- BREAK IT DOWN | The DX Story (Full Faction Documentary)
In the late 90’s there were a few staple wrestling t-shirts you would see around the schoolyard. One popular one of course was Austin 3:16, while elsewhere there were always plenty of NWO shirts going around too. Aside from these though, perhaps the most popular of them all was DeGeneration-X. Yes as everyone’s favourite group of rebels, DX broke every rule and pressed every button that was in their reach, with this ultimately managing to capture the hearts of every teenage boy and girl that was watching as, whether it be in their first, second, third, or later fourth incarnations, they were always able to irritate the right people and come out on top in the process. So, with that said, for the thousands in attendance and the millions watching at home, let’s getting ready to take a deep dive into their entire history in Break it Down: The D-Generation-X Story.

Would you please do a Shane Douglas story please 🤞
Roddy piper, Braun Strowman, Alexa bliss & Asuka.
The jocks and nerds wearing the same t-shirts in high school showed a form of unity. Being a teen during this era was too sweet.
I see what you did there 👀 lol
🤦🏻♂️ “jocks” couldn’t get enough of those DX t-shirts…

I remember back in 2006 when DX Reunited, people at school were doing the DX Chop all over the place. I did it and got detention. Completely worth it.
The crotch chop was so much better when we did it in school back in the late 90s/early 00s.
Lol,me n my homeboys use to always do it n some kids would look at us like we were crazy and others knew that we got it from Wrestling.
I had dx suck it wording backside of my backpack principal asked me to remove it
Lol,dats 2 damn funny.
I remember doing that at school in the 90’s, with pretty much the same results.
During peak DX, my friend’s daughter was in a school play. She was probably not even ten yet. At the end of the play, all the actors came out to take a bow and this sweet innocent looking tiny little girl did the DX “suck it” across her pelvis in front of the entire school and the parents. It was hilarious. Her mom was mortified.
Hahahahaha best story ever 🤣
😂😂😂this is why DX is legendary. We all got suspended, or punished for doing the "suck it".
Awesome and UNFORGETTABLE!!!!
SHE WILL LIVE IN infamy beside her classmates & peers
#4EVER❤❤❤
That's BADASS
😂😂😂😂
DX and the NWO were two factions that truly defined the Monday Night Wars
I got into wrestling in 98 and by that time the Four Horsemen felt like the dad group even with Malenko and Benoit.
Then dx invaded wcw with a tank
Also edgier than nwo, see insane promos, including the one WWE were fined over
Also love your videos, but why isn't 123 kid in thumbnail?
All your videos are amazing
@@Roflcrabs Same. It was 1997 for me.
And if you're not down with that, we got to words for you....sorry pal.
The two factions were just one Kliq
The "90's wrestling" vibe will never be recreated. The entire ambience of professional wrestling was just different back then. It was huge on a scale we havent seen since. Even in the era of internet and social media. Wrestling molded pop culture in the late 90's/early 2000's. Everyone and anyone loved wrestling at that time. Even people who you'd never expect in your wildest dreams. I remember some teachers wearing Austin/The Rock/NWO shirts.
It was truly a mainstream giant.
Not only that, it was also completely juvenile yet mature all at once. The top talent were given Carte Blanche. Their promos were their own. Not just recycled garbage from writers who have no personal connection to the character.
Even the mid card was Unique and exciting. Organically evolving characters and storylines. The mid card guys back then such as Godfather, Val Venus, Billy gun and road dogg, etc. Were just as big and popular as some of the headliners are today. The crowd pops for those guys were massive.
I could go on and on. I was just a youngster in the early/mid 90's but it was an AMAZING time to become a wrestling fan. I lived through it all and remember it fondly.
It was around 1994, when I was 17/18 that I slowed my consumption of wrestling, but you're spot on.
It was a lot of fun!
1997-2004 were gold times
Your spot on with that comment. Even Today!! You still see Austin 3:16 shirts. You see different variations of NWO. i know as of latley on NXT there is a shirt fashioned like the NWO shirt. Shits still around. People still chant "WHAT!?" TO THIS DAY. that era of wrestling is burned into alot people's souls! Not to mention all of the Rock's punchlines. During this time. Eating pootang pie and slapping the smile off your jambronie ass! Next time your out and around town. Look for those old shirts. People still wear them. Its still out there.
Yeh bro the mid card was even entertaining back then with the Dudley Boyz, Hardy Boyz, Edge Christian, the Hurricane. I even liked the comedy skits they tried with Kane. I think what made that show so watchable is you had no idea what was going to happen.
Yeah. It's weird, because I was born and grew up when wrestling was huge and throughout my life I basically wached it fade into obscurity. When I was a kid you could talk to anyone about wrestling, but now you ask someone if they are into wrestling and most people say no.
I was part of the the 2006 DX era and it was the most amazing thing I would watch every Monday on RAW
Those were the days!!!!
Imagine if you'd been around for one of the good versions!
@@ConernicusRex I don't think this version was bad per say. I was bron in 1991 and started watching wrestling around the invasion then stopped and came back to it around 2005 with the Undertaker vs the ortons cascet match at No Mercy. So not long before the DX reuniting happened and then even my little sister got hooked on wrestling because of these 2.
By that point HBK had become this goofball. Bad ass HBK being the leader of the first and original DX was too damn cool.
That 97 roster was super loaded. DX, Hart Foundation, The Nation with the Rock, Stone Cold, Undertaker, Mankind 🔥🔥🔥🔥
97 was the peak of the attitude era and the Monday Night Wars. Most consider it the best year pro wrestling ever had. I do not disagree.
Kane
The crotch chop was the dab of the late 90s
Except way way more edgy and sick
DX was my all time favs back in the mark 2 days "1997" I remember those great times, great to be a DX fan in those days
I still wear my DX shirt to this day. Love DX.
same
I wore mine to work one night and almost got in trouble for it. 😁
I have a bootleg crewneck sweater of the OG logo... I still bust it out from time to time during the colder 2nd half of the year
Don't lie, we all felt cool while doing the "Suck it" X movement as kids.
And if you're not down with that, we got 2 words for ya:

🤘🏻💪🏻🍻👊🏻
I was switching back and forth from USA to TNT every Monday night 😂
Same here. I was watching on 2 TV next to each others…. lol 😆
Do you have any proof of that 😂
The Kliq was by far the most powerful backstage group in wrestling history even when they had to split up they managed to stay on top of now 2 wrestling companys forming the 2 best stables of the Monday Night Wars and dominating the whole wrestling world for years love em or hate em there huge success is a story for the ages and will never be replicated
Groundbreaking era. DX helped define the Attitude era and Monday Night wars.
I got into WWE back in 2006, and the first episode of RAW that I've watched had DX (HHH and Shawn Michaels) feuding with the McMahons (Vince and Shane). I really began to fall in love with DX when they attached a chain to Vince's limo, which caused the rear wheels to break off when the limo began to move. It really got more funny when Vince screamed out of anger when he saw the DX logo sprayed on the limo he was in. To me, DX has been the best back in 2006/2007 when they feuded with the McMahons and Rated RKO (the tag team of Edge and Randy Orton).
Me too
Great memories from the 90's... it will always be the WWF to me!
I got into wrestling/wwe in 2006. I love the group overall but I was brought into the 4th incarnation of DX, those were great times
Eh wrestling was fading at that time, especially right after the death of Eddie Guerrero.
Damn that sucks
I wouldnt mind seeing a Billy Gunn bio cant forget the assman era
He's the only one still wrestling. Which is ironic since HHH was always the one who was clean.
His name is Billy ass sir.
He had the best intro music of all time....I like to pick ...like to kick em the best surprises always come up from behind...cuz IM AN ASSMAN....
You mean bob
Chyna was underrated
She wasn’t underrated she got snaked
Don't forget about Test he got sandbag by Hunter too. He wasn't going to allow Test and Stephanie grow any feelings for each other.
I remember getting in trouble at school just for doing the “ Suck It 🙅🏽♂️ “
Hands down the best team in WWE history
90s HBK is amazing
“Killing the business: The Young Bucks Story”
Please give it to us!
I've been wanting this forever.
I love your videos. This ones amazing as well man! Keep it all up!
Technically, DX is now running the company as HHH is running the whole thing!!
Bro that introduction was phenomenal. I love your narration!
Attitude era was BY FAR the best era in wrestling history. Factions were all over the place. It mattered what faction had what wrestlers. Wrestlers back stabbing one faction and joining another. The good ol days.
Your channel deserves 50 million subscribers! Awesome keep it up 👍
Love your vids bro. Big time dx fan, don't watch wrestling at all now but your giving me great nostalgia vibes man
One thing I loved about DX, it was just 6 wrestlers. However, with NWO, damn near everyone in WCW was in NWO.
And that's what screwed up the NWO they should have had no more 6 members Hall & Nash,Hogan, Six Pac ,and 1 WCW mid card star as the U.S Champion
0:44 c'mon man that should've been "ARE. YOU. READY!!!!"
I remember being like 8 or 9 years old and having full blown arguments with my friends about DX being better than nWo. Mind you, I had never watched a single episode of WCW, nor was I aware that both factions were just splintered offshoots of the same Kliq, lmao. I swore I was an expert though
anyone else get a little teary eyed when watching these videos you saw as a young kid or teen?
Great video. Thanks for taking the time for the backstory and what built of to them!
I've been waiting for this one!
Enjoy bro 🍻🤘🏻💪🏻
DX were one of the best. It was so cool being a teen in the late 90s, such an awesome time and great memories. Today's teens don't have that.
I was born in 94 and even I agree with you. Things deeply changed in the world like 2006. I remember the 90s even being a child and society just was... Better.
@@DrSourPurp I was 13 in 1994 and I remember things were just better back then. I didn't appreciate it at the time
Bro stf the kids got Tekashi69
@@blank3494Yeah but us 90s teens were cooler. You lot didn't have what we had
I agree 💯. I graduated HS in 2000. My childhood in the 80s and teen years in the 90s were the absolute best. Me and my friends loved DX and HBK❤️❤️
Wow I didn't know most of this thank you bro! I think I only caught from 1999 onwards but never realized how much history was there before.
Awesome video, thanks man!!!
Nice summary of a long history. Thanks for this
Great video , 2 minutes in Im subscribing 🤙🏻
I would give anything to see the interviews and matches with '97 DX to 2006 DX again and for the first time. I was a WCW fan at the time.
I only got into wrestling in late 2007, so ashamedly my first exposure to DX was the 2009 version🥴. Damn how I wish I could’ve started watching at least by 02-03 and seen their feud live
My Dad was in his 30s during the Raw vs WCW days in the 90s. My step brother slapped Sables ass when they walked out during a RAW filming! I was a teenage girl at that point and not interested. But my brother went to quite a few matches during that time!
Everyone in my school loved DX.
Dude, just going over the stories of DX it was so much good story telling back then.
This will be great cheers Andy
🍻🍻🍻
@@WRESTLEWITHANDY plzz make Chris Benoit rabid wolverine story...it will be ur highest viewed video I guarantee it
I loved DX still do they were funny and the storyline's were priceless. Chyna was my absolute favorite female wrestler.
While I liked the video, I got a couple of issues.
1) Chyna's assention in popularity in 99 & her achievements, especially #1 contender spot she took from hhh, as it solidified the divide between her and the faction.
2) the complete omission of Hornswoggle on this video as it epitomized the fun nature of the PG era DX and it's more family friendly shenanigans.
who cares about the pg era dx glad he left it out
@@lanceschutte7903 to each their own
@@lanceschutte7903 loads of ppl did
@@lanceschutte7903 pg era dx was still good for all the restrictions they had
@@sailor5278 pg era was ok.... They just seemed like they were forcing it....
2 35+ men acting like 12yr olds worked wayyy better in the 90’s..... Not so much in 2006, entertaining for someone's noatalgia
90s was such a fun era- anything goes baby.
DX was the greatest and most popular wrestling stable in wwe history
Dx was my favorite thing about wwe when I was younger
Loved all!
I was there for all the incarnations of dx my favorite is always gonna be the original lineup then probably the third version but all time is the first one
What old fans have to understand is that any teen watch WWE around 2006 didnt knew much about the DX besides the corporate version. So the 4 version was the first experience of DX and WE LOVED IT. Im 30 now and i remember rocking that 2006 DX shirt with both hitting the cross chop.
Watching dx during 06 and making Vince life living hell no pun intended wwe 06 will be my favorite era
You didnt go through the most recent reunion, in 2010, when they feuded with big show and Chris Jericho, hornswoggle (little people's court), etc
**LITTLE PPLS COURT!!! HOLY SHIT, THAT WAS AWESOME!!!!**
2009-2010
Because it was a send-off of Shawn Michaels
Dx was what the 90s was about they were those cool kids at school always in trouble but everyone loved
HBK should be in the middle in the thumbnail.
I had a huge crush on Chyna. As far as I was concerned she was perfect ❤️❤️❤️
Chyna doesn't get enough credit
She looked like a dude
@@DTB1995 that sounds like a personal problem, get over it
Ikr I miss her she needa get in the WOH on her own. I believe how they did her is why WWE is failing now.
As a guy who started watching wrestling at the start of the original DX I think The second incarnation was the best
Booker T: “Hit row will be as big as DX”
Vince: “lol”
I've just got two words for ya...
THUMBS UP!
🤘🏻🤘🏻
Excellent job bro👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿💯💯💯
Thank god we are all alive in the 90s
crazy how you used to be subbed to me when you had like 1000 subs, good effort dude
Appreciate it bro 💪🏻🤘🏻👊🏻💪🏼
I got sent to the principles office every Tuesday from doing the suck-it after watching raw the previous night lol...couldn't afford to watch the PPVs on Sundays lol
DX was my favorite part of the Attitude Era!
12:18 that kick cannot be more ridiculous
He threw it well. Landed it solid
The beginning of this really does emphasize how much of a POS Shawn Michaels was back in the 90s. But, DX was awesome!
That's his actual attitude
90's? more like all his life
@@nattobaby Not really. By the time he returned in 2002, HBK wasn't the complete ass he was when he was forced to retire in 1998. He had changed. He had married former Nitro girl Whisper (Rebecca Hickenbottom), had children, and even found God, so when DX reformed in 2006-2007 and again in 2009-2010, the faction whittled back down to a tandem was a pathetic PG shell of its former self, which was to be expected, because both HHH & HBK were over 40+ and were fathers with children of their own, so they couldn't be the brash, unapologetic pricks they were in the '90s anymore & everyone watching them take the piss out of HHH's increasingly senile father-in-law and brother-in-law (Vinnie Mac & Shane O' Mac) as well as their hired goons honestly should've realized this.
Before the finger poke of doom there was the Triple H splash of rebellion
Make a documentary on Bullet Club 🤘🤘
Agree , I also recommend it too
Would be cool to see you do a story on Chyna. Great videos btw
Great video as always, my guy! You should do one video about Sami Zayn or Malakai Black or even Hangman Page! Cheers
DX was awesome, my favorite incarnation of the group, was after Shawn left WWF due to injury… HHH-Steph-X Pac-Tori-Road DOGG-Billy Gunn was just fantastic.
What a time to be alive ‼️😢
So glad I grew up in this era the best era in wrestling
Loved the ending
I Got Two Words For Ya! I Subscribed!
Rick Rude was a legitimate “insurance policy” with him being a legitimate tough guy and described by Barry Darsow as a pitbull and the toughest guy who was a bouncer at Grammar B’s the strip club where the Road Warriors Hawk & Animal, Nikita Koloff, Scott Norton, Barry Darsow (Smash from Demolition & Repo Man) & obviously Rick Rude in the toughest part of Minneapolis. We all know the story (well it’s common knowledge) that Rick Rude beat up the Ultimate Warrior backstage for fucking up a match and was rude to Rick Rude when he approached Warrior to tell him what he done wrong as Rick was a perfectionist in the ring. I’ve heard Warrior in shoot interviews say how much respect he had for Rick Rude (Rick was dead by this point) because he was a perfectionist and that he helped him out the most in the ring with Warrior saying he had some of his best matches with Rude. Rick Rude didn’t like Shawn Michaels and I’m surprised he didn’t beat the shit out of him, but he was Vince’s boy toy at the time and probably felt his employment opportunities were small at that point so that’s probably why he didn’t. But after the Montreal Screwjob he was so disgusted with Vince McMahon’s actions as well as being a friend of Bret Hart he walked out of WWE that day as he didn’t have a written contract which allowed him to go straight to WCW with no 90 day non compete clause hence why he was on Raw (pre recorded show) & Nitro (live show) on the same night. But people knew Rick Rude was someone not to be fucked with
Those were the best years of wrestling when it was genuinely enjoyable to sit and watch tv😂
People don’t truely understand just how amazing DX was throughout its lifetime they helped WWF comeback and were monumental in winning the war
For me DX mark 2 is by far the best DX era. It's fun to watch them especially my favorite duo X-Pac and Road Dog.
I miss those days
😭😭😭 It was a right of passage to get in trouble at school for flashing the DX symbol from 98' to about '03-'05, even guys in WCW were doing it on TV. What an awsome time for professional Wrestling. Anything could happen, May Young and Mark Henry birthed an inflated latex glove on Raw lol. They let a 304 train be a gimmick on national TV.
Shawn is the 🐐
Great video, only parts I feel u forgot was their tag title run in 09-10 right before HBK retired and RAW 1000
No matter what era DX will always be my favorite wrestling teams of all time
Idk if you're only looking for modern era wrestlers but my suggestions for your next few videos would be that you do one on either killer Kowalski, or maybe Eddie Guerrero, or The Dynamite kid. If you did one on Dynamite kid you should also include Chris Benoit story into that a little bit because he idolized basically his entire wrestling persona and moveset off of The Dynamite kid and there's some interesting topics to go into regarding their story in general.
Great video! What happened during the cut at 7:10? Thanks!
There was the DX reunion in 2000 when HHH, the New Age Outlaws and Chyna were in a tag match against the Radicalz on Raw. Overall, DX is one of the greatest factions ever.
I like how you introduced this video just like Triple h himself
Despite the criticism for 2006 DX, I was a big fan of them for being very comedic and being the first "Mark" I was introduced to. HBK and Triple H made it still fun to watch them despite Michael's being a born-again Christian
Bret Hart did a lot to start up the attitude era, Got Austin over in that double turn at wrestlemania 13(Austin also took the skull logo Bret used) started the name Degeneration X and helped The Rock get a credible look with the matches they had, all that and the WWE tossed him away after they got huge and fans got tired of him smh
They made the right call. Saved the company
Now I do remember Hunter Hearst Helmsley appearing in WCW in the early 90's before coming to WWE. He wore a French outfit it looked like or attire from the 17th century it seemed. Then when I first saw Triple H join the WWE he had the same ring attire at first and eventually like all other wrestlers go through their phases of changing their wrestling character.
You forgot to say that DX got into the hall of fame
**ikr!!!!!**
DX is 1 of my favorite tag team in the WWE
I was born 90 I didnt even realize it was that deep. Thank you I pick up when hbk lost to austin
I remember in elementary school we literally had an emergency assembly addressing the amount of kids screaming "Suck It!" and doing the DX chop
That's hilarious
The most rebellious group ever
