  • BREAK IT DOWN | The DX Story (Full Faction Documentary)
In the late 90’s there were a few staple wrestling t-shirts you would see around the schoolyard. One popular one of course was Austin 3:16, while elsewhere there were always plenty of NWO shirts going around too. Aside from these though, perhaps the most popular of them all was DeGeneration-X. Yes as everyone’s favourite group of rebels, DX broke every rule and pressed every button that was in their reach, with this ultimately managing to capture the hearts of every teenage boy and girl that was watching as, whether it be in their first, second, third, or later fourth incarnations, they were always able to irritate the right people and come out on top in the process. So, with that said, for the thousands in attendance and the millions watching at home, let’s getting ready to take a deep dive into their entire history in Break it Down: The D-Generation-X Story.

During peak DX, my friend’s daughter was in a school play. She was probably not even ten yet. At the end of the play, all the actors came out to take a bow and this sweet innocent looking tiny little girl did the DX “suck it” across her pelvis in front of the entire school and the parents. It was hilarious. Her mom was mortified.

The "90's wrestling" vibe will never be recreated. The entire ambience of professional wrestling was just different back then. It was huge on a scale we havent seen since. Even in the era of internet and social media. Wrestling molded pop culture in the late 90's/early 2000's. Everyone and anyone loved wrestling at that time. Even people who you'd never expect in your wildest dreams. I remember some teachers wearing Austin/The Rock/NWO shirts.
It was truly a mainstream giant.
Not only that, it was also completely juvenile yet mature all at once. The top talent were given Carte Blanche. Their promos were their own. Not just recycled garbage from writers who have no personal connection to the character.
Even the mid card was Unique and exciting. Organically evolving characters and storylines. The mid card guys back then such as Godfather, Val Venus, Billy gun and road dogg, etc. Were just as big and popular as some of the headliners are today. The crowd pops for those guys were massive.
I could go on and on. I was just a youngster in the early/mid 90's but it was an AMAZING time to become a wrestling fan. I lived through it all and remember it fondly.

Your spot on with that comment. Even Today!! You still see Austin 3:16 shirts. You see different variations of NWO. i know as of latley on NXT there is a shirt fashioned like the NWO shirt. Shits still around. People still chant "WHAT!?" TO THIS DAY. that era of wrestling is burned into alot people's souls! Not to mention all of the Rock's punchlines. During this time. Eating pootang pie and slapping the smile off your jambronie ass! Next time your out and around town. Look for those old shirts. People still wear them. Its still out there.

I got into WWE back in 2006, and the first episode of RAW that I've watched had DX (HHH and Shawn Michaels) feuding with the McMahons (Vince and Shane). I really began to fall in love with DX when they attached a chain to Vince's limo, which caused the rear wheels to break off when the limo began to move. It really got more funny when Vince screamed out of anger when he saw the DX logo sprayed on the limo he was in. To me, DX has been the best back in 2006/2007 when they feuded with the McMahons and Rated RKO (the tag team of Edge and Randy Orton).

@@nattobaby Not really. By the time he returned in 2002, HBK wasn't the complete ass he was when he was forced to retire in 1998. He had changed. He had married former Nitro girl Whisper (Rebecca Hickenbottom), had children, and even found God, so when DX reformed in 2006-2007 and again in 2009-2010, the faction whittled back down to a tandem was a pathetic PG shell of its former self, which was to be expected, because both HHH & HBK were over 40+ and were fathers with children of their own, so they couldn't be the brash, unapologetic pricks they were in the '90s anymore & everyone watching them take the piss out of HHH's increasingly senile father-in-law and brother-in-law (Vinnie Mac & Shane O' Mac) as well as their hired goons honestly should've realized this.

Rick Rude was a legitimate “insurance policy” with him being a legitimate tough guy and described by Barry Darsow as a pitbull and the toughest guy who was a bouncer at Grammar B’s the strip club where the Road Warriors Hawk & Animal, Nikita Koloff, Scott Norton, Barry Darsow (Smash from Demolition & Repo Man) & obviously Rick Rude in the toughest part of Minneapolis. We all know the story (well it’s common knowledge) that Rick Rude beat up the Ultimate Warrior backstage for fucking up a match and was rude to Rick Rude when he approached Warrior to tell him what he done wrong as Rick was a perfectionist in the ring. I’ve heard Warrior in shoot interviews say how much respect he had for Rick Rude (Rick was dead by this point) because he was a perfectionist and that he helped him out the most in the ring with Warrior saying he had some of his best matches with Rude. Rick Rude didn’t like Shawn Michaels and I’m surprised he didn’t beat the shit out of him, but he was Vince’s boy toy at the time and probably felt his employment opportunities were small at that point so that’s probably why he didn’t. But after the Montreal Screwjob he was so disgusted with Vince McMahon’s actions as well as being a friend of Bret Hart he walked out of WWE that day as he didn’t have a written contract which allowed him to go straight to WCW with no 90 day non compete clause hence why he was on Raw (pre recorded show) & Nitro (live show) on the same night. But people knew Rick Rude was someone not to be fucked with

😭😭😭 It was a right of passage to get in trouble at school for flashing the DX symbol from 98' to about '03-'05, even guys in WCW were doing it on TV. What an awsome time for professional Wrestling. Anything could happen, May Young and Mark Henry birthed an inflated latex glove on Raw lol. They let a 304 train be a gimmick on national TV.

Idk if you're only looking for modern era wrestlers but my suggestions for your next few videos would be that you do one on either killer Kowalski, or maybe Eddie Guerrero, or The Dynamite kid. If you did one on Dynamite kid you should also include Chris Benoit story into that a little bit because he idolized basically his entire wrestling persona and moveset off of The Dynamite kid and there's some interesting topics to go into regarding their story in general.

Bret Hart did a lot to start up the attitude era, Got Austin over in that double turn at wrestlemania 13(Austin also took the skull logo Bret used) started the name Degeneration X and helped The Rock get a credible look with the matches they had, all that and the WWE tossed him away after they got huge and fans got tired of him smh

Now I do remember Hunter Hearst Helmsley appearing in WCW in the early 90's before coming to WWE. He wore a French outfit it looked like or attire from the 17th century it seemed. Then when I first saw Triple H join the WWE he had the same ring attire at first and eventually like all other wrestlers go through their phases of changing their wrestling character.
