Nobody here is talking about the infamous stick drift. Quest 2 is notoriously bad for stick drift. What can I expect out of the quest 3 stickdriftwise? Because that would be the final selling point I need. Without it, it's a no, I'd never buy this.

Fellas fellas, how about we take a little personal responsibility for our income and not blame the government, otay? If you have a job doing something literally anybody could, why should you be paid a premium? Learn more skills, get a better job, make more money. I was making 15/hr before covid and i'm making 45/hr after swapping jobs a few times and growing my skillset. Only thing the government does is take it all once you earn more. I pay 22,000 in taxes each year.

Better edge-to-edge clarity of the pancake vs fresnel lenses is the main selling point to me. As long as they don't mess up PC VR compatibility, Q3 should be an incremental upgrade over Reverb G2. I just wish they had a higher resolution and better audio.

I haven’t been using my Quest 2 much because of the heat but I am getting Quest 3 day 1! I will use it no matter what. I’m excited for the new lenses and the ar functions! 😃
My Q1 hasn’t run VRChat in maybe a year now 😭 it failed long before their announcement. So.. I’m apprehensive about the rumored Q3-lite
I want it because i'm excited for XR, this is the first step in shrinking em down to glasses and have a device that can do something for everybody.
I am very curious about the Quest 3. The main things that hold me back from getting one are:
- Knowing I'll have to mod it for comfort
- Knowing I'll have to provide my own decent audio solution
- The compression artifacts using Oculus Link
Because I'm only interested in using it for PCVR.
I'm currently using an HP Reverb G2, and my complaints about it are the hand controller quality and the microphone quality.

I plan to pre order as soon as it’s available. I just wish Meta or other stores offered Quest system trade ins because I don’t see myself returning to the Quest 2 after getting the new headset.
That would be nice! My Quest 1 might be valuable as a future collector’s item but it’s been a paperweight basically since the day I got it. 😅$200 was my budget but it did not last long after getting it from meta themselves refurbished. VRChat stopped working pretty early on (before they ever announced it would no longe work.)
Although more expensive, if you want mixed reality with full color passthrough and overall better lenses along with increased performance the price is not unreasonable in my opinion. Whether current Quest 2 owners want to upgrade to Quest 3 is of course a personal decision. They may have a number of accessories that are specific to the Quest 2 and to replace those with the Quest 3 version will be an additional cost they need to factor in. I don't know what the resale value will be for a used Quest 2 but it will help reduce the cost a bit. I am looking forward to getting a Quest 3 but don’t currently have a Quest 2. I liked your video thanks for creating it.
Paid $149 for my refurbished 64GB Quest 2. I mainly use for PCVR so I doubt I'll be getting a quest 3 anytime soon.
That's a great deal actually! The best budget way to play PCVR. Pancake lenses would make a huge difference though, I wonder, have you ever tried any other headsets besides Quest 2?
@@DiscoVRTetiana I used to own a Samsung Odyssey and a Acer WMR(only had a month before switching to Samsung) headset. I might be interested in Q3 at $300 but with higher resolution capabilities I would also consider a video card upgrade. Currently have 3080.
Meta quest 2 goggles had the battery issue were it wasted too quick and it seems this one’s have the same issues and you need a PC to run this goggles and other factors along the way that make this goggles a pain in the arse to use.Also when oculus 2 were fresh out of the box they looked very clear then they get blurry and I believe the same will be with this one after a while of use they will get a blurry visual.The oculus2 were a rave for a very short time then you end up seeing them at pond shops and I think this will be the same case.

Damn skippy I'm getting a Quest 3! Looks to be better than Q2 in every conceivable way. I'm just not in any hurry cause I already have a Q2 and my beloved psvr2 takes up most of my VR time.
I'm a little curious about the AR stuff, but I have a feeling I won't use it much.
This years Connect will tell me if I even need to get it this year or if there is no reason to just wait until some exclusives come out. One thing I think Zuck is 100% wrong about, is forcing developers to support Quest 2. IMO developers should be able to choose themselves whether they want to do cross gen games (makes financial sense obviously) or whether they want to make something that simply cannot be done on Quest 2, which will actually sell the Quest 3. Telling them they HAVE to support Quest 2 makes me believe all we're gonna get for two years is barely improved Quest 2 ports.
That's probably my biggest (and only real) concern. That I'd buy the thing and then basically only have slightly upgraded Quest 2 ports to play for years. I don't care how great the pancake lenses are or how good the AR is, I'm not paying $600 to play (mostly crappy tbh) games from a generation ago. I'm paying $600 for the NEXT generation of games.
I'm definitely picking up the Quest 3. My Quest pro has already let me enjoy a number of the upcoming features in some form such as pancake and having colour pass-through and I couldn't possibly go back to the Quest 2 now that I'm used to them.
I'm hoping the depth sensor clears up the remaining quirks of hand-tracking so that the only issue we'll have is full occlusion and being outside of the tracking area... I'd honestly like some self-tracked neural interface bracelets to do 'perfect' hand tracking but that still hasn't materialised yet despite zuck showing them off a while back now :o
That said, I'm unsure what I'm up to with my pro once the Q3 comes out. Originally I was confident I'd hold on to it and use it for PCVR stuff that needs eye-tracking but there's honestly very little that does and even in stuff like VRChat that it works with, there's surprisingly few avatars set up to use facial tracking currently :/
Interesting. I'll definitely wait for the reviews before pulling the trigger. I've owned every oculus VR headset since the CV1 and now I feel like my VR home is on PSVR. I sold my Quest 2 back when Facebook was enforcing their account link and ID requirements. I'm glad they dropped that, it has made me interested in the Q3. If comfort is a step up from Q2 that will play a part - as the price doesn't seem to bad but you really have to factor in the accessories like headstrap and prescription lenses etc to weight up if it's all worth it!
It's a mistake comparing storage size between generations. The cost of storage has dropped substantially since 2020 and storage demands typically increase too. It would've been fairer to compare both base models from each generation.
I wish Meta/Oculus would just create a headset that rips out all the AR components that I'm never going to use so we can just focus on VR. Imagine how much more powerful VR or even AR headset could be it wasn't trying to do both.
I'm really only interested in playing video games in VR and would love a wireless headset that pours all of its tech into just that.
I realize that Meta wants this to be a social tool, but I don't feel like that's what people actually buy it for. So I for one would actually like a product made for the gaming customer.
I’m just gonna stick with my quest 2 for now because it still works, I bought a bunch of upgrades for it, and I have my suspicions that meta will do what they did with the pro and remove a bunch of features before launch

Well I promised my mom my Quest 2 since Meta phased out the Quest 1 I gave her so I'm upgrading for sure, but the lens, hand tracking & weight distribution on my reasons for wanting to upgrade
Its the 570 euro that is holding me back. Simply can not affort that plus a 3rd party strap will be 600 in total.
30 bucks for 3rth party? 650 a 700 bucks for 512 gig. 150 for headstrap replacement. 50 bucks for facecover replacement. Same price as ps5 and psvr2 together.

The 3 is literally better in every way. Unless you mean face tracking, but honestly the mouth moving is good enough, and if there could be an algorithm for hearing your voice and making facial expression that match your tone would be awesome

I think I'm finally going to buy a VR headset, the Quest 3. The main thing that held me back was the wire for PC VR and how bulky they were. The Quest 3 is slim by VR standards and AirPlay removes the need for the cord.

No increased FOV is what is deterring me, as a PCVR and psvr2 user the upgrades in resolution are pointless as my 3060ti wouldn’t be able to hang anyway.

@@lucasd6880 I just brought it. Tracking didn't seem bad on CZcams beatsaber video, can upgrade to pro controllers if needed and I don't need the best graphics. Comes with AR too. The other option to to spend on a $1500 headset so this is a good entry to VR.

I'm not entirely happy with it even now tbh, it's alright, but I prefer the first one honestly - in terms of comfort, lenses, colour saturation, library etc

The comfort and tiny sweet spot sucks, but other than that, I freaking LOVE the thing. I fixed my comfort issue with an addon from Amazon (globular cluster ftw) and it also happened to ensure the thing won't slide or wiggle at all, which basically fixed my sweet spot annoyance issue as well. Considering it's only been out six months, I'd say the library is doing pretty good so far. (if you had realistic expectations) It's already got more AAA games than anyone else (minus pcvr) and if there is a port on it, it's usually the best version of the game.
Also I love the controllers and the haptics. (though if you have big hands, you literally might not be able to even use it)

I've never played virtual reality but I'm buying the oculus 3. Is it hard to figure out to play games?
Please help me, I can't get any of these other VR channels to respond to me at all. My question is, I have a Quest Pro, I bought it thinking it was going to be great for gaming like DCS World & stand alone. Should I get a Quest 3 to replace it? I have never used it for anything work related. All I care about is mainly playing DCS World, stand alone games & if the IR projector/depth sensor does this, be able to use it while kicked back in bed. Any thoughts you have are greatly appreciated! Thank you!
I got both and am very confused myself but I dont really *see* too much difference beside the visual clarity with wifi 6 and pcvr. its just so very uncomfortable to wear that for now I stick to my quest 2 until bobovr M3 strap comes around

I personally think its missing 2 key features that make me question not its value but whether or not its a non-starter. Basically it comes down to the same criticism as the Bigscreen Beyond and that is in 2023 I’m not sure I want a new headset without eyetracking and piss poor FoV these are to me must have features over and above standalone or AR (or the size factor in the case of the BSB) but what can you say Meta wants to produce a thing and then sell that thing…. I get they’ve improved on many features just not some of the really important ones this time around so of course they promote the good things and don’t want to talk about the others like a game of PR smoke and mirrors
The big screen beyond has a max of 90fps and For that money I would rather have 120fps
90Hz @@spidermonkeynr1 display refresh rate does not equal fps but yes I tend to agree. However you have to keep in mind DisplayPort1.4 would have to compress that so you could end up with less latency but a worse picture until DP2.0 is more widely available.
Day 1 buy, got into vr with psvr2, excited to see what meta have in the works and something i can pair to a pc which psvr2 can not.
Quest 3 still won't play AAA level games standalone and is too small a technical leap to justify a purchase. Add in the cost of a charger, better head-strap, and other accessories, plus 256GB of storage will fill up quickly so one would best advised to purchase the 512GB version - and the cost doubles. No thanks.

My controllers got stick drift on both and my strap is broken completely i made a DIY strap but other rhen that it runs completely fine
My pupil distance is 55m which is below average and i heard the quest 3 is suitable dor 53mm because of the oancake lenses.
One last thing how would it affect pcvr would it look better more crisp more frames? (Aka how will vrchat look compared to the quest 2)

I doubt it, Quest 3 will have completely different lenses, it's very unlikely that they will have the exact same shape and size to match the prescription lenses for Quest 2 :(

The mixing of VR and AR is the future and no, $499.00 is not too much I paid 650 for a limited series X at best buy.

This headset should attract more AR developers, since it excels at AR and offers an attractive app platform.
...unlike Apple's storm trooper goggles, which are priced into the stratosphere - those may become popular amongst rich out-of-touch youtubers and die-hard Apple fanatics, but I don't see them becoming widely adopted, even with Apple's marketing hype machine on full throttle. Also, I expect there will be a lot of returns due to buyer's remorse once people realize how limited the device is.
I keep hearing influencers say the Vision Pro will be "adopted by businesses", but I don't see the appeal. There are better choices for business AR devices which already have business-oriented software available.

The Pico 4 is only really useful for PCVR. Their game library is so minimal.
Seems premature to compare if it’s worth it before we’ve even had a quest 3 to test. Let’s not forget what a mess Meta made of the quest pro which, on paper, was far superior, but ended up being a hot mess

Quest 3 is the usual hardwareupgrade in the VR-Industry....a little bit better here and there, but too expensive for the average customer, lots of "youtube-hype" and than later on, nothing follows.
It needs to be 299-399€ to have impact. So i am curious about it, but i am someone from inside the bubble. Lets pray if those Nintendo rumors about their own VR-Device are true...that would be a big hit.

I remain pretty anti-META, but I do follow it, and (technologically-speaking) I think that there’s a lot to be encouraged by about this new consumer-grade system.
My sense is that the improvements over Quest 2 will translate into experiences that are profoundly fuller than what some are expecting.
While it might be easy to simply look at specs and think “2 x 1 = 2”, the implementation of machine-learning (which continues to progress at a staggering pace) could easily deliver functionality to this system that is literally impossible to predict right now.
So… while I still don’t plan on buying it, I think it could be a meaningful step in the evolution of VR and AR.
I think $500 is too much, when quest 2 came out, they had $50 discounts everywhere. Also people compare starting price to starting price, we all know these companies make a ton on increased memory options.

With the poor FOV that Quest 3 is going to have, I'll definitely stay with PICO 4 and I'm waiting for PICO 5, which I know is going to kick Quest 3's ass, nobody cares about mixed reality or augmented reality, most people care about virtual reality.

I don't think the Quest 3 will ever reach the numbers of the Quest 2. The Quest 2 had the advantage of the pandemic and many Quest 2 devices are gathering dust in peoples homes. Even if they use the Quest 2, I don't think occasional users will upgrade to the Quest 3. Also people who just start in VR have to choose between the Quest 2 for nearly half the price of the Quest 3 or the latter. For me, as I'm lucky to have the necessary cash to buy the Quest 3, it is no doubt that I'm gonna buy it. My Quest 2 is nearly 3 years old and even though I have the Pico4 I'm ready for something new. I like the new controllers and believe that the new CPU, together with the 3D pass through is enough to "justify" buying one.
