You clearly put time into researching guild/festival trends and conveying the history of the races to fellow enthusiasts. I always learn new things from your videos and enjoy the approach you take of being honest film fans with a personal take on award season highlights (and without letting favoritism or film politics distract from your predictions). The year retrospective series is my favorite, like using a time machine. Keep up the great content.

Do what I did: pick a major Oscar category, and start there. I started w/ every Supporting Actress Oscar film and found some gems! Then Supporting Actor, etc. Two films in my all-time top 5 favorites came from doing this: The More the Merrier (‘43) & A Letter to a Three Wives (‘49).
It surprises me that anyone would be upset about your content. Ignore them. You guys are great - you need to watch Hal Hartley and Jean-Luc Godard’s films if you’ve not.

i find la la land so rewatchable - watched it 3 times in 2020 and i don't think i've ever actually loved it more. also about what you said about the importance of oscars, i completely agree. the week after parasite won best picture i took my parents to see it and there was pretty much no seat empty (it was a big screen at a cineworld cinema, not some tiny arthouse). if 1917 had won best picture, there would likely be a lot more empty seats at that screening.

I wonder if Oscar films like West Side Story will be moved to February or March, so it could qualify for the Oscars in April. I know for sure that West Side Story will not go to streaming, cause like Nolan, Speilberg isn't a fan of releasing his films to a streaming service(yea sure he's a producer on the Apple+ show Amazing Stories, but that's different, that's a Show, not a Movie).
I think its pretty normal that you love the films that you have seen at the movies. They stay with you more. People that are born in the 70s or 80s have very different tastes I find.

One tremendous but critically inaccurate biopic, A Beautiful Mind, one excellent murder mystery in Gosford Park, one fantastic fantasy adventure film, Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, one fun and stupendous musical, Moulin Rogue!, and one solid but not stupendous crime drama, In the Bedroom.
I don’t understand how people liked Sorry to Bother You or Annihilation. I thought both those movies were movies that started good and completely go off the rails and ruin the entire movie in the last 30-40 minutes
