HBK was my childhood hero too and I watched him as a kid in from 1992 was when I started watching wrestling and he was my favorite since day one. Once he retired vin 2010 wrestling wasn't the same anymore. I can understand when someone says he is important and has impact on their life. He was for mine too.
HBK was once in a generation talent. There will never be another HBK.

HBK vs Shelton Benjamin on RAW is perhaps one of the very best matches EVER. Those two guys had some amazing chemistry. It sucks that WWE didn't give Shelton a better push. He could have gone so much further.
Was lucky enough to see that in person and you are so right
yep great match. Still pissed to this day that they didn't do anything with his phenomenal athleticism except the occasional circus trick during ladder matches. Just one of many talents wasted by WWE in order to kiss Brock's ass.
Shawn Michaels the absolute legend. So humble and apologetic these days when he looks back on his younger days. Major respect to the man.
He’s a legend in the ring, but it’s easy to apologize many years later when it costs nothing and he’s already reaped the rewards of being the biggest prick to ever work with.

I took my little brother to the Summer Slam at Nassau Coliseum and we had ringside floor seats to see that Unsanctioned Match between HBK and HHH. Seeing that match up close and hearing every bump and impact was amazing. You often hear announcers or commentary teams talk about a match being "electrifying", but that truly was, the reaction from the audience through that match so intense and just locked in. You could see the look on Shawn's face as he set up certain moves, like he knew it was going to hurt, but he was going to do it anyway because it would make that much more of an impression. One of the best matches I have ever seen.

I love UnderTaker, Kane, Triple H, and HBK, but that match was horse-sh*t.
Shane shouldn’t have won the WWE World Cup. It should’ve been a legend like Rey Mysterio, John Cena, Randy Orton, or Jeff Hardy.
The Universal Championship Match between Braun Strowman and Brock Lesnar was also horse-sh*t. Braun laid no offense during the whole match. It was a few suplexes and 5 F-5s and that was it.
To give WWE Credit, Crown Jewel 2019 was better.

The 🐐 HBK. He Quite literally had It All. Charisma, Mic Skills, In Ring Ability, Everything
He would have been the face of WWE for longer if not for so many career threatening injuries. That man changed the face of WWE, where now small size guys could also main event. Not many world title reigns for him but he never needed them to stamp his legacy as he was the best in the ring and did shine brighter in defeats. There hasn't been anyone matching his level till date and also there will not be another HBK in future. Simply my fav and the best wrestler the world has ever seen.
He changes everything before him high-flyers weren't that common gimmicks were super campy and nobody specialized in selling other people's moves without HBK guys like the Hardy's never make it to WWE and the attitude era never happens and your right nobody under 6'5 or 250 pounds wins the companies top belt ... These things would have probably still happened but it'd of taken longer and many legends would have missed their windows of opportunity
Raw and the WWE were totally different after Shawn retired.Thats how great he was in the ring.The main event the showstopper,the icon, Mr WrestleMania was missing from the show.most of the locker room should have came out to the ring and clapped for him and honored him.Like they did when Ric flair said his farewell on Raw.

That era of wrestling was truly incredible. So many amazing memories with my childhood friends watching Shawn, Bret, Undertaker, Austin, and all the rest of the insanely good performers of the 90’s. These videos really bring back just how special it was. So glad Shawn found God and turned his life around.
Shawn Michaels is a genuine once in a lifetime performer and for me (much like most inside the business) is the single greatest all round in ring performer of all time.

Even though he wasn’t as good of a person backstage as he was on stage in his first career, Shawn Michaels is still an essential part of wrestling history who has a special place in the heart of many fans and even wrestlers who got into wrestling in the first place because they were inspired by the Heartbreak Kid! Shawn also proved to most people (not Bret Hart) that people can change with his second career beginning in 2002 seeing him as a beloved face that helped put the new talent into the spotlight and having great matches with them that put them over with the people.

Something interesting you guys should know. I had a neighbor in 1987 and he moved away before Shawn Michaels was in WWF. I met him again 12 years later when Shawn was in 1st retirement. I met him again in late 2010 after HBK retired for good. Every time I saw him after that, Shawn wasn't on WWE TV that month!
Couple of things. As a young child he lived in Reading, pronounced like 'red' not 'reed'. The barbershop segment was in 1992, not 1993.
HBK is a polarizing performer, but a damn good one at that. Bret disliked him as a person, but respected and complimented his in ring performance. That alone speaks volumes.
