USING THIS METHOD YOU CAN UPGRADE YOUR CONSOLE TO 500GB, 1TB AND 2TB SSDs. 960Gb SSDs will be recognized as 500Gb drive and after installing Xbox OS you have to connect that SSD to your PC and manually extend "User Content" partition to maximum available space. You can use software like Acronis, Mini tool Partition Wizard etc.
Can I upgrade to 2tb on the original Xbox one ?
@@NickKokkinos sure! 2Tb is a maximum supported capacity.
@1misanthropist most likely the official tool will format your 4Tb SSD as a 2Tb drive. Then you have to connect that SSD drive to a PC and extend "user content" partition to maximum size.
Does doing this make ur xbox one s faster or some think with a ssd
@@dustyfarm5r577 It will faster: boot, install games, load games and it will load your missions and saves faster than with HDD.
This makes the Xbox One X feel how it was designed to run! They should have just included an SSD from the getgo.
They also had a plan for NVMe SSD but for some reason they ditched that idea. You can check out my last video about Xbox disassembly where I was showing unpopulated pads for M.2 slot.
Price rise s
@@ElectronicsComputers They wanted to save it for the Series X and S
At the time to expensive
It would too expensive to do that. 1tb or 2tb ssd cost a lot, which will make the One X price even higher.
This tutorial got straight to the point and stayed there - you can pause and then follow steps, nice and easy. While I was swapping out the 1TB drive for a 2TB SSD I figured it was worth getting the fan out and giving that a clean, which wasn't too difficult. And then much to my surprise, when I put everything back together and reinstalled, all was well! No scripts required. Thank you.

For those of you who followed this video and wonder what happened to the Xbox One X processor explosion animation when booting it has to be installed seperately or you can wait for an Xbox update and they install it free when they update. This video was great and made it easy to do. 2013Electronics&Computers you might want to make a video on how to install the Xbox One S and X boot animation for those that want it on their consoles as this procedure does not include it. It is not needed, but some people may want it. For those that do not want to wait on an update:P
Just wait for a few days maybe a week and boot-up animation will be back.

Thanks for the video, you have the most simplest instructions out all the videos out there. I just upgraded my XBox One X to a Samsung 2TB SSD. Quesrion. You put a 2tb in directly and then used osu1 and it read as 2tb or 1tb? I want to do this but am afraid it will only read as 1tb unless u install scripts etc which I don't want to do lol
@@MarcoS-yd9pf After installing a clean Osu1, my XBox One X read 2TB. After all the format process, it showed 1.7 TB of useable space. I was actually going install a 1TB, cause this was the original size that it came with. However I read multiple posts from the interweb saying that Xbox 1 One X supports a maximum 2TB HDD, so I took a leap of fate. I had trouble installing osu1 at first, but I was able to fix this by using the onboard format and reset options within the Xbox's trouble shooter. Also, my Xbox loss the animation that appears after turning it on, and just goes straight into the Home Screen menu.

Q. if I have an XBOX One X (scorpio edition) with a factory 1TB drive, is it possible to upgrade to a 2TB without scripts/using the exact same method above? You mention at the end of this video that there is no need for scripts when using the same capacity drive, so I'm little unsure.
Thank you for your comment! Xbox officially supports 500Gb, 1TB and 2TB HDD/SSD drives. So you can easily upgrade it without any problems. Never use those scripts because it may get you into some issues with the official updates and you may be unable to perform a hard reset. Moreover, I don't recommend using unknown third-party software.

Awesome video! Definitely easy to follow along with. As soon as I heard the offline update file was 5GB... I knew I'd have to go with the cloning option because my internet is atrocious and downloading those games again or that update file would be quite the process for me.
I always recommend "clean" OS installation but if it's not the option for you then just simply clone your drive. And when the cloning is done resize manually the "user content" partition to maximum available space.

Alternatively, you can have a second Xbox One (any kind) on the same home network. On that second Xbox, use the "network transfer" option to copy Minecraft from your first Xbox. This will copy any saved worlds. Then after replacing the HDD in your first Xbox, you can network transfer Minecraft back.

So found your video to be helpful! But through my experience I learned that if a console is part of the "Xbox Preview Program," then none of this, including the OSU1 offline update will work, even with a new hard drive. I thought my Xbox One X had a bad hard drive since a recent update got caught in a fail/restart cycle. Replaced the hard drive with a new one, but same issue continued to happen and offline update would always instantly fail. Decided to test the old hard drive with SeaTools and both short and long generic tests passed on the old HHD. So started looking at other issues. Finally was able to determine that the offline update and/or scripts for a new hard drive will not work for a console on the Xbox Preview Program. To do so, the console must be removed (unenrolled) from the preview program and then offline update or even an online update will work. At least that is what worked for me.
That's right! Offline update works only for standard builds and if you decided to participate in Xbox insider program it will modify OS on your console. So, first you have to unenroll from the program and then perform the offline system update.
I just purchased Samsung 860 Evo 2TB, and all the other parts needed, and I can't wait to get started on this whole thing. I'll let you know how it all goes!
price? also new 870 EVO is great for one X!
@@revelator3665 it was $210 on Amazon! Also 870 is indeed faster but it doesn't matter because XB1X can only read/write as fast as its SATA III interface will allow. It's bottlenecked. However, internal SATA SSD is almost (not quite) as fast as Series X NVME. not joking! If you go to most CZcams videos you'll find that SATA III is almost as fast at loading xbox games as NVME!!!
@@ShadowLancer128 Yes i know i had sometimes ago One X with internal MX 500
Ok so I said I'd let you know how everything goes.
I only had one minor hiccup in the entire process.
I used some 2mm blue thermal pads on half of my VRAMs that didn't work and had to swap them back out for the original thermal pads provided with the xbox.
Other than that,
My boot up time is almost instant,
My load times are drastically reduced,
And im getting slightly higher framerate on most games.
Thank you so much for the information OP because now I don't need an Xbox Series X until the whole supply chain issue takes care of itself.
Thank you for everything!!
Thanks now ac valhalla fast travel takes 20 sec instead of 1 min good performance
(Used samsung 870qvo 1tb)
QVO!!! LOLOLOL much better 860EVO OR MX500 than shitty qvo. www.techpowerup.com/review/samsung-870-qvo-1-tb/
Good job!
The top cover gave me such a hard time to go on 😭
bro same 😭😭 ive been doing it for hours
Thanx. This was very informative!!
Btw which 2 TB ssd is the best and cheapest for replacement?
There are two links in the video description for the best and relatively not expensive SSDs on the market. Samsung and Crucial.
@@ElectronicsComputers Thank you!!!
Brilliant video. One question. What is the set of tools you used to disassemble the console? For example, what screwdriver was used? What picking tool, what clamp, etc. Thank you in advance.
To disassemble the console you'll need a torx TR8 and TR10, tweezers and also a thing flat-head screwdriver.
I was using this toolkit: amzn.to/33Rr10s
Wish I would have watch this first instead I watched some idiot who said disconnect your blu-ray drive and took me 35 minutes trying to connect the 7 pins that kept bending down
System Error E101 after rebooting and using the OSU1 file on the USB stick. That was with a USB 2.0 drive. 16gb. Going to try a USB 3.0.
EDIT: Using a 3.0 USB stick as well as making sure the ethernet cable was unplugged, it went through. I'm using a Crucial standard 2.5 MX500 SSD. Thanks for your video. :)
Good job! I'm happy to help!
My friend I followed what you said after about an hour of failures and it worked perfectly. Usb3 stick with ethernet unplugged. Thank you so much!
@@adamcanny8531 You're very welcome, and I'm glad you got it working! 8)
Just did this well worth it and added another ssd for on the go I have so much power thx so much
I'm glad I could help you!
I don't know how but I had no idea there was a platter drive in my One X ...I just always assumed it had an SSD ... great video btw ,I think this is a very worthy upgrade to consider
Thank you for the comment 😊
Didn't spect a tech tutorial by Leonard Cohen from heaven
I love his songs especially By the rivers dark.
SUCCESS !!!!!!!
That was it , Microsoft updated the osu1 file that’s why it wasn’t working
Future note to self always download the osu1 file right before you format 😂🤣.!!!!!!
So did you download the files a couple weeks out then when you went to install them, it wouldn't work? I'm running into that same problem and was wondering if it's the install files. I've opened the Xbox again and made sure it's all hooked up properly and it seems to be good, but my install files aren't working. I'll try downloading the osu1 again.
MetalxXxMayhem yes and when I did that it gave an error ......so what I did after that , I downloaded the files from the Microsoft site at that moment , re ran the process and it worked
@@ewilson1979 That is reassuring. Thanks for the reply.
Just a follow up. It worked!!
@@MetalxXxMayhem that’s great 😃 and yes it’s still going strong with the animation and everything, can’t wait to play cyberpunk on it when it releases
Hello! I followed your excellent tutorial to upgrade my Xbox One X! Thanks very much! Do you mind if I put a link to your video in my video description?
Thank you for letting me know, I'm glad I could help you! Sure, you can put the link to my video. I've just checked your video and it's really cool. I have a video about upgrading Xbox to M.2 NGFF SSD you can check that out too. And if you've already seen it I hope it's not me who confused you about those M.2 SSDs.
@@ElectronicsComputers No, your tutorial was perfect. I’d already purchased the NVME card and bits before watching your video. It was just my ignorance on the difference between NGFF and PCIe, and the lack of SATA adaptors for PCIe cards.
