Casio Duro was and is the best beater cheap watch! But spare some money for a proper strap. Nothing can beat this watch. It looks awsome, it is water resistant, has a good size, just perfect.

Idk, i don‘t think it‘s a good value where I live. It costs 20€. The same as the W217 or the F105, both have a much better backlight. When I the say the same I mean all 3 watches are less than 2€ apart. If It‘d cost 10€, I‘d agree, but maybe it‘s because it‘s popularity has driven up the price, and it could be totally different in the US, but in europe It‘s not a good deal anymore compared to casios other watches.

Beater watch: Casio Gshock DW5600BB I got off facebook marketplace for $15 (!!!). It even came with the stainless wire screen guard. It needed a band, so I put it on a nylon NATO style band that I got from Amazon for $10 that even came with the adapters. My beater is a Timex Weekender. Only 30m WR but in my ignorant younger years, I didn’t really understand what that meant and I thought it was OK to swim and jump in the sea with.
Guess what, it survived many a holiday.
I broke it when trying to replace the battery myself so I’m on my 2nd one and this is going strong too.
I have G-Shocks that I love too but the Weekender is just so slim and unobtrusive. I love it.

Everyone most likely has a different idea of what their beater watch is. I spent my life running restaurants and towards the end I gravitated towards Luminox watches as my daily beater. They’re not crazy expensive, they’re accurate, and could take the beating that my chosen field provided.
Now that I’m retired my daily wearer ( I don’t beat it up so much now! ) is a Longines Skin Diver on a textile strap.
I can play sports and obviously swim with this watch on and I just love wearing it. I’m fortunate to have a couple of nicer watches to wear “out.”

The watch I've taken hiking and kayaking while on vacation last month is a Citizen Promaster Land (CB5921-59X) which I picked up when it was on sale for a deep discount. It's large, extremely readable, has mostly brushed finishing, a sapphire crystal, all night lume, solar, 200m WR, and radio sync. The bracelet was heavy so I put it on a Marine Nationale type elastic strap to lower the weight on the wrist. It has received quite a few whacks and hit a door frame or two, but it still looks fine.

My beater watch of choice is the G-shock dw6900. The round style looks better to me and the dial is a tiny touch better protected than the square G-shock. It's been my beater for the last 20 years. For beach vacations, I always take the Casio Duro. It looks the part, it's 200m wr and it's cheap and easy to replace so I don't care if it gets lost or stolen. Finally, my daily wear beater is Seiko Prospex SRPE93, the basic no frills Turtle. It's rugged, easy to wear and easy to replace since there's plenty available if something goes wrong. Really, these three could be my three watch collection and I'd be perfectly happy. Agree with your definition. The automatic Citizen "Lefty" 42mm is easily available for a reasonable price but the watch has been uprated, up priced and upsized by Citizen so the originals will like the SKX become harder to find as supply dries. Who knows what the price may be if it does become hard to find new. I've stashed a couple away just in case, a black dial/ bezel one and the full lume dial version (that one is and the blue sunburst dial are getting harder to find already). If you'd like one get it now while they're cheap.

Going to catch flak for this one, but my Speedmaster is my daily “beater”. It was a gift from my wife and I wear it most days of the week. I don’t baby it, I’ve broken a pusher (fixed), and I have no intention of ever re-polishing it. I love the patina it has developed. It is a tool watch after all.
I do have a Seiko Turtle for beach/pool/actual diving, which also acts as a beater. Especially when I travel to areas where wearing an expensive watch would be poor judgement.
These watches mean I can baby some of my more precious watches and bring them out for special occasions.

I have a couple beater watches. Two Citizen Eco-drives. Both radio controlled so I don't have to worry about setting them or batteries. I consider one to be my true beater for swimming etc and the other is like my upper end beater. I save my Rolex and Omega for when I go out and do stuff like dinners etc.

My good beater is is strange micro I bought years ago. 1000m ETA auto but no dive bezel, untreated 316l that scratches easily but just makes it look like a beater. Heavy,, tough n rough and just feels unstoppable. Got an old GShock and a 100m Citizen EcoDrive that are loved but not special enough to be upset about damage

I love the squares the best, but when I really need to do a rough "beater-ish" task I nearly always grab for my dw-6900. Just the regular old battery no frills one. desite me really not caring, it ironically has not a mark on it. Rinse it off and it's good as new lol. Can't seem to put a dent in it! Maybe I like the squares so much I don't want to mess them up too bad.

Aside from the obvious Casios/G-Shocks in my collection, my designated beater is my ISL-82 (v2) Islander Mitchell Field watch; DLC black case with an aftermarket black nylon Zulu strap. NH-38 keeps on going, sapphire crystal, DLC coating is far more scratch resistant than bare steel or standard PVD coating, and most importantly, the steel case is more chemical resistant than Casio resin and rubber. I say most important because this ISL-82 was my daily wear when I was an automotive technician, and after some regulation, had that thing ticking within seconds per week when tuned to my then weekly routine.

And as stated in the vid, my beater is a Casio, a GA700UC-8A. I also have a casiOak (solar), and though it wasn't a wallet killer I don't consider it a beater. The one thing in this world I can trust: Military Watch Company P656. Dig it - all titanium (case, back, and bezel), sapphire, 300m water resistance, low-pressure resistance, anti-magnetic, 10-year battery so it very rarely needs to be opened up, no date to fiddle with, and tritium illumination. Judge me if you will, but yes I sleep and shower with it, and when I go to the pub, I buy it a drink - but since it doesn't drink, I wind up with two drinks for myself. The best friend a man could have.
