.
At Nomos a lovely german lady spent 10 minutes with me showing the novelties!! And Tudor did catch my atention too...maybe in a near future a Cherry GMT could be in my wrist 😅
Thanks for taking us through. I probably couldn’t afford the coffee and chocolate they were handing out for free let alone any of the watches there, but as someone who appreciates horology, it’s good to know how the other half, or more like the tiny .1% live. Cheers!
I went there...and it's huge! But not being able to touch them was a litle shame for me 😢
What we need is a Value Watch World from 600 to 8000 range.
I believe Worn & Wound (later this year in NYC) will be more up your alley (And mine, frankly).
An AliExpress homage? "Watches Wonders and Wontons?"
@@karlsenula9495 hahahaha
There was another event in Geneva called Time to Watches, which was a bit like that
Nice you took my favourite watch, the BB58 OG. I would've worn that, too 😁
I'll bet Mr. Pagani got in with the press before you ... "Sir is that a photocopier you are dragging in? ... Ummm no it's my press recording device???"
Loved all the coverage from the streams, looks like you had a fun time with friends!
Good video, thanks for covering that.
Thanks for the summary Russ! I thought W&W had changed the approach from Baselworld and were allowing us common folk to touch the watches. I will probably go next year but felt the same as you this year the last time I went to Baselworld. 👍
Would’ve loved to have done Basel world Stu!
Russ, you have a better chance of winning the Wimbledon singles title than getting the brands to not allow the press to release the news of the new offerings before the public can get in. This is marketing - they wouldn’t spend hundreds of thousands otherwise.
Going to W&W next yr because my Tudor AD told me we customers will be able to tour the Tudor factory next yr. Should be quite a week. And I woke up at midnight to see their new releases and immediately got on the BB GMT Coke list. Can’t wait.
Good for you my friend!;) say hi to the robots for me!!!!;)
Thanks for giving us a peek at the magic of Watches and Wonders MWC! It must be amazing to get to see so many incredible watches up close.
I agree strongly ! Not enough tool watches !
The new Tag Heuer Monaco split second chrono looks insane, 4 pieces of sapphire crystal, parts of the watch take 30 hours to make, that movement is mind blowing as well. Yes it costs a fortune, but as a fan of the brand, i appreciate the fact that they just went ahead and made them.
Great "keepin' it real" overview of W&W, Russ. It's a far-off bucket-list trip for me (Worn & Wound later this year in NYC is an easier go for me...maybe you, too?), but hearing your take was vital for me, so *major* thanks for this!
That bremont with the lime green bezel looks Mint!
Oooh I like those Bremonts. Will have to keep an eye on them. Hope you had fun, MWC!
I wish there was another area where all the micro-brands could display their products, I think that would be the first place I would line up to see.
Love it! Thanks mate!
Love the t-shirt but cant help thinking it could have been
"Get Ya Ticks Out"...?
Great review of the show. I wish I shared your optimistic take on Bremont. I snatched up an S302 after I saw what was coming with the new range. Time will tell is right but I fear the new direction has lost a lot of what made Bremont appealing.
Of all the youtuber reviews, this was DEFINITELY the best !!
Love this channel. Doesn’t stray off into super cars or rap beefs. Not that that’s bad per se, it’s just that I like hearing about watches.
Hahahahaha
Your title is the best summary of this year's watches and wonders.
Well done for mentioning Bremont, I rather like their new releases. If you reach out to them, try and get a tour of their factory, I found it very interesting when I went 👍
Huge shout out to Russell. Lovely guy to briefly chat with at W and W (I was the sunburned skyflake wearer) I was very nervous and overwhelmed by everything he is just a cool, down to earth legend! Next time will bring the wife and convert her to watches other than the iwatch 😅
Top man! It was great to see you my friend! Glad you got back ok!
very insightful, did you notice how busy the Frederique Constant/ Alpina booth was? we went there both days and it was so busy.... making great watches for fraction of the cost of the "high end" brands.
Cheers Jonny! We did go there , not that busy but always people in. A funny couple of brands that are owned by Citizen?! FC have only been going less than 20 years but first n enter the open heart dial! and Alpina well I’m not a fan of the new seastrongs, more the heritage ones! But great history to take inspiration from!
Maybe there should be two Watches and Wonders shows. “Affordable Luxury” in the sub 5K range and “You’re having a laugh” watches up to a billion dollars and beyond. It’s no good going to this show with lemonade money and expecting champagne.
A micro brand watches and wonders and more affordable staple brands the average joe could afford would be cool. Micro's like Brew, Signum, Zolos, Islander,Lorier(not sure if there a micro) Mondaine ect. And of course a few staples such as Citizen, Seiko, Bulova, Casio. That average joes could go to just to walk around would be cool as hell.
Cheers Russ! Great recap- you need to get to a windup fair in NYC- a bit more down to earth... anything interesting from Nomos? Just curious :) The bb58 coke GMT is certainly super nice, but I still prefer the toolier vibe of the BB pro...
Glad you had a great time Russ - I like a good mooch as well.
Great vid RUSTY. I was quite impressed with those Bremonts! Hope you are well mate!
Great review, I really enjoyed watching it … Tag’s Carreras some of my faves of the show and you’ve convinced me to take a second gander at the Bremonts as well. Thanks!
Loved your summary of the show. Laughed out loud at your comments regarding speeding up the Bremont chap😂. Looked really good however. Going to pop onto their website now. Cheers🙏🏼
Thanks John!
The best review of Watches and Wonders 2024!!
Super review! Love your channel.
Nice one Russ.
Mmmhhh the Tudor was the right choose. I also get a lot of smilinc faces when they see the Bb58👍🏻
Dr. Jekyl and Mrs. Hyde, invasion on Watches and Wonders! Perfect review, for a sadden outcome!
One day I will see with my own eyes. But thanks it was very educational.
very good Russel nice video..
Thanks for your report, glad I didn’t go this year!
Interesting to see your view of the new Bremont watches. A lot of the comments I’ve seen online about them were, er, not exactly 100% positive.
Most commnets online from original Bremont fans is the direction they are going and what they are putting out is off brand and very disappointing. Time will tell.....
The fact that they ever had any success with their made up heritage and grossly inflated prices is baffling
I'd like a second look at that Bremont with thr compass bezel. Price that puppy competitively and who knows...
What a great review! Love your energy! Also, will check out the new Bremont Terra Nova!
Thank you for watching!!!!
Best highlight : we meet 😉
Will be in Geneva in few weeks just in time for as TGV describes fart sniffers to be gone by that point.
:)
I would love to go one day.
Great breakdown.
Great singing mate! 🎉
Thank you my friend!
I love your videos. Good work!
Thank you my friend!
I click the like button before your vids start. Thank you Russ.
You are a favourite of mine !
❤
I love that lime green Bremont diver. Pretty slick. I’d rock that shit.
Way to go Russ, tellin' it like it is.
Love the title :)
Cracking rendition of the beetle song RUSS my ears have not been the same since hearing it LOL
Thank you my friend!
the worst thing about Watches and Wonders is that the queues for the rides are so long!
I believe this was the case mostly for Rolex and Tudor who did not even allow to do hands on with the watches. Other brands were more or less available with little to none waiting and they often allowed to register for small group hands on sessions. Some brands even took a private session with you if asked nicely.
I'm planning a trip to W&W; hopefully next year. Do you think a 1-day pass is enough to visit all the brand exhibits? Or is it better to plan for a 2-day visit?
Saw you with Paul Thorpe at Watches and Wonders. Very good.
I completely agree. I'm especially disappointed by GS for once. And I much as I hate TH, they did great this time! Weird year...
Well i must say your take on watches and wonders this year is the best i have seen certainly beats over the top Nico, Paul and Barker and Roman sits on the fence he should have been a diplomat. any way well done RUSS.
Thank you my friend!
Nice video! Was that the wife at 1:59?
Hahahaha no that Kayla from That Watch Guy London!
Wow the watches & wonders went quick 😮
I do like Tudor but I'd rather have a vintage omega 😁
Watch market is about to go bust 😂😂😂😂
No Swatch group brands seems a bit of a miss.
I guess I had good reason to feel underwhelmed. I was wondering why it seemed the same handful of watch manufacturers were shown by most CZcams channels. Maybe I'm ignorant to this but wasn't Longines, Formex, Alpina, etc not there and worth talking to? Maybe those videos will trickle out? Who knows.
god i wish i had enough for a black bay 58 GMT. cant lie, its stole the somewhat attainable grail
oh what, no G-shock?
Did you go with Thorpe?
I was subscribed to your channel, but now for some reason I see that I was not... Damn CZcams ducking about
I would still prefer the Casio MDV-107-1A3VEF over the Tudor Geneve. Haha
you still might see Coke bezel from Rolex. when the current Pepsi SS was released by Rolex, it came out same time as Tudor Pepsi
If I was going I'd specifically order a Casio F-91W to wear just to be 'that guy' wearing a twenty dollar plastic fantastic thing amongst all the baller pieces on display and having to listen to the brands being full of themselves on their precious metals and crazy movements.
Does this mean I don't get haute horology or that I most definitely do?
Why would i want a TAG? I want a Heuer!
What do you mean go with friends?! I am a watch nerd I don't know what those are!
Hahahahahaha true!!!!!
I know 6 people who were lightly injured by the U-Boat line stampede.
Did you take part in the touch & feel sessions? Thats where the real fun (and opportunities for some serious freebie merch) lie! And btw: My observation was that the two most common watches worn by visitors were ceramic subs and pepsis. What do you think?
What were your thoughts on the bb41 monochrome form
Tudor?
I liked it matey, the thickness just kills me
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR oh .. it’s still a thick watch then?
I will never go but good information i can put to my useless info pile😂😂😂
Vacheron pocket watch has 63 complications actually
Sweet!!!
Nice to see you out and about Russ with Paul Thorpe, Spencer & Gav! P.S your a cracking singer
Thanks my friend!!!
Looking at some of these displays I can see why these watch companies have to charge so much for their watches. It’s not all design and R&D.
what?!! No SKMEI on wrist!! that would've learnt em... but probably get you a life ban..
No cheese? No fondue?
Are these watches any cheaper in thier own land (so to speak) than they are here? Stupid question I know
Inflation is a vicious mistress. It consumes the 1-10K buyers expendable income.
Good honest summary Russell. Given the choice of W&W or Dubai Watch week I'd definitely choose the latter as you can actually feel the watches there. Definitely agree that there seems to be a shift towards the higher end pieces but happy to see that Tudor is still knocking it out of the park for us mere mortals without infinitely deep pockets
I thought Basil was the largest show. 🤔
Basel world has been over for half a decade now!
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR 😳
Fawlty Towers?
I heard Bremont stands for “Literally nobody cares about Bremont watches” in all seriousness, they aren’t bad watches.
Did Vostok have a booth?😅
I’d rather go to another British Watchmakers Day.
I was keeping tabs on the new releases this year while I was at work, and besides a watch here or there, nothing really jumped out at me. Rolex was the most boring one. "Here's all the new watches! They are the same models as always, but look, GOLD! DIAMONDS! Go ahead and feel free to put your name on your local AD's waitlist!"
He looks like a crazy person
Make sure you keep the grifters at arms left.
I’m there for the watches matey
The economy is about to fall flat on its face similar to 2008 so people aren’t as excited about luxury anything.
