Your dholl puri is the best. The secret is to put enough oil. Thank you very much for sharing your recipe. Much appreciated. You are the best. Am from Sydney, Australia
Tous Jour mauricien bizin fair palab.. De lhuile sipa ki.. Si ou pa like pa geut video la.. Simple.. Very nice Laila, just avoid the GRO POUMON...
Too much oil why not just use the boiled. Water from the shall?
Love the way you explain
Tried ur recipe today. Turned out really soft. Tried soo many different ways of making the dough b4 bt never turned out as soft. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Thank you very much Leila. I like very much your recipes, can’t go wrong with you. God bless!

just lovely to watch will try it soon, thanks
Monique De Oliveira thank you for your appreciations
I can see you are very patient with the negative comments and I really appreciate your humble behaviour. I will try to make and tell you about it
Stop pandering, it's constructive criticism.
Very nice dholl puri. Tried the recipe. Masha Allah
Was going to ask you for the dholl puri and here it is. Thank you. Hope to see the chana puri soon.
yes i will stay tunned
Amazing! In the Caribbean, specifically in Trinidad they make dhal puri too. It is very close to how you are making it. They use the same split peas. The only difference is they don't put the food colour and the dhal looks more grainy and dry looking. Sometimes they add a little cumin powder to the dhal. Trinidadians love their dhal puri with their curries. Yours looks so yummy. I am going to try your recipe. I just love the similarities.
Just tried this... omg its amazing🥰😍
Looks yummy!! Will definitely try it..
Hi very good demonstration ... I like the pan
Thanks Laila 🙏u always give all in details. And as usual u make me feel hungry. Love from u. K
Thanks for the great recipe. I tried the dhol puri for the fist time it came out not too bad but a bit on the hard side. Now I understand why it required quite a bit of oil in order to keep it soft. Will try with a bit more oil next time...Thanks from Canada... thank you for taking the time to put up this video we Mauritians always miss the dhol puri.
Hello dear thanks for watching try again until you get it right never give up
Oui moi aussi j'avais pas mis assez d'huile - it was ok but next time it will be better now i know how to improve- merci Leila
J'ai fait les dhall puri en même temps que vous et pour la première fois j'ai réussi je vous dit un très grand merci de la Belgique

Hi Laila, i tried the dal puri, it was so yummy. Thank you so much.
great dear am happy to hear that
@@lailajugon1802 its to much oil
Thank you for sharing this recipe and your little hints like too much flour makes a hard dal puri and you need to oil the entire surface. I’m going to try again cooking this Mauritian delicacy. My Mauritian mum did dal puri this way (only difference is she added cumin seeds - a matter of taste).
Hi dear cumin seeds or powder can be added yes I just don’t because of stomach issue but I’m glad to hear you are going to try it please let me know how it turns thank you
Hello...liked your video... Is it more than one cup of oil.. Or I have to put extra oil
Hi dear thanks for watching I've used 1 cup (220 ml) of oil in the dough and you will need about 1/2 cup for brushing the dholl puri on the tawa
Don't you add baking powder to the dough? All the recipe I've tried had baking powder but it came out like roti. I'm curious to try yours
No I never add baking powder to my dholl puri dear please try this way you'll love it
Hey thanks for the recipe can u tell me where u buy the peas grinder
If you are in Mauritius you can find it Rose hill Raptown
Hi, can u show me how's the machine looks like??
The grinder machine
Hi that looks great, like an authentic Dewa Dhal Puri, just want to ask whether you put any bicarbonate in the flour?
Hi dear sorry for the late reply i did not add any bicarbonate to the dholl puri please click on the link mentioned to get the full written recipe
Laila's Home Cooking and Spices ..many thanks for replying dear.
Bicarbonate not zot pu mor ar sa menti sa enn lot sa merci
Nice
good day miss laila can you show me how to do bus up shot. thank you for sharing your recipes
Hi Laila, i also add baking power to the flour dough and the dhall puri comes out really fluffy and soft. By the way where are you from?
2y66 I'm from Mauritius live in Canada I just speak English because CZcams is international and I never add baking soda or baking powder in my Roti or dholl puri because if you do your dholl puri and roti will never stay soft the next day
Hi Laila how are you? Can you kindly do a vlog on the recipes for the dhal purri fillings plz?
Mille merci
Bien bon
Which brand of flour u r using? It is five roses or the other one which is in the yellow packet
They are both good I've used the yellow ones
What causes yhd chalpuri to get spots on them?
Hi Laila, how much water did you use in this recipe please?
Hi dear you use water as needed enough to make a dough check the written recipe in the description box
Thanks a lot Layla for this amazing recipe . I was in search of the dhollpuri recipe which was like Marchand and thanks to you I have got it now . I made it yesterday and it was amazingly nice . May Allah bless you and give us more beautiful recipes
Aameen. Thank you so much for your appreciations and kind words. I'm so happy to hear that your dholl puri turns yummy
Why did you use food coloring in the dough? Use the water from the dahl.
Because dholl is starchy and so flour when they both get together it's not good I used to use dholl water but not anymore
great idea
How much water exactly please? I think the exact water measurement is important to get soft dhal puri's like yours. Thank you!
Can I use Rapeseed oil? 🤔
top mo soeur, , you do not use the split peas water for the dough?
Not for this one but I have posted another Dal puri recipe and I used the Dal water
@@lailajugon1802 ok its smoother with the dal water ?? but Taste is better with dal water ii noticed..
Lovely video really enjoyed it... just worried 😟 to use too much oil , cuz of health problems... otherwise they look soft cuz of the usage of oil ...
Thank you Laila for your patience and sharing your knowledge. You have helped me with so many recipes. You are amazing at what you do. Don’t worry about those idiots who have nothing better to do and think its OK to criticise others. Like the saying goes “ le chien aboie la caravane passe”. If you don’t like her videos or her accent then just don’t watch! Life is too short to bother about petty people! Bonne continuation Laila.
What is the name of the grinder...? Thanks
Ho dear I really don't know the name but you can find it in the market
Marvin Lewis its a food mill
Hi laila.. which beans did you use?
Hi dear I've used yellow split peas
In Dhall puris, you should only use yellow split peas ,and no other peas or beans
@@lystaylorlt u mean dalle gramme?
moris panchoo I call it yellow split peas
Thank, you for letting me know that Dahlpuri, and roti are different, thanks
Nice, but no baking powder with all purpose flour?
Yes no baking powder
Thank you! I will try it..
Hi dear do you put roasted cumin powder in your dhall.
Hi dear I didn't add but yes you can add 1-2 teaspoon
Thanks Leila you are the best.
@@doorganoruthun6580 OMG dear I really appreciate what you said thanks so much
Well done laila very good recipes step by step. From r fariyah ex student of Macmillan college Riviere des anguille
Thank you dear
U hv revealed the secret ingredient
Hello laila you do not put cumin in your dhall? Ok i will try it seems yummy❤️❤️❤️👀
you can if you like but i like it plain because roasted cumin stays in stomach for a while that's why i don't use cumin in dall puri
What r the measurements of your ingredients?
Hi dear the measurements with full written recipe is under the video in the description
Everyone does cook their roti different.
True
Ann marie George its not roti its dhal puri
Nice👍👍👍❤🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺
What happened to the baking powder?
No baking powder
There's no need to put so much oil in the flour
Hi dear by doing it this way your dholl puri will stay soft until the next day without warming it
It appears to be a lot but it equals three tablespoons of hardened shortening. Same difference. Chef’s preference. Oil or shortening (lard).
It is natural food colouring? That's my only concern. I see some people use the water from the boiled peas which I have tried and it had a really lovely colour.
Hi i sar you puting lots of oil on your do how do you know when to stop. And yet the Dalpuri will be soft❔
Hi dear please check the link for full written recipe you will have an idea for the amount of oil
Topo Laila
Are you Mauritian
sorry I forgot a pinch of bicarbonate of soda also helps!
Should be called Oil Puri.
Hi dear if you pay attention I add the oil little by little and if you really want to know how much oil I used for 3 lbs of flour is just 1 cup of oil the full written recipe is on the link

Thank you
You are welcome dear
Hi you did not add bakeing power to the dough.
No baking powder at all
No baking powder used
Absolutely no baking powder no baking soda click on the link for written recipe
Hello there - just came across this video. I tried to make dholl puri in the past but the end result is too hard more like a farata than a soft dholl puri. After watching your video I concluded it may be because there was not enough oil in the dough - would you think that is the main reason too?
Definitely good dholl puri needs enough oil do it my way you'll have an amazing result and your dholl puri will stay soft until the next day you can also find the written recipe on the link below the video
Great! I will give it another shot! Great videos btw! I am glad I found your channel!
You should use the water from the dhal, add cumin /or fennel seed. Also I think you should cool the dhal after cooking, if you grind it hot it tends to be too soft, like mash, instead of flake. I wished I leant from my mama, she made the best!! Enjoy cooking..
Thanks for sharing with us dear I never add bicarbonate or baking powder to my dhal puri because it's already soft without it. And the dhal has to be warm to grind perfect and very fine and also I sometimes add cumin but never fennel
Better she did put saffron to mix the dhal instead of colouring
Trinidad is the place where dhalpuri is born. A bit different from yours

Too much oil
so much oil cholestorol
Hi dear you can use sunflower oil for this recipe other than that good dholl puri requires oil
too much oil in your dough
I did mention that eating good dholl puri has no diet, however dear you can absolutely reduce the amount of oil
The best dal puri in Mauritius is from a seller named Dewa..check his videos on CZcams, then you’ll see how much oil he adds in his dal puri ..the more oily the dough the best the dal puri is ..
It’s a street food by the way ,not really part of a healthy diet ..and this is what I eat everyday when I goes on holiday to Mauritius 🇲🇺

if the oil is too much, add what you are comfortable with
To much oil
My dear I'm Mauritian and I just want to say sadly our Mauritian dholl puri has a lot of oil and honestly the one they sell outside has even more oil than you think so my dear please don't make this dholl puri if you can't eat oil thank you dear
To much oil.
food colouring in dhal puri. no no nooooo!
The public must be aware of how much oil to consume per day. Indeed it's very slow and not perfect.
That’s not traditional dal puri
Not dhal puri its roti
As lm my kid say u r speaking English don't say dhall say lentil
Alright my dear I will say yellow lentils now
It’s called dal puri in Mauritius..not lentil puri or whatsoever lol
Teach that to your kids in case one day they’ve got to visit Mauritius ,so that the dal puri sellers won’t take a pissed at them ..thank you 😉
