    Thanks Dalton for doing the vid. I’m about to do the 5hrs OC on the BR600 and thought about looking a vid to see if someone would come up with an idea to do it less messy, the drain screw for the motor it’s located on the bottom sides of the motor and once open it’ll drain right on the support plate, making a mess, I’ve thought about making a little plate made of aluminum foil to direct the used oil to my waste container underneath, same as you have it there.
    The water pumps it’s no problem swapping the oil, it’s just swapping the motor oil that could be a mess if I don’t plan ahead.

      I just found that out with the RB400, and was angry beyond words. All I wanted to do with just check the level, and when I unscrewed it, it borderline launched out of the engine. The John Deer dealership I purchased mine from, put it together, and did the initial start up, added oil/gas, etc... I thought, and still wonder, if they added WAY too much oil. But, I had a hell of a mess when I removed that cap, and it didn't matter which side cap I used. TERRIBLE design.

      As an fyi, the specs for the pump indicate the oil fill quantity is listed at 16.9oz or 500ml. And the recommended oil is SAE 15W-40 non- detergent. If regular motor oil is used, you will soon notice, thru the pump’s window, foam forming. also note, the manufacturer of the pump is Mi-T-M, Model Mi 3-0413. just in case you need to order parts.

    ***He’s changing the pump oil, not the engine oil*** The engine oil is/are the two yellow plastic screw caps on each side of the face of the unit. The right facing cap is the engine oil dipstick. The left facing cap is the engine oil drain & fill. The pump uses SAE 30 oil. The engine uses 10w-30 oil.

    *Worked great **Bestfor.Garden** also recommend my 2017 2800 Pressure washer, quieter than the original pump which I replaced only because it cracked after replacing the pressure valve. 3 bolts, aligned it and made sure the magnet inside fit. I put a picture of the original and the new one installed.*

    That’s the oil pump oil you are changing ? Is that seperate to the engine oil double dipsticks ?

    • @daltonshearer1601
      @daltonshearer1601  Před 2 lety

      Yes, they are 2 separate systems. There is no dipstick for the pump. You have to open the top bolt on the pump and look in it.

    URGENT CLARIFICATION NEEDED!
    To top up the oil do you go from the top or where the dipsticks are ?

    How much oil did it need? Without an indicator, how do you know when you have the right amount?

      @daltonshearer1601  Před 3 lety

      It took about 6 oz. I filled it till it was just under the bottom of the fill port.

      @@daltonshearer1601 thanks! I’ve been looking for answers in manuals and online for a couple of days. Even the local Stihl shop didn’t know. Why do you think the ones with the sight glass fill about half to 3/4, while these fill nearly to the top?

      @@jasonphillips624 I'm not sure, that was the level it was at when I bought the pressure washer brand new so I figured that's the level it should be at.

      @@daltonshearer1601 I just got a response back from Stihl. It is suppose to be 3.5 oz.
      Dear Mr. Phillips,
      Thanks for reaching out. The pump on that unit holds 3.5oz of 15w40 oil, or STIHL pump oil.
      Best regards,

      Confusing, Kohler States the engine needs 0.63 qts full synthetic 10w50 into the side dip sticks..and Stihl calls for 3.8 qts of 30w non detergent oil in that very small pump housing. I'm sure it's supposed to be ounces, but.....
