To get the most out of your Vicks Mini Filter Free Cool Mist Humidifier, follow these helpful steps.
Make sure your humidifier is on a firm, level, water resistant surface at least twelve inches from the wall.
To fill the water tank, remove the tank from its base using the handle.
Turn the arrow towards the open lock symbol to remove the cap and fill the tank with cool water.
Make sure that the black cap seal is on and secure the cap by twisting it firmly into the lock position.
Set the tank back on the base.
Be sure your humidifier is turned off before plugging it in.
Then turn the power knob to the highest setting and let it run until a comfortable humidity level has been reached.
Once reached, turn the control knob to a lower setting.
Your ideal humidity level should be between 40 and 60%.
Be sure to direct the mist output away from any walls, furniture or bedding.
To use Vicks VapoPads open the scent pad door.
Insert the VapoPad, and then shut the door for hours of soothing menthol vapors.

I bought this little thing about 2 weeks ago and I like it so far! My old one was the Equate and I had it for a year but I had to replace that thing twice TWICE because it stopped working, I literally took care of that thing like if it was a baby and it still gave out on me 😒 so I returned it and got another one. I had that one for ANOTHER year and it did somewhat justice (even though it was a bit of a hassle to clean up. I didn’t mind buying the filter pads but I rather have a filter free tbh) so I got curious and bought this one and it’s working really good so far! It makes this bubbly noise and I love it (because I sleep with sound 😂) I saw some reviews about some troubles about leaking. So let’s see how it’s going to hold up for me!

My original intention for this humidifier was to use it for plants that require high moisture levels. After using it in my room, czcams.com/users/postUgkxtD9aJ2m6GU-X1IChQxjn9l31K1A7Kpwj however, I think that's where it is going to stay in the fall and winter season at least. The increased humidity in my room made the room warmer and more comfortable. I had first ran the humidifier for 4 hours with the timer setting for it. After the first hour, I checked my room and can feel the difference. When the full 4 hours was up, I checked again and noticed that the humidifier was shut off as it is suppose to. The moisture level never seem to get passed 56/57%. I then let it run until all the water is used up, which it wasn't all used up. There are still some left in the base that you are not suppose to add water to. I filled up the water tank all the way again, being careful when removing it from the base. Some left over water may spill out. After putting it back on and setting the unit to auto, I let it operate. It didn't stop running, rather I don't know if it did at any point since I didn't check it regularly, for 24 hours after which the water in the tank ran out. The moisture reading never passed 56/57%, which may be a good thing for me. Being situated right next to my bed, the noise was not very noticeable with the occasional water gurgle from time to time as the unit ran.

The cleaning instructions say that for disinfecting, we should add bleach and water to the water tank and then reassemble, and that this will disinfect everything. I don't see how this will disinfect the path leading upwards from the base to the mist outlet. This where we seem to have red stuff growing, not in the base or tank. Any suggestions? Do we need to use a toothbrush dipped in the bleach solution?

    • @vickshumidifiersthermomete2655
      @vickshumidifiersthermomete2655  Před 2 lety +1

We will be happy to assist you. If you are looking to clean in the mist outlet as well, as would advise taking a brush and dipping it in the bleach solution and using the brush to distribute it. Or, you can take some of the solution, after it has sat in the unit or if you make more than the 1/2 gallon, turning the tank upside down in a tub or sink, and slowly pouring the solution into that hole, making sure to coat all around the tube, if you are finding you need to clean that area too. If you have any other questions, please email our support team at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com.

Same issue...there is no way a toothbrush fits in that small hole. Even when I follow instructions to disinfect, I still have black crud in tank and base that I try to wipe off by hand afterwards. I can never get all of it off either, since tank has such a small opening and so many crevices that I cannot reach. I wish the white top came off...

I cant imagine my child or household breathing in this red gunk (fungus). I will have to throw it away. What a waste just because it not cleanable.

    • @jmljnyc
      @jmljnyc Před 3 lety +1

I have the same problem and am very disappointed that the part of the humidifier cannot be cleaned very easily or that Vicks doesn’t post a solution. I can tell you what I do with the caveat that it could cause damage to the humidifier, so use this solution at your own risk. I rather try my best to clean out where the mist comes out then have the humidifier blow mist with pink mold.
Step 1 - Tape the hole where the mist comes out. Because of the curves, I always have a slight leak.
Step 2 - Turn over and pour a tiny bit of vinegar (about a tablespoon) down the inner spout. Fill up with water. Let soak for a few minutes. I usually let it soak until it drips out through the tape I use.
Step 3 - Remove tape from hole and rinse inner spout out with warm water.
Step 4 - Retape hole where mist comes out.
Step 5 - Put a capful or teaspoon of bleach down spout. Fill up with warm/hot water (not boiling water or hot enough to burn you). Let soak for a few minutes.
Step 6 - Remove tape and rinse spout with water similar in temperature in step 5.
Step 7 - Let air dry
I usually rinse long enough to get rid of the vinegar and bleach smell.
      Hope this helps.

Hello, thank you for your inquiry. We recommend to clean the unit on a weekly basis with a 2 part process.
      Part 1:
      Descaling
      1. Please make sure the unit is turned off and unplugged.
      2. Remove and empty water from the tank and then empty the base of the unit into your sink.
      3. Fill the base with undiluted white vinegar (just enough to cover the nebulizer) and let it soak for at least 20 minutes. If you see a strong mineral build up, you may want to let it soak longer.
      4. While the nebulizer is soaking in vinegar, take a cotton swab and wipe around the nebulizer to remove the mineral deposits.
      5. Empty the vinegar and rinse the base with water.
      6. Please do not run the unit with the vinegar in it.
      Part 2:
      Disinfecting
      1. Add 1/2 tsp to 1.2 gallon of water in the tank. Place tank cap on to the tank and swish around, then place the tank onto the base. The solution will then begin to empty from the tank into the base. Place tank cap on to the tank and swish around, then place the tank onto the base. The solution ill then begin to empty from the tank into the base, allow it to soak for 20 minutes and then rinse until the smell of bleach is gone.
Descaling and disinfecting must be done separately as we can not recommend the mixture of vinegar and bleach. If you have any further questions, please contact us by emailing SocialSupport@HelenOfTroy.com. Thank you.

Hey Nate & Ally. Initially when using a unit, it can take a seemingly long time for the humidity level in the room to rise. The reason for this is that your unit is constantly trying to push moisture into an extremely dry environment. Everything in that environment (walls, floors, furniture, carpet, etc...) is absorbing this moisture. Only when all the objects in the environment are saturated, will the water from the humidifier stay in the air. You may wish to invest in a hygrometer to monitor the humidity level in your room. We hope this is helpful! If you require additional assistance, please reach out to us at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com.

My VUL520 humidifier leaked on a couple of occasions into it's own electronics directly below the tank. This would leave a huge damaging mess of water as it leaked throughout the night. Now just lastnight my humidifier literally exploded and there is still an electric smell in the air as I write this. We hope this information was helpful to you. If you require additional assistance, please contact us by emailing SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com.

We will be happy to provide that information Katherine. We have updated the VUL520 so that newer unit shave an Essential Oil Tray. Please make sure that when you purchase a new unit, if you wish to use essential oils, that you purchase one with the essential oil tray. Do not use essential oils in this unit if it does not have the tray. If you have any other questions, please email our support team at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com.

We will be happy to assist you. This could be because of the humidity level of your house. This unit has a relative humidistat, and the low settings may be below the current humidity in the area it has been placed. Please email our support team at SocialSupport@helenoftroy.com and we will be happy to look into this and help make it right.
