    Finally another crazy hill climb test! This time with top dawgs in the VESC world: Floatwheel adv pro vs Fungineers' SuperFlux motor with Floatboxx controller by Rob. No regular fm boards could make it 30% up this hill.. Average slope is 26°/50% grade, steepest part is 32°/62.5%😱
    Floatwheel is 84V, SuperFlux powered by 75V ME4T pack by Mario Contino. Which one would you guess wins? The result may surprise you.. Either way both are insane torque and power monsters!!
    Floatwheel vs DIY vesc, the future of motion is truly exciting🔮

    Hey great video. Its it possible to price your products so that it is cheaper than buying the Floatwheel? Adding up the prices of all the parts and shipping, the cost of the DIY is way more expensive after consideration of build time. The parts need to be at least 25% cheaper. Please comment and let the community know if you will reduce your prices so that the DIY kit costs less than just buying the Floatwheel.

    • @MaxxSend
      @MaxxSend  Před 9 měsíci

      thanks dude! but I don't make any of these parts, way above my pay grade hahah. Depending on your desired setup your DIY parts may indeed be more than FW. This is because of each company factoring in their time and profit separately, along with shipping, so yes it adds up..
      DIY route is for those who want a specific setup to their riding style. If you currently don't have any parts yet, the best route is FW hands down. All the important components such as battery, BMS, controller, motor etc are all sourced for you for a fair price. You get wayy more power than GT too. Watch my most recent vid at the end Conclusions so you may better understand why. You'll see how FW is constantly developing new ideas and innovation, and they back their products 110%. You said “ I won’t bother comparing the DIY vesc and the float wheel with the “boring” GT” You just exposed my point don’t compare and FM board to a VESC! the comparison is unrealistic. I didn’t say there was an FM board in that video bruh. Of course the VESC is better. I do have to say tho the onewheel GT is the best out of the box onewheel you can get and it’s the most reliable and has lots of head room for push back which is making the GT way more trustworthy and reliable with plenty of torque and Calling the Onewheel GT "boring" isn't cool at all. I do the endurance racing with the GT I don’t own one but I used a friends board to race once and I’m going like top 33.8 mph on it. And his onewheel is stock. because there are many people who have this board and take pride in it being their ride of choice. It might make them feel like what they ride is not considered 'cool'. Talking down on the the GT isn’t okay?

      @@M.Grayson405 no dude we still don't agree and you still don't fully understand lol I have 0% regret of comparing the vesc vs fm boards back in the day. It was what helped people understand just how much potential vesc tech has for the aftermarket and open source worlds. But it wasn't always better than fm. How would you have known that "of course the VESC is better"? Prior to me comparing vesc vs fm in May 2022, most people in North America were still unsure and hesitant about vesc, for good reason because it was still lacking in performance for the onewheel and the ride not as good as fm programming. Then with those comparison videos and further improvements thereafter it helped spur the movement and interest here in the US. Since then many more intelligent people have joined to help further improve the vesc programming to finally surpass that of fm's programming about 5 months later after I made the comparison vids. Fast forward to now, I again repeat there is no need to compare vesc to fm anymore because vesc performance and programming has far surpassed that of fm, but it *didn't start that way, and has never always been like that*. Here is the main point: vesc wasn't inherently better than fm. There had to be comparisons from the beginning and a lot of work had to be put in to get there! Please try and understand that, that is the most I can lay it out for ya.
      Lastly, I shall keep saying the gt is boring cuz it's my opinion :) Didn't you say we can have our own opinions? I'm not trying to change yours, just trying to help you understand the background of why it was crucial that I used to compare vesc and fm, and now why I don't. You can twist that to however you like.

If fungineers and Tony tells us the amount of copper in the stator we can pretty much tell the stronger motor!!!

    • @MaxxSend
      @MaxxSend  Před 10 měsíci +3

      According to fungineers: "It's simple what we did was put the maximum amount of copper possible, the more copper, the more current the motor can turn into usable power, before being saturated, known as stator saturation. So with a hypercore, the amount of copper is tiny, it can take a few amps but after that any more current is just turning into heat. The SF also has larger wires so a lesser resistance to current and more usable power can be successfully transferred"

      waddup! I like riding trails lifted for more clearance, so just kept it like that since the floatwheel's tire is bigger than the trail pro on superflux so clearance was nearly identical at around 5 inches. The floatwheel only scraped the nose once, so clearance wasn't an issue, it was always the fw motor crunching or stalling out. Biggest factor is that the superflux can take more current than cannoncore.

    I have a feeling its just cuz the floatwheel tire having less grip ngl, maybe slap a real tfl enduro on there and compare again or slap on the same tire as the one on your superflux, u keep getting a slight bit of wheel slip which brings yr nose down and u end up getting stuck and spinning even more

      The Enduro also slips out super easy. There just isn't a lot of tread on it. I swapped my Enduro to a Slayer on my SuperFlux build and I get way more traction.

      @MaxxSend  Před 10 měsíci

      The reason the FW gets some wheelslip is cuz this is the first gen motor in which the magnets have been setup to get more low end torque. Sure a different treaded tire may help a tiny bit, but only one attempt did the FW lose traction and spin out. All other attempts the FW never scraped nose and it was the motor that started crunching or stalling. It mostly comes down to the motor current capacity, the superflux has a ton more copper packed into it and can run more amps, more power.

      FYI. More traction = more resistance.

      @@MaxxSend Yes off course.. thats right! But still doesent get it, how it can be more powerful than the floatwheel that has around 6700watts on the dyno. The superflux should have around 4800w of power if its 75v and 70A battery (3,8v sag x 18s x 70A)

    • @smelker
      @smelker Před 7 měsíci

      The floatwheel has 20s2p, with p42a thats 2x45a. So, 3,8v sag x 20s x 90A = 6840w. Do I miss something?

    Bro compared a lifted superflux to a normal floatwheel. Either crank your atr or lift the floatwheel next time for a better comparison. 😢

    • @MaxxSend
      @MaxxSend  Před 10 měsíci

      I like riding trails lifted for more clearance, so just kept the superflux board like that since the floatwheel's tire is bigger than the trail pro on superflux so clearance was nearly identical at around 5 inches. The floatwheel only scraped the nose once, so clearance wasn't an issue, it was always the fw motor crunching or stalling out. Both on the same tune. Biggest factor is that the superflux can take more current than cannoncore.

  • @Zetler
    @Zetler Před 10 měsíci

    How come Floatwheel is so underpowered.

    • @MaxxSend
      @MaxxSend  Před 10 měsíci +2

      Fw recommended to go only as high as 130/-130/200, I set it too 120/-120/220. It's not that fw is so underpowered, it's got an insane amount of torque and power. It's that superflux is capable of handling more current, likely due to it having more copper.
