    This movie was absolute perfection. Adam Driver needs to win best actor. And my god that screenplay! This is my favorite film of the year by far. I thoroughly enjoyed Parasite, I had a great time watching Ford V Ferrari, but Marriage Story... that's a movie that's really going to stick with me for a long time.

      Definitively, not a perfect movie . The film has many flaws. The acting by some of the support casts aside Laura Dern/Ray Liotta. Scarlett Johansson's sister had some terrible acting. So was the lady who came to Adam Driver's house to see how him and his son lived. I really was confused it they were just supposed to be acting that bad or was it for a bad comic relief thing? Wasn't a fan of some of the singing. Like the scene towards the end when Adam Driver randomly sings at that restaurant. So is this a musical now or what? lol That kind of reminded me of La La Land or something (BTW I loved La La Land). And why did the babysitter tell them they were both attractive?? That was so odd lol. Also, I didn't like how it was from a point of a view of sort of rich people. It would be a little more realistic from a middle class point of view in my opinion

    • @rupman27isback
      @rupman27isback Před 4 lety

      @Charlie Coles But why did he randomly sing? It felt so out of place. It would of fit better if the movie mentioned that he used to sing all the time. Or if he heard something about how singing could help. It just happened like if it was a musical.

    • @rupman27isback
      @rupman27isback Před 4 lety

      @Charlie Coles the most emotional part was the argument scene. Specifically when he tells her he wishes she was dead.

    I think we can have one of the tightest and graziest Best Picture races ever. In my scenario we have a race between FIVE movies. We have obviously two Netflix gems The Irishman and Marriage Story. I am now really thinking that 1917 will be a huge frontrunner as well. Jojo Rabbit as a dark horse pick if it wins Comedy / Musical at the Globes. People are adoring Parasite and call me grazy but I can see it as a dark horse pick as well.

    Marriage Story is most likely winning best picture I won’t even argue about that one as well as Original Screenplay. Actor on the other hand, ehhhhh I still have my money oh Phoenix mainly becaue not only was he amazing in the film, but he also had to completely transform his body and his mind which the academy LOVES when actors/actresses do that.

    • @oskari7121
      @oskari7121 Před 5 lety

    Here's what a lot of people need to understand is that movies don't go on huge sweeps at the Oscars anymore, we've seen recent Best Picture winners win only BP a screenplay award and an acting award the academy likes the spread the wealth these days, In fact Picture and Director rarely line up and I feel like people should really take this into consideration before going all out with Marriage Story for their predictions this award season

    Just saw it last night and I thought it was good. Nothing great or flawless in my opinion. I really did appreciate the realism of the movie. How it showed all the legal things the couples had to do and what they went through. The scene stealer was the argument between the two leads in his apartment. That was truly incredible. What I didn't care for was the acting by some of the support casts aside Laura Dern/Ray Liotta. Scarlett Johansson's sister had some terrible acting. So was the lady who came to Adam Driver's house to see how him and his son lived. I really was confused it they were just supposed to be acting that bad or was it for a bad comic relief thing? Because a divorce is bad on a child no matter what, but it's easier when a child has some great support around him. I know this from personal experience, and had the opposite. But overall, good movie. I would rate it a solid B grade.

    Looks to be a lot of blue pilled guys in this thread! The movie was fantastic. It may be one of my favorites of the past 5 years. But POSSIBLE SPOILERS. Yes, about 1/2 of marriages end in divorce. Women file about 80% of them and they're not typically against brutal thugs but the nice guys women say they want. They can leave for any reason, or no reason at all. The line of the movie that explains everything is by Driver stating to Scarjo, "You wanted this life... until you didn't." Sure he isn't perfect. There was an infidelity after she had already kicked him to the curb. She destroys her family and turns his life upside down because she felt like it. That is horrifying. And the family courts have been turned into a nightmare where men are treated like garbage. She did this but ends up with sole custody, her lawyer paid for, child support and takes a man's son from him to another side of the country. Learn grasshoppers. Protect yourselves.

    Dear The Oscar Expert
    For me I guess Marriage Story not win at the Oscars 2020 for Best Picture it goes to Joker for me, even though both of the films not been watch yet... Why?? It is a collective thoughts and predictions of movie industry critics and other Oscars experts the veteran ones.. But Marriage Story one of my top 30 movies I want to watch because of Oscars contention for Best Picture
    I like your thoughts The Oscar Expert how you review about the movie (Marriage Story) because that's your own opinions but for me and advance saying i'm sorry all I can see the Marriage Story for yours in my minds are biased opinions and sorry again to saying that to you both and I know I didn't know personally and i'm not saying that you are wrong about that and I respect that
    Marriage Story still got nominations specially for Best Picture.. Look it up again like last year won Best Picture Green Book versus Roma because the voters at the Academy is want a message and revolutionary move from a movie for Best Picture to win like Green Book, Green Book a message of the film was racist in reverse (remember the Driving Miss Daisy movie?, Green Book is the answer about that), I disagree about saying that Joker is no one can relate, no no no my friend many movie goers might be relate on.. because Joker message of the film is about mental illnesses and society problem that now is the real problem of today, Joaquin Phoenix character as Arthur Fleck is suffering of society discriminations and bullying that's why Joker was born on him society created him as in real life the criminals of todays society made them because of poverty, discrimination and igronance for them... I don't say that Marriage Story is not a relatable movie, yeah some of us are driving through to the divorse process but for me in general aspects not all couple going like that they separated but no talking about divorse just acted like not married and ignore each other or worst in bath blood fight.. Joker might relate the people in general that what I say in past few sentences. And that's why a say this look it up whom are the new members of the Academy and one of them are Lady Laga, Adele, Rami Malek, Sam Smith and etc.. In the offense of Roma last year runner up at the Oscar for Best Picture in why this movie didn't win, last year Roma is the top to win for Best Picture in all critics and prediction charts in all sites and the reason was because it is a Netflix film and why again because the Academy voters saw it is not a cinematic exprience because thier reason Netflix might kill the movie industry that instead you go a watch of movies in theaters now you can watch a movie at home or where ever you are through our gadgets instead paying at the movie theaters which is already dying because of the all streaming services poping up today
    Still it is the case of Netflix movies even though thier a strong contender for the critics and prediction charts for the race of Best Picture specially at the Oscars..
    and say this my friends even though we're not really friends that it is all about campaigns strategies, showbiz buzz and a revolutionary massege of the film, I ask about this all to you The Oscar Expert why Roma, Brokeback Mountain, Avatar, Saving Private Ryan, Dunkrik, The Revenant, La La Land, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri etc.. and all lost at the Oscars for Best Picture (all of that movies was great) and explain to us because the name of your channel called The Oscar Expert, i'm not saying that iI am an expert on this nor i'm in the showbiz industry
    I admit that both Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson got nominations on thier respected categories but I see both might be fail to win, tbe industry is see's Joaquin Phoenix win for Best Actor and Renée Zellweger win for Best Actress and that I can only say for now and admitting that not yet watch all this movies (Marriage Story, Joker & Judy), The crictics, predictioner's charts and movie industry see why Joaquin Phoenix and Renée Zellweger they say is "thier time" and I can say for the acting categories are Joker is a phoenominal pop modern culture icon and the sympathy of tragic life of Judy Garland and one of the most loved and adored as a showbiz legend and one of the most controversial in show business personality in the industry liked Rami Malek who won last year for Best Actor for playing as Freddy Mercury in the movie Bohemian Rhapsody

      Todd Phillips for best picture? Um yeah no, that's never going to happen. Phoenix has a shot at actor, that's probably the most plausible of all your predictions but even then I'd give it to Adam Driver before Phoenix, and i'd also give it to Robert Ne Niro before him too. All 3 terrific performance and like I said Phoenix h ass a shot for sure. But your other predictions, i'm sorry to say, are just total trash buddy.
