The Chrysler PT Cruiser is America’s most hated, retro styled, uber-utilitarian car that also sold millions of units. With roots in the Dodge Viper and Plymouth Prowler, the PT Cruiser had a surprisingly advanced development that involved virtual reality and later featured some of the craziest models. Everything from a limited edition Brian Setzer SEMA car to Chrysler’s own PT Cruiser Turbo GT. If you thought the PT Cruiser was dumb, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet!

V8 roaring as it blasts over roads.... usually in a suburban street so some goon can show off to their fellow goons. They live high on displacement until the price of gas goes up again, as it always does, then they remember that smaller engines can have turbos and soon the cycle starts over.

My mother has a first gen so I drive both and am very aware of the differences. I don't know what their original target market was, however I was 45 when I bought my 1st and looked a long time to find a low mileage PT. Found a base model continued to look until I found my Sunset Boulevard street series with only 60k to be my last PT (I am 57 now). I am slowly customizing and will probably drop a new engine and transmission in rather than buy a new car when the time comes. In a world full of cars that look alike I cruise around happily being me in my PT!

I had a PT Cruiser back in 2012. It was a high school grad gift. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED that car. In my opinion it's a good first car for anyone. It had amazing gas mileage as it only costed me about $30 to fully fill up the tank for gas. It was compact like a car but had the space of a mid-size SUV on the inside. Parked in small spots but great for grocery shopping as the back had a rear hatch and the rear seats could go down for extra space. For a 4-cylinder it drove good on the roads but I felt like it needed a 6-cylinder because it worked too hard uphills where the motor would scream and in Washington state, we have big hills. 6 cylinder cars help in hilly environments but it got the job done. Sadly they aren't built well for crashes because when I got rear ended it was about $4000-6000 worth of damage and we had to total the car out. I miss that car to this day. Not one complaint about it on my days of driving it. Honestly I loved the old hot rod style as many modern cars today all have a similar style making the PT Cruiser stand out more in today's era

My dad had a silver PT show car with purple color shift flames back in the day. My favorite car we had in the family. :) We ACTUALLY cruised with it and listened to surf music with the PT Cruiser Club. Being a kid then was cool even if the cars were dorky. Ours was lowered, had factory chrome alloy 5 spoke(anodized center cap) rims, K&N cold air, and chrome taillights. It wasn’t fancy or fast but it was cool for a giant Dodge Neon! Lol 😎🤩 long live the PT Cruiser.

Then they made 5 million of them. 🤣 I needed a car and it was only 1200 with 60k on it. Fits my 10ft kayak from windshield to hatch. So it will do until I get something else. 30k miles a year so I can't complain. But yes it's a gay car.

I definitely get a few ppl telling me they once owned one and older folk then to like them they most. I like the fact it’s a four door and short in length. Easy to find parking. The fact the horse power is low works towards my benefit bc it prevents me from driving like any other young parent. Too fast. For no reason. Love the retro look. Wish it was above 200hp though. Yes I’m aware there’s a gr model. And it’s sweet.
