      Rabbi Tova I am not a trinitarian I never have been it drives me crazy and I will argue to the death with somebody about the Trinity. I know there is one God and only one God. But like you said I will never forget this. Exodus 7:1 And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.
      Thank you 😊 please do not think that all Christians believe that Jesus is God. We do not. Yes we do believe that he is the Messiah. But we do not all believe that he is God. Truthfully I believe is from Satan to punish us all. The other day I realized that Satan doesn't care who you worship as long as you do not worship God. I hope you in some way answer back to this because I have a question I would like to ask you.

      God is not a man that He should lie neither the son of man that He should repent doesn’t mean God cannot be a man, where’s your understanding? It never said God cannot be flesh, It simply means God cannot tell lies or change His mind just like men do. How can you say that when Genesis ch 18 vs 1-2- God appeared to Abraham and Abraham saw 3 men.
      Hagar called the Angel of the Lord God
      The Angel of the Lord appeared to Jacob and said He’s the God of Bethel
      This is Judges ch 2:1- And an angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you.
      The Angel of the Lord took out Joshua’s iniquity and asked other angels to take out Joshua’s filthy clothes. Satan was there to accuse him.
      Saying that when one is Talking for God that person is called God is false. If you read Genesis ch 19:24- the Lord who was on earth rained down fire and brimstone from the Lord out of heaven. If you read GENESIS ch 31:11-13- the Angel of the Lord said He’s the God of Bethel then fast forward to Genesis ch 35:1- God said to Jacob to go to Bethel and make an altar unto God that appeared to him. Why isn’t God saying make an altar unto Me? If you read verse 7- it says God was revealed unto him and the word revealed there is plural in Hebrew. If you read Exodus ch 24:1- so God was saying come up unto the Lord. Have you really read Genesis ch 48:15-17? Jacob wanted to bless his grandchildren and he called the God of Abraham and Isaac then said the Angel whom hath redeemed him (Jacob) from all evil bless the lads(grandchildren). That word bless is singular in Hebrew language meaning that Angel and the God of Abraham and Isaac is One God.
      Also, saying God was referring to the heavenly host in Genesis ch 1:26 and ch 3:22 is false. Angels do not create only God create. In Job 33:4- The spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life. Here clearly showed the distinction and Who was the “Us” “Our” in Genesis ch 1:26 and ch 3:22. Verse 6: clearly saying Job was also formed out of the clay for those doubting the creation.

    I had a very hard time understanding what the pastor was saying. That to me is the problem with Christianity, the very core belief (trinity, god being man, etc.) is so complex that you need to get a PHD in theology just to be able to attempt to explain it. And even after all that, it's still hard to follow. The Jewish and Muslim conception is much more simple. There is one uncreated God that has no equal. That's it. It's that simple. At least foundationally.

      @holdenvinnedge9418 Před 7 lety +13

      It's not that it's so complicated that you need a PHD to understand, it's that it can't be proven, and so there is not a great organized viewpoint of it that is substantial. The view of the trinity is a view of opinion, and so it can't be pinpointed in the Bible. But I definitely agree, God is one and only one, and there is only one God. It isn't rocket science, but sometimes people make it to be rocket science, and try to add to the very foundation of God, and that is dangerous.

      @holdenvinnedge9418 Před 7 lety +10

      Thank you, I grew up Christian and after searching and seeking nothing but the truth, I found that the doctrine of the trinity cannot be true, as I found a connection to Israel through the Torah. To try to explain how the Christian Church perceives the idea of God cannot be fully explained, because their own views aren't conclusive, and I don't mean that to be demeaning toward Christians, either. The idea of God in the Christian Church switches back and forth between Jesus, and the Creator of the universe. They know God cannot simply be Jesus, and so they end up switching back and forth depending on the circumstance. Most people don't realize that they even see God that way, it's just that they have not been exposed to anything else, and so the idea that God, who is one and can only be one, is also three, is logical in a Christian's mind.

      It's a good idea to consider this Old Testament scriptures before you condemn Christians,
      The following prophecies concerning Jesus Christ were given in the Old Testament during the time frame of approximately 1700 BC - 400 BC. These prophecies were fulfilled hundreds of years later, during Jesus Christ's life on earth. Each of the prophecies listed below are followed in parentheses by the scripture references for both the prophecy and the fulfillment.
      1. He would be born of a Virgin (Isaiah 7:14 and Matthew 1:18).
      2. He would be of the tribe of Judah (Genesis 49:10 and Luke 3:23, 33).
      3. He would be of King David's seed (Jeremiah 23:5 and Luke 3:23, 31).
      4. He would be born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2 and Matthew 2:1).
      5. He would be a prophet (Deuteronomy 18:18-19 and Matthew 21:11).
      6. He would teach with parables (Psalms 78:2 and Matthew 13:34).
      7. He would be preceded by a messenger (Isaiah 40:3, Malachi 3:1, and Matthew 3:1-2).
      8. He would enter Jerusalem on a colt (Zechariah 9:9 and Luke 19:35-37).
      9. He would be betrayed by a friend (Psalms 41:9 and Matthew 26:47-50).
      10. He would be betrayed for 30 pieces of silver (Zechariah 11:12 and Matthew 26:15).
      11. He would be forsaken by His disciples (Zechariah 13:7 and Mark 14:50).
      12. The money would be thrown in the temple and used to buy the potter's field (Zechariah 11:13 and Matthew 27:5-7).
      13. He would be accused by false witnesses (Psalms 35:11 and Matthew 26:59-60).
      14. He would be silent before His accusers (Isaiah 53:7 and Matthew 27:12-14).
      15. He would be beaten by his enemies (Isaiah 50:6, 53:5, and Matthew 27:26).
      16. He would be spit upon and beaten (Isaiah 50:6 and Matthew 27:30).
      17. He would be struck in the head with a rod (Micah 5:1 and Matthew 27:30).
      18. He would be mocked (Psalms 22:7-8 and Matthew 27:29, 31).
      19. His hands and feet would be pierced (Psalms 22:16, Luke 23:33, and John 20:25).
      Note that this was predicted hundreds of years before crucifixion was invented.
      20. Men would gamble for His clothing (Psalms 22:18 and John 19:23-24).
      21. He would intercede in prayer for His transgressors (Isaiah 53:12 and Luke 23:34).
      22. He would suffer thirst (Psalms 22:15 and John 19:28).
      23. He would be offered gall and water (Psalms 69:21 and Matthew 27:34).
      24. He would cry, "My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me!" (Psalms 22:1 and Matthew 27:46).
      25. He would be cut down in His prime (Psalms 89:45 and 102:23-24).
      26. None of His bones would be broken (Exodus 12:46, Psalms 34:20, and John 19:32-33).
      27. They would look upon Him whom they had pierced (Zechariah 12:10 and John 19:34).
      28. He would be executed with thieves (Isaiah 53:12 and Matthew 27:38).

      @@paulhumber: You need to realize, and accept, that the "New Testament" is NOT scripture that was given to mankind by God, and it blasphemously, arrogantly and self-righteously preaches AGAINST what God said to us at Mt. Sinai. God never said ONE word of the utter lies in the false, pagan, anti-God, anti-Jewish, hate-filled, replacement theology work of fiction "New Testament". NOWHERE do the Hebrew scriptures tell us to expect a SECOND set of scriptures (i.e. NT) after Mt. Sinai. And the "Old Testament" is only a twisted, mistranslated, taken out of context, bastardized VERSION of what God actually said to us, because the "blind guides" of Christianity REFUSED to learn the original Hebrew that God gave to us at Mt. Sinai. PLEASE take this into consideration, and actually LISTEN to what Rabbi Singer said to you in the video! He is telling us God's ACTUAL Truth, from the Hebrew scriptures, given to us at Mt. Sinai.
      PLEASE tell us all, using the Hebrew scriptures (NOT the "OT"!) where exactly God ever told us:
      - that He is made up of THREE PARTS;
      - that He turned Himself into a man (if God didn't tell us that He did something, He DIDN'T do it!);
      - that the Jewish Messiah would 'die on a cross' like a CRIMINAL, for our sins;
      - to believe in someone named "Jesus" who can "save" us from our sins;
      - that the Jewish Messiah's name is "Jesus";
      - that He requires HUMAN BLOOD (a purely pagan ritual that God ABHORS!) as atonement for our sins;
      - that He sends us to 'eternal hellfire' if we don't believe in someone named "Jesus";
      - that "Satan" is an evil being who plans to overthrow God and take His throne for himself.
      PLEASE purchase Rabbi Singer's 3-vol. set of books "Let's Get Biblical - Why Doesn't Judaism Accept the Christian Messiah?", which will answer any questions you may have on this subject. These books show us the VAST differences between Judaism and Christianity, and point out the multitude of ways in which Christianity raped the original Hebrew scriptures given to us by God at Mt. Sinai.
      PLEASE do some honest research on how Christianity started, and you WILL discover, as thousands of us have, that it absolutely DID NOT come from God! I was a born-again, baptized, Evangelical Baptist Christian for 40+ years, until I ALLOWED God to open my eyes to His Truth. I hope you will decide to do the same, and leave the pagan falsehoods behind. Only when you truly desire to know God's Truth, and ALLOW Him to show you that Truth, will He open your eyes to it - because He forces Himself on nobody. Until then, you will be trapped in the false, pagan religion you are now a part of.
      Christianity has been outright LYING to us for thousands of years, and is the biggest hoax ever perpetrated on mankind. PLEASE learn from the rabbis as commanded by God in Deut. 17:8-11 (in the absence of the Temple, the rabbis serve as our Judges and Priests).

Oh brother, If you read the God given scriptures by your own, asking God to reveal scriptures to you, also to cultivate a personal relationship with God, you will get it Faster, but if you just sit there and use another brain of another person to understand it, you will never grow a personal relationship with the Father, one thing is reading and knowing things about a person, and another thing is knowing the Person and talking with them.

      The Messiah must be from the Tribe of Judah and a Descendant of King David AND King Solomon
      The Messiah must be a member of the tribe of Judah (Genesis 49:10) and a direct descendant of King David & King Solomon (2 Samuel 7:12-14; 1 Chronicles 22:9-10). Genealogy in the Bible is only passed down from father to son (Numbers 1:1-18).
      There is no evidence that Jesus really had this pedigree, and the Christian Bible actually claims that he did not have a “birth-father” from the tribe of Judah descending from King David and King Solomon (Matt. 1:18-20).
      Ingathering of the Jewish Exiles
      When the Messiah is reigning as King of Israel, the Jews will be ingathered from their exile and will return to Israel, their homeland (Deut. 30:3; Isaiah 11:11-12; Jeremiah 30:3, 32:37; Ezekiel 11:17, 36:24).
      This has clearly not yet happened and we still await its fulfillment.
      Rebuilding of the Holy Temple
      The Temple in Jerusalem will be rebuilt (Isaiah 2:2-3, 56:6-7, 60:7, 66:20; Ezekiel 37:26-27; Malachi 3:4; Zech. 14:20-21).
      The Temple was still standing in Jesus’ day. It was destroyed 38 years after Jesus’ crucifixion and it has not yet been rebuilt.
      Worldwide Reign of Peace
      There will be universal disarmament and worldwide peace with a complete end to war (Micah 4:1-4; Hoseah 2:20; Isaiah 2:1-4, 60:18).
      Wars have increased dramatically in the world since the start of Christianity.
      Observance of the Torah Embraced by All Jews
      The Messiah will reign as King at a time when all the Jewish people will observe G-d’s commandments (Ezekiel 37:24; Deut. 30:8,10; Jeremiah 31:32; Ezekiel 11:19-20, 36:26-27).
      Jesus never ruled as King, nor have all Jews embraced the commandments of G-d’s Torah.
      Universal Knowledge of G-d
      The Messiah will rule at a time when all the people of the world will come to acknowledge and serve the one true G-d (Zechariah 3:9, 8:23,14:9,16; Isaiah 45:23, 66:23; Jeremiah 31:33; Ezekiel 38:23; Psalm 86:9; Zeph. 3:9).
      This, as well, has not yet taken place and we await its fulfillment.
      A Biblical Portrait of the Messiah
      All of these criteria for the Messiah are found in numerous places in the Jewish Bible. One foundational example is in the book of Ezekiel, Chapter 37:24-28:
      “24 And My servant David will be king over them, and they will all have one shepherd, and they will walk in My ordinances, and keep My statutes, and observe them
      25 and they shall live on the land that I gave to Jacob My servant, in which your fathers have lived; and they shall live there, they, and their children, and their children’s children for ever; and My servant David will be their prince for ever.
      26 Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it will be an everlasting covenant, which I will give them; and I will multiply them, and will set My sanctuary in their midst forever
      27 and My tabernacle shall be with them, and I will be their God and they will be My people.
      28 And the nations will know that I am the Lord who sanctifies Israel, when My sanctuary is in their midst forever.”
      Anyone can claim to be the Messiah or a group of people can claim that someone is the Messiah. However, if that person fails to fulfill all the criteria found in the Jewish Bible, he cannot be the Messiah.
      According to the Christian scriptures, Jesus seems to have understood this. As he was being crucified by the Romans, he cried out “My G-d, my G-d, why have You forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:46).

      (Now the name Jesus is Yeshua in hebrew means ‘Salvation’ in Hebrew. The name Yehoshua/Yeshua/Jesus conveys the idea that God (YHVH) delivers or savior .
      YHVH, pronounced Yaweh, was first used in the Bible in Exodus 3:14 as the name of God when God spoke to Moses from the burning bush. YHVH translates as “I AM THAT I AM” or “I AM WHO I AM”.
      A list of statements by Yeshua/Jesus using the phrase “I am” follows:
      John 6:51:”I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever;”
      John 8:23: And He said to them, “You are from beneath; I AM from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world.
      John 8:12: Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I AM the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
      John 8:58 Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”
      John 10:9: “I AM the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.”
      John 10:11: “I AM the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.
      John 10:36: “do you say of Him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, ‘You are blaspheming,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God’?
      John 11:25: Jesus said to her, “I AM the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.
      John 14:6: Jesus said to him, “I AM the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
      John 15:1: “I AM the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.
      John 19:2: Therefore the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate, “Do not write, ‘The King of the Jews,’ but, ‘He said, “I AM the King of the Jews.”‘”
      Paul asked
      Acts 9:5: And he said, “Who are You, Lord?” And the Lord said, “I AM Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads.”
      Jesus Christ in the NT spoke as God for he is God the I Am.
      John 8
      24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
      Yeshua is saying he is the same I AM that Moses met at the burning bush. And b/c he said this he was crucified.
      Exodus 3
      14 And God said unto Moses, I Am That I Am: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me unto you.

      2) Now if you find my statement of truth deleted you will know why,for the battle is real truth vs lies and men love the lies more than the truth. What friend does the Jewish nation have in this world but Christians who are spiritual Jews of the promise?
      Isaiah 45:23-24: "I have sworn by Myself, The word has gone forth from My mouth in righteousness And will not turn back, That to Me every knee will bow, every tongue will swear allegiance. They will say of Me, 'Only in the Lord are righteousness and strength.' Men will come to Him, And" all who were angry at Him shall be put to shame.
      Philippians 2:9-11: "Therefore also God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those who are in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
      Therefore Jehovah is applied to both the Father and the Son. Further, Isaiah 45:23-24 is another example of the highest form of joint worship.
      Isaiah 45
      21 Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the Lord? and there is....no God.. else beside me; a just..... God.... and..... a Saviour.....; there is none beside me.
      22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.
      23 I have sworn by myself,..... the word.... is gone out of... my mouth ..in righteousness, and shall not return,
      That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.
      24 Surely, shall one say, in the Lord have I righteousness and strength: even to him shall men come; and all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed.
      Philippians 2
      5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
      (This mind points to the Holy Spirit that dwells in Christ dwells in the Christian born again, the same Holy Spirit that dwell in David and the saints and prophets of the Old testament who has given us the Bible the word of God.)
      6 Who, being in... the form of God, ....thought it not robbery ....to be equal with God:...
      7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
      8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
      9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
      10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
      11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
      Psalm 33
      4 For the word of the Lord is right; and all his works are done in truth.
      5 He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.
      6 By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
      John 1
      1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
      2 The same was in the beginning with God.
      3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
      Daniel 3
      25 He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.
      Daniel 12:3
      And they that are wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
      Genesis 22
      16 And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:
      17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy ...seed... as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy... seed... shall possess the gate of his enemies;
      18 And in thy ....seed.....shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.
      Galatians 3
      16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to ....thy seed,... which is Christ.
      17 And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.
      18 For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.
      24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
      25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
      26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
      27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
      28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
      29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
      Romans 2
      28 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
      29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
      JC is God and the triune God is revealed from OT to NT.
      John 3
      3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
      14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
      15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
      16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
      17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
      18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
      19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
      20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
      21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
      ( Only those born of the HS are as stars in heaven that will be with God in heaven as we have God by the HS indwelling in the believers . Who are the blessing to the nations for it is God in the man that does all the good work.
      I am a born again Christian a spiritual Jew of the promise to father Abraham. And I am a Gentile witnessing to the world who God the Lord of the Jews is to the world. When you look at world history it is the Christians who have made known to the world who the Lord is and his judgments, not the Jews of birth, tradition or religion.
      So if JC is not the promise seed of father Abraham who was? Also what group of Jews could surpass what Christians have done to make known the judgments of God to the world? I know salvation is of the Jews . And who other than the spiritual Jew has made known who God is to the world as savior?
      We all must believe,trust have faith in JC alone, as God and a man born of a virgin,died ,on a cross buried and rose again,fulfilling the prophecies of Christ . And add no works of your own,if you are to be certain you are saved ,you must trust in what Christ says and did . If not you may remain lost in your sins, for we are saved by grace and our faith not by our works of any laws.We are to trust in the only savior of men who is God.

      Jesus failed to fulfill ANY of the messianic prophecies. The NT is a pagan book of fairly tales and anti-Semitic garbage. Anything that contradicts the Hebrew bible, like the NT, the Koran or the Book of Mormon, is obviously not from G-d. You can't prove anything by quoting the NT. No one even noticed Jesus during his alleged lifetime, but according to the NT he was a violent hateful man who committed many serious sins, and told other Jews to sin also. We are commanded NOT to follow such people (Deut. 13:1-12), even if they produce a miracle. In worshipping a man, your failed dead messiah, as if he were G-d, you are committing idolatry. Jesus accomplished nothing in the real world. He is a god and king only in the minds of delusional xians.
      Your quotes from the Tanach actually support the Jewish positions. When read in context, they clearly don't mean what the xians claim. For example, Isaiah clearly identifies Israel as the servant several times, and Jeremiah is another verse stating that everyone will come to the Jews for the truth in the messianic age. And yes, we Jews are the real Jews. G-d promised us many times that His covenant with us is eternal. You xians are completely delusional to think otherwise. One doesn't need to be a Jew in order to know G-d, or to have a place in the world to come. But being an idol worshipper is a good way to separate yourself from Him, and trying to lead Jews in to your idol worship is a very serious sin.

His knowledge of both the old and the new testament is incredible. He seems to know every verse and every word and is able to recall without hesitation any verse or word. His passion is compelling. I would like to admit that there are parts of the new testament that I find rather nice even beautiful. I do not choose to be a believer. I choose to believe in a grander less interpreted concept of God as the all that is. Without naming names or having concepts. I choose to feel God in the centre of my heart as a greater whole of which I am a small part now and forever.

      @Abraham Mani The Messiah must be from the Tribe of Judah and a Descendant of King David AND King Solomon

      @Abraham Mani dude, really?
      Isaiah is known for the method by which he presents many of his messages through the use of prophetic names (Isaiah 7:3, 14; 8:3). In the verse under study, the prophet expounds his message by formulating a prophetic name for Hezekiah. The words of this name form a sentence expressive of God's greatness, which will become manifest in the benefits to be bestowed upon the future king in his lifetime. Thus, the name, though borne by the king, serves, in reality, as a testimonial to God. Hezekiah is called "a wonderful counselor" because this name is a sign, which foretells God's design for him.
      The Lord of hosts has sworn, saying: "As I have thought, so shall it be, and as I have purposed, so shall it stand, that I will break Asshur in My land, and upon My mountains trample him under foot; then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulder." This is the purpose that is purposed upon the whole earth; and this is the hand that is stretched out upon all the nations. For the Lord of hosts has purposed, and who will annul it? And His hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back? (Isaiah 14:24-27)
      Be not afraid of the words that you have heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed Me. Behold, I will put a spirit in him, and he shall hear a rumor, and shall return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land. (Isaiah 37:6-7)
      Hezekiah is called "the mighty God" because this name is a sign that foretells God's defense of Jerusalem through the miraculous sudden mass death of Sennacherib's army.
      Therefore thus says the Lord concerning the king of Assyria: He shall not come to this city, nor shoot an arrow there, neither shall he come before it with shield, nor cast a mound against it. By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and he shall not come to this city, says the Lord. For I will defend this city to save it, for My own sake, and for My servant David's sake. (Isaiah 37:33-35)
      Hezekiah is called "the everlasting Father" because this name is a sign, which foretells that God will add years to his life. "Go, and say to Hezekiah: Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; behold, I will add to your days fifteen years" (Isaiah 38:5). Hezekiah is called "the ruler of peace" because this name is a sign, which foretells that God would be merciful to him. Punishment for lack of faith in the Almighty will be deferred and peace granted during the last years of his rule. "Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah: 'Good is the word of the Lord which you have spoken.' He said moreover: 'If but there shall be peace and security in my days'" (Isaiah 39:8). The fulfillment of the above-stated declarations is foretold in Isaiah 9:6, when, after the Assyrian defeat, Hezekiah's glory increased and peace reigned for the rest of his life (2 Chronicles 32:23). Archaeologists have found that there was a sudden expansion of Judean settlements in the years following the fall of the northern kingdom. This indicates that many refugees fled south, thus giving added significance to the statement "that the government may be increased." Hezekiah's kingdom is declared to be forever, for through his efforts to cleanse the Temple ritual of idolatry, even though apostasy followed under his son Menasseh, the Davidic dynasty was once more confirmed as the only true kingly rule that God would accept over his people "from henceforth and forever." The greatness of Hezekiah lies in his setting the stage for Israel's future. Hezekiah was a true reformer. He cleansed religious worship of foreign influence, purged the palace and the Temple of images and pagan altars, and reestablished pure monotheistic religion. In the long run Hezekiah's achievements would outlive him, leaving an everlasting, indelible impact on the history of his people. Thus, God, through Isaiah, bestows upon Hezekiah this name which honors the king by proclaiming the great things God will do for him, and, through him, for the people of Israel.

      @Abraham Mani Christian theologians argue that the phrases "mighty God" and "everlasting Father" cannot be incorporated as part of a man's name. Thus, they contend that Isaiah teaches that the Messiah has to be not only a man, but God as well. That this entire reasoning is incorrect may be seen from the name Elihu, "My God is He," which refers to an ordinary human being (Job 32:1, 1 Samuel 1:l, 1 Chronicles 12:21, 26:7, 27:18). A similar Christian misunderstanding of Scripture may be seen in their claims revolving around the name Immanuel, "God is with us." The simple fact is that it is quite common in the Bible for human beings to be given names that have the purpose of declaring or reflecting a particular attribute of God, e.g., Eliab, Eliada, Elzaphan, Eliakim, Elisha, Eleazar, Tavel, Gedaliah.
      The fact remains that Jesus did not literally or figuratively fulfill any of Isaiah's words. A wonderful counselor does not advise his followers that if they have faith they can be agents of destruction (Matthew 21:19-21; Mark 11:14, 20-23). A mighty God does not take orders from anyone (Luke2:51, Hebrews 5:8), for no one is greater than he is (Matthew 12:31-32; John 5:30, 14:28). Moreover, he does not ask or need to be saved by anyone (Matthew 26:39, Luke 22:42), for he cannot die by any means (Matthew 27:50, Mark 15:37, Luke 23:46, John 19:30). He who is called the Son of God the Father (John 1:18, 3:16) cannot himself be called everlasting Father. One cannot play simultaneously the role of the son and the Father; it is an obvious self-contradiction. He who advocates family strife (Matthew 10:34-35, Luke 12:49-53) and killing enemies (Luke 19:27) cannot be called a ruler of peace.

      +Ulf Malmström So, clearly the Suffering Servant cannot be Israel in 53 since they cannot die for sins. There are over 200 prophecies of Jesus in the Hebrew bible , the fact that you don't believe wont change or harm the Truth. Your not the first skeptic that ever lived and certainly wont be the last. He was despised and rejected (verse 3)not just by the Jews but by all peoples. He is the "Narrow Gate" that leads to Eternal Life , most will bypass the "Narrow Gate" and go through the "Wide Gate" that leads to everlasting destruction as taught by the bible.

      Three things are important to rightly understand to interpet a Biblical text.
      1. The kontext.
      2. The kontext.
      3. The kontext.
      * I cannot find one singel prophecy of all the supposed 200 prophecys of Jesus you talk about. Strange? But I can find some really good and real ones talking about the true messianic age and the things that is going to happen on the earth in the future.
      1. World peace.
      2. Universal knowledge of the Lord.
      3. Resurrection of all the dead.
      4. Ingathering of all the Jewish people.
      5. Upbuilding of the third Temple.

    • @jtmiller9291
      @jtmiller9291 Před 5 lety +4

      @NoOtherName, Isaiah clearly states several times that the suffering servant IS Israel! And the narrator is gentile kings of nations (52:15), not Jews. Throughout history, we Jews have been persecuted by the gentiles (crusades, inquisition, pogroms, holocaust, etc). We suffer FROM (not for) their sins (53:5). It has nothing to do with dying for sins. The real messiah won't be a sacrifice to atone for our sins. That idea is from your pagan NT, not the Hebrew bible. G-d forgives us when we repent; we don't need the messiah for that. G-d is not a man, and the real messiah will be man, who will rule as King of Israel on David's throne in the messianic age. In any case, the passage does not describe Jesus. For example, he did not have children or a long life. According to the NT, he was a violent deceitful man who committed many serious sins. In the messianic age, all Jews will return to Torah observance (e.g. - Ezekial 37:24, Zephaniah 3:12-13 , Jeremiah 50:20), and all gentiles will recognize that the G-d of Israel is the one true G-d. Isaiah 53 is just one of many passages that describe how shocked you gentiles will be in the messianic age, when you realize that we Jews were right all along.

      But in Ezekiel 46 16:17, hes not talking about the prince's Family! WTF. But in Isiah 53, it's talking about the murder of the Messiah! And guess who did that, His own people,the people who waited for their Messiah to come!
      1 Who has believed our message
      and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?
      2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
      and like a root out of dry ground.
      He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
      nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.
      3 He was despised and rejected by mankind,
      a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.
      Like one from whom people hide their faces
      he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.
      4 Surely he took up our pain
      and bore our suffering,
      yet we considered him punished by God,
      stricken by him, and afflicted.
      5 But he was pierced for our transgressions,
      he was crushed for our iniquities;
      the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
      and by his wounds we are healed.
      6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
      each of us has turned to our own way;
      and the Lord has laid on him
      the iniquity of us all.
      7 He was oppressed and afflicted,
      yet he did not open his mouth;
      he was led like a lamb to the slaughter,
      and as a sheep before its shearers is silent,
      so he did not open his mouth.
      8 By oppression[a] and judgment he was taken away.
      Yet who of his generation protested?
      For he was cut off from the land of the living;
      for the transgression of my people he was punished.[b]
      9 He was assigned a grave with the wicked,
      and with the rich in his death,
      though he had done no violence,
      nor was any deceit in his mouth.
      10 Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer,
      and though the Lord makes[c] his life an offering for sin,
      he will see his offspring and prolong his days,
      and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand.
      11 After he has suffered,
      he will see the light of life[d] and be satisfied[e];
      by his knowledge[f] my righteous servant will justify many,
      and he will bear their iniquities.
      12 Therefore I will give him a portion among the great,[g]
      and he will divide the spoils with the strong,[h]
      because he poured out his life unto death,
      and was numbered with the transgressors.
      For he bore the sin of many,
      and made intercession for the transgressors.

I would, however, have appreciated the opportunity for Pastor Paul to have had a final say at some points, and not just Rabbi Singer. If one is to control the spin, it's the last man speaking who can. The real test is that, when seeming to "lose" the debate, deep down you knowing you have the real thing. Paul's got it. We may be weak (a learner) or strong (a teacher) in what we know, but we know.

      Rabbi Singer has participated in debates hosted by Christians.
      Also, if the pastor had anticipated the counterpoints then he could have headed them off.
      Finally, it does make sense to order it this way, since Judaism was the established truth when Christianity was invented, so the burden of proof is on it. Therefore the one positing some new idea should go first to introduce it.

They will forever be in a hamster wheel, enjoying the sound of highfalutin academic concepts and theories, constantly parroting, echoing each other, and nothing more.
      Rabbi Singer has a holy, meaningful, noble, great, high purpose here. He's trying to get rid of the veil from the eyes of Jesus' blind witnesses and bring them back to the one true G-d, Hashem!

      That’s because Rabbi Singer turns up the emotional temperature when he is on shaky grounds. This is one of his tactics. He also tries to undermine the serious points made by his opponent by making stupid jokes, because he knows that the audience is trying to process the arguments. But he only wants them to think about his points. Again, he always makes a point of saying what great friend he is with his opponent and how he respects them, then goes onto near ad hominem attack’s. These sophomorics take away from the seriousness of his arguments. Not that it matters to those who have already made up their minds.

      @Shahid Imran Hussain problem is that the only reason people think of jesus as anything is because of the paul who made jesus out to be an idol. If it was just a natural continuation of his disciples (apostles) they would at most say that he was a holy human being who was the messiah and will rise again. This idolising of jesus is a roman idea. In truth jesus was probably just a cult leader, who died. end of story for the balanced objective observer.

      Bobbel888 I would love to see that debate since God would finally have to explain why he provided so many scriptural proofs that Isaiah 53 cannot be about Jesus. God would also have to explain why he neglected to inspire his prophets to write that the messiah would only fulfill SOME of the messianic requirements the first time around, but that he'd come back later to finish the job. That's one of the most important things god should have told the Jews to help them recognize that Jesus is the messiah and he didn't do it which means that this god is either an idiot or he didn't choose Jesus as the messiah or he doesn't exist. Those are the three options. I would also love to see God try and explain why it is that 99% of the prophecies abut Jesus are based on esoteric, midrashic interpretations of the hebrew scriptures that have no evidential value. Why is that the best God could do?
