#26: Find a good bard. Befriend them. Spoil them with gifts now for it shall be returned tenfold in the future when you become inseparable Party members. Get them Minuet IV and V then ask them to cast those songs on you when leveling at low levels and drop party. You now can solo slap all your subjobs to sub level with ease. That is just the beginning of your magical friendship... at least til the songs wear.

I've been really enjoying the server on a casual basis. Taking my time, making sure I am geared up and not over stressing about maxing my character as fast as I can. Been really fun!

Roki here. I play with controller and I use all my macros with or and it allows me to CANCEL anything so I don't accidentally use Sneak Attack or Provoke something, etc. I always hated doing that back in the PS2 days.
yup certain macros I love this for, such as Sleep Bolts. also good for cures and stuff

Correction on rental rooms - I started in Bastok, and was able to run right into and use the San d'Oria and Jeuno MH without speaking to NPC
Maybe the dummied out dialogue is still there like with other things, but it isn't required
Great tips! Love the change to Leaping/Bounding boots, and shield tanking on WAR is noticeable. Nice to have another seemingly viable tank option.

It's worth noting that the Chariot Band actually lasts for 4 hours, even though it says 2 hours on the ring. Also, Deeps is a plugin, not an addon, so it should go into that folder instead.
yeah there's some text on screen that says "Deeps is a plugin" but I only realized after recording. Also thanks about the Chariot, taht seemed low
I use an Xbox controller with xinput and noticed every time I press B (cancel) the camera locks in place. If I hold B then it stays locked. is there any way to fix this?
Yup! Config > Misc 2 > Keyboard Size > Compact 1
Sounds crazy, but this is the fix for your problem.

What's where's the link to the information for creating a text file that boots up certain settings like the "fps 1".. Also I want to get my draw distance to auto load instead of having to do it every time I boot.

What are player's recommendations for best alternatives for FF11 private servers? Unfortunately my friends and I's HorizonXI adventure ended before it even began. Our LAN-party style of play at each other's places is way too complicated for their current IP Exception system to handle.
Does anyone know how to or if there's a video out there showing how to install a texture pack on horizon XI?
It comes with AshenbubsHD pack pre installed, the other option is XIpivot. idk if Ashita has that, you may have to use Windower (which is it's own setup process)

it's a program called REwasd. There are other options out there too iirc.
Mob not losing tp seems to be confirmed, tested it a chunk the other day and they consistently use another tp move after stun ends

My reservations is I am a very slow player. I fear jumping into a progression server that I am already starting behind and playing slower then other players that by time I do hit 75, next xpac may be close to coming out.
Where would you say most of the server community currently at ? Is it mostly 75 farming endgame ? Or is there still lot of new players coming in ?
LOTS of players in all level ranges! It’s a very popular server and never too late to jump in!
One problem I’m having with the minimap addon is I can’t make it bigger. I’m playing on a 4k tv and the default is tiny. I went into the config under general and tried to adjust the scale but anytime I alter the x scale the map disappears from my screen.
that is very strange. scale adjusts just fine for me. you sure you don't need to just adjust your x/y position after that?
@@CallMekwech thanks for the reply. I got it figured out but not sure what was causing the issue. Basically had to start with adjusting the y value and move it all the way to the left of my screen before adjusting the x value. Adjusting the x value would then only move it back right so I just kept repeating this process till I got it to a workable size.

Only problem i have with Ashita is somehow I disabled shift click and have no clue how to get it back. Can't move my minimap or timers anymore
you might have disabled your mouse hook, I think the option is in the Horizon launcher
What's the deal with Outpost Warping? I've delivered supplies to multiple zones, but I can't warp to any of them.
are you level 20?
I think they posted on discord about a glitch with blacklisting and something else. It has a link to the fix so you can outpost warp if the appropriate level.
Hoping they flip flop rare/ex big ticket items from BCNMs back to NMs.
From Day 1 I found it weird how EVERYONE in their mother went ALL in on War + GAXE Lv1. Like yes you start off with onion gaxe but... Axe + Shield is what you are suppose to use on WAR, Raging Axe > Shield Break until you get Sturmwind and only then is gaxe able to compete with Axe like how is everyone coping with that long ass delay lmao. On top of that everyone rushed to get /nin but no War/Nin dual axe with Rampage spam? Even with the /nin nerf. Just like the dagger buffs, it's hard pressed for me to believe that your dagger and wasp sting alone will out dps 1h sword or h2h until Viper (RIP viper in horizon apparently lul) or Dancing Edge/Shark Bite. It all seemed weird to me, was hoping 1.1 patch would fix or clear up a lot of things but it seemed like mostly Magic changes? meh

People like to call FFXI "niche" and "obscure" but this is a mainline Final Fantasy entry and walked so FFXIV could run years later. It's not "too bad" or a "shame" that people play this incredible game.
the shame is how watered down and boring they made 14 when they had an amazing blueprint to go on. 14 is just a modern cash shop mmo, total trash for nomies. XI is a game that takes actual dedication and knowledge.
I liked XI more, XIV is too rigid and streamlined. Reminds me of a worse version of ESO but without the "any class any role" part

They don't have a setting for the original music do they?
There's a toggle on the launcher to disable the custom music. (Gear icon, Horizon Xi Music toggle)
@@CallMekwech Thank you, i know they ment well, but that music was killing me. It made half the game for me. Nobu Uematsus music is by far some of my favorite.

Thinking of giving this a go since I love old-school MMORPGs, and my laptop gets a bit hot playing FFXIV, but I am wondering...how safe is this server? I take online safety pretty seriously and don't wanna get any viruses or get hacked.
I've personally not heard of any privacy concerns and we have something like 6k active players(2500 concurrent primetime). Of course you would want to use a VPN if that's something that worries you. But like anything on the internet you'll want to use your own discretion.
Emperor band i think gives best XP per conquest points.. also the only one that cost less to recharge than to rebuy

Hello! The main thing I did during 2003-Wings of the Goddess era (aside from park in Jeuno) was run around Valkurn / Qufim / Kazam areas randomly buffing, raising and power leveling groups without them even asking. I noticed they implemented what I consider to be anti-community changes whereby groups get less experience if you randomly heal them and that it could now be considered griefing; have they said that they will allow this in the future once everyone has their main jobs leveled and are working on alts? It's how I met most of my friends and my LS. A lot of people even helped me with quests due to these random encounters and gave me their old items as opposed to selling them. I just don't see myself getting the nostalgia feeling without being able to help people in this way.
So the power level change is ~if you pull hate as PL~ in order to prevent the PL from tanking the mob for the group. In which case their exp drops to 0, and that can be used to grief.
You're welcome to toss a cure2 etc.

Leaping Boots not coming from the BCNM is going to make it harder to get Winged Boots +1.

It comes from BCNM and Lizzy perfectly even. The Winged Boots+1 do nothing more for you stat wise.

Rare/Ex should have been programmed to drop from the NMs and the money drops from the BCNMs like the original Square Enix devs had figured out. They did this to save the economy from insane gil farming happening to pay for constantly raising god item prices.....HorizonXI did it backwards and trust me it shows....the server is only 1 month old now and currently we see items like Leaping Boots 500K+ Monster Signia 400K+ Mary's Horn 150K+ Emperor Hairpin 500K+ ......It is an absolute madhouse at the NM camps and the server is already full of hundreds of gil bot players that nonstop farm gil daily in order to pay for these insane prices.....if you come to HorizonXI, prepare to pay higher prices than you have ever seen on any FF11 server.
All that stuff was sold in game back in old ffxi days…. They weren’t always rare/ex… just like they aren’t now in horizon
@@B3tox92 HorizonXI has it backwards. The sellable item is supposed to come from BCNMs to help deal with insane overpricing and inflated gil farming to pay for them.
@@scotam02 That's how it was for a long time.... And switching the NM drops to rare/ex didn't drop the prices because the BCNM drop rate was just as low, or lower, for many of the items and the Name were still camped just as much by people trying to get the r/e versions.
RMT will always be a thing they just moved on to different sources of income that made it harder for players to farm gil without camping NMs since not only are you competing with other players for those items like before, now you're competing with other players and multiple RMTs for mobs that drop those high value items and oversaturates the market, dropping prices.
@@darkaero you are wrong because moving the item to BCNMs lowers the generation rate of the money item and takes it out of the hands of the small group of bot-like campers that constantly raise the price of the item with every drop they get out in the open world. It is the same names that tend to no-life camp these things and run the market and jack up the prices.

IIRC original era stuns also kept their TP and it would kinda dangerous because they would ramp up to 300tp and would hit another tp move extra hard
see that's not how I remember it, but those days are hazy. I recall stunning bomb toss back in the day and not worrying after.

I was doing San d'Oria mission 7-2. We got down to the last Orc, the RNG, and I prayed and hit stun and successfully stunned his Eagle Eye Shot. The whole party was amazed, myself included.

I actually stopped playing on the server the other day when I started seeing mercenary shouts, which can ruin a game like this. I was hoping we wouldn't see those outside of abyssea era but I was wrong. 🤷♂️
Someone renegged a deal with that guy. He started /shouting about being ripped off and nobody cared. They instead heckled him. I think you'll appreciate this.

Ashita is a piece of software used in playing on private servers.
I like how you're personally a fan so people can "still be in that competition" to say nothing of the botters auto farming the drops. Its a free server though so who cares if degenerate gameplay is encouraged?
Most of these are right on the Horizon main page or wiki. If this is the stuff people are asking about then they aren't doing any legwork to read. I would ignore these lazy aholes.
I don't mind changes to the vanilla game but they need to be positive example the Shield is something that should have been utilized a lot better.However Horizon is too slow too cumbersome and not at all FUN

I have the best tip of all don't get caught up in this hype just because you see loads of other players.Most people MOST of the time are just farming nodes items and soloing so why does it matter how many are playing?
The economy is already busted and i have no idea how that much gil got into the game already considering it was busted after only 1 month I was there 3 weeks after launch .
i have tried 4x and each time i run at that super slow pace bored out of mind then just realize why the heck am i wasting time like this go down on a knee and logout.
I play on a server that is not over the top era boring but is very challenging and i get trusts and books but i am only a max 60 character after playing for several months.
I am not ever going to FORCE myself to enjoy something i don't enjoy just because it has more people than other servers my most important aspect is FUN now then later and always.
I played since launch. From my understanding, the economy went bottoms up immediately because of desynth skill ups and fishing exploits. Only a small group of people were aware of this, alongside those close enough to the developers to take advantage. No accounts were banned for abusing desynth, so by the 2nd week in, we had people with maxed crafting. The only bans came around for fishing exploiters and botters, which led to the minimum level requirement for fishing (nearly forgot the bans for camps that exploited BST, except for those who were close to the developers, of course). It was too little, too late, by that point.
Moreover, around the 4th or 5th week, developers suspiciously removed the market manipulation rule from their website (they claimed they no longer wished to receive "false" reports), meaning anyone who profited from the exploits early on had free reign to completely monopolize key markets on the MB - which, just so happened to be players close to the developers, and the developers themselves. I immediately realized where that was going, and the specific voices in the community that were defending the removal of the rule and left. It would not surprise me in the slightest if news comes out that developer sock puppet accounts are selling gil on 3rd party sites for crypto. Private servers don't stay "volunteer projects" for long, and quickly become unsatisfied with the measly donations needed to run operations.
