Wow have this game changed over the years. I first played it back in Dec 2005 on my return from a deployment to Iraq. Had me a custom built Alien Ware desktop just to play this game.
That's a good break down to how Accomplice and Collab work. I never thought of that. Excited how these THF changes will affect the META of tanking etc

I would LOVE to see a Thief guide from you. I can't find anything that I can trust that might fit with the Horizon changes and I am a bit lost xD. but I want to play it and use Ninja as a sub.

Used Accomplice and Collab last night to save a WHM who had to bene. Successfully planted the hate onto the PLD and the mob swapped back. Loving the changes.

I always felt Mug should just replace Steal and combined both. IE turn Mug into a Trait that modifies Steal
As an all time thf player from years in to retail, this spoke to me lol thf was always looked at a certain way and the meta only wanted it for specific reasons and not the ones us players of thf would want. Yes big damage and yes fast and accurate, but we were only invited if we had /nin in low levels and higher levels no one wanted you unless for hate control in some way. anyways love the video and great discussion hopefully more changes like this happen to maybe shake up the mindset of a meta.
What's really getting me excited is that 18 slot THF occupies /anyway/ is now a place where you can incredibly productive/useful. Whether you're relegated to the tank pt, or getting melee buffs.
Can THFs not solo better than most melee? Are they not always needed for the TH ability in end game content? If they bring THF more in line with other dps, why else would you bring other dps? IDK Horizon so IDK what's different
Horizon -isn't- bringing THF dmg up. They added hate management utility so we're no longer just there for TH.

for real question, no shade. I think Horizons take is pretty neat, just not sure what the goal they have with thf is. Several lvl brackets they was able to put out some good numbers and outside of a bard make great pullers

I was a RDM main and then branched off to BRD then WAR and then THF.

How is the horizon XI? I have MANY fond memories playing XI up until the 2nd installment to Abyssea is when I finally quit I really wished they had updated the graphics but seeing your videos and I can see it seems to have aged particularly well. If they just tweak a little bit into modernized tech thatd be swell af Id return in a heartbeat for sure.
What you’re seeing is the game with my favorite visual mod called “Ashenbubs HD” which changes the game’s textures.
I’ll say this, Horizon XI includes a bunch of great (modern) QoL in the launcher. (Minimap for example)
This Collaborator change is really how it should've been done in retail. They could make that change in retail tomorrow and it'd be a massive improvement.
I mained THF in retail when I played last year, and I don't think I ever used that JA.

Thf has always been pretty broken for me. It was always my strongest and most comfortable job. As far as DD players went on Ragnarok for the 12 years I played I was easily among the top 30 or so DD players using Thf. Specifically in the 2007-2009 era. There were maybe 4-5 people on the server that could keep up with me. Once I got Rudra's and my Twashtar I didn't even have to try. But with the way the choose to progress the DD jobs in the game, every one is hit cap damage pretty easily. The wars we used to have for merit parties and zergs kinda went to the way side once aby came about. Glad to see Thf getting some love.
THF def had a high point there. It's such a swingy job throughout the years.

glad to hear that. I just finally started a character today. I hope they don't make the Collibri EXP camps in ToAU as overpowered as they have been on other servers. very annoying when people level 55-75 on one mob.

I had done every single thing in the game except V25 Odyssey and all that was left was that and Sortie daily for 6 months.
I still recommend retail to all sorts of people, but I've made so many friends on Horizon and really enjoying my time.

Thf has always fallen off in exp parties. If you wanted to take it as your main / in to end game content you had to work so hard to earn that spot. You needed a seperate job to merit with unless you have a static, you had to grind out exp and solo with your flag up for days. You had to earn that spot to be able to be a thf main that can solo like a monster and have th4 on your main job. Not everyone is a streamer and chocobo digger, you would benefit more from thf if you have to grind out mobs and sit with your flag up for days like the rest of us.
Thf now gives thier pt 12.5% permanent damage buff with guaranteed acid bolts every 1minute. That's a little much and counter to what thf is/was in era. Even with max marksman you should struggle to proc an acid bolt on an IT mob. It's a nice bonus, it's not supposed to be a permanent debuff.
I mean.. my THF levelling journey is all documented here. My close friends almost had two 75's before I finished THF. It was not a walk in the park.
I do not like this and it makes killing certain monsters much easier. If I wanted easy mode ffxi I wouldnt be trying classic. Being able to put enmity onto a tank or shed it from the top dps can make it so kills will go much faster when geared properly. Very suspicious of this update. Does bringing a blm and letting it go ham without worrying about enmity become broken? Stay tuned.
the issue I've always had on private servers is not normalizing accuracy between 1h and 2h, and they are doing it again here. if they want to lower acc across the board to add a bit of challenge back I'm fine with that but there is ZERO reason 2h should have more acc than 1h, if they want to give a slight att advantage to 2h I could understand that but there is no reason for a difference in accuracy.
I'm more on the other side of this. 2H is hurt much more by missing because of the longer delay.
Totally disagree. When a 1h weapon hits 3 times in a 2 handers 2 times (or less with some 2h weapons) then a miss is genuinely debilitating. Considering ffxi is not wow where you can easily just buy all gear with +accuracy, it's more specific in ffxi. 2 handers have a higher base accuracy so the overall miss rate / time spent attacking is similar with 1 handed counterparts.
Think less as number of swings but rather time spent attacking.
This change sounds VERY lame because what this does is allow THF to SPAM attacks with no care about hate control so it allows thf to play sloppy and careless.
but THF already has TA on a 1min cd. How does the Collaborator change enable spamming? it's on a 5min cd. You gonna be careless every 5 mins? Do you consider DRG to play sloppy and careless because they have Super Jump?
Horizon is a garbage server. Just see how they ruined Sam rdm how they ruined fishing how they ruined ninja. Eden is Def better

@@dragumkirisute1998 the only problem I really have with this game is how long it takes to get a party going then if somebody dies that person will want to leave then other people start leaving in the party falls apart before ever got started. That kind of stuff drives me absolutely insane and I do not have time to be playing games like that. I got my buddy playing the other day and we were in a party in the dunes and he was about to quit cuz we were sitting there for probably 20 minutes waiting for somebody to get back and we just don't have that kind of time to sit around anymore. Could have played probably one or two matches of helldivers in the time it took these clowns to show up and start the party

I quit playing Horizon because 90% of the playerbase was extremely toxic tryhards and the endgame was literal suffering. I wasn't enjoying my favorite game anymore. That's impressive. Like what's the point of playing an MMO where everyone you meet is an insufferable cunt?
