I've owned a scout 800 for 22 years. I've gone to numerous Scout shows. One thing I can guarantee you is those hood struts will ruin your hood. I can't think of a single 800 that doesn't have a tweaked hood from the struts. It will eventually bend the hood at the support the strut is mounted to. I don't have them on mine. Your Scout is a BEAST.
Now I gotta go find the other parts of this video series. Thanks for posting.
Take care.
HAHA!! Like Fred said below - you are NOT alone! Embrace all the "where is it" moments. Love the stance Levi - can't wait to see it when I swing by, it's gone through quite the transformation since the last time I was there. Tell everyone I said hey..
Last year I was looking into installing EB flares on my SII, I forgot about it then your video popped up, how awesome is that! So stoked on like minded Scout people who wheel their rigs. Good tip on using fronts on the rears, thank you. Keep up the good work….ihscoutjoe
Awesome!! Thanks for watching!!
You mentioned at around 2:00 using trickery and screw placement. Couldn't find it in the video, kind of like your screw driver trickery lol, did you show/explain how and I'm just not getting it (not uncommon for me haha)?
Sorry no I didn't show specifically that part. Basically you just use screw placement to flatten the bump out of it as much as you can and then you can further flatten it with a heat gun if you desire. Thanks for watching!!
Thanks for starting off with the clip of “can’t find the damn thing I just had in my hand” glad I’m not the only one
Thanks for confirming I may not be completely losing my mind...
I don't know about you, but I definitely have some kinda early onset thingy.... Anyway.... I have a 1960's era c series truck, just put Chevy axles under it. Thinking about crossover/high steer application. Do I have to re orient my power steering box or get a box that has a vertical vs horizontal shaft in order to get the pitman arm angle right for the steering linkage?
Not sure what box you currently have but for crossover you are going to want a box that swings side to side instead of front to back
@@OldIronOffroad Thanks, I figured it out after talking to the guys at IH parts america. And you're correct about how the box orients as well as the type of box.
Hey Levi, love your work! My son and I are building a 62 scout 80. We want to run a full width gm dana 44/ dodge dana 60. 37" or bigger. Planned on doing the cpt reversal, and going to 2.5" wide leafs. I have no clue what kind/ size springs and shackles to use though. The stance on big bird looks great, what springs and shackles did you use or what would you recommend?
I used stock wagoner springs in the front with add a leafs and for Ranger springs in the rear with add a leafs.
@OldIronOffroad Thank you for the reply!! I'm not familiar with add a leafs. Are they just a universal 2.5 wide leaf or specific to the leaf package. Any info would be greatly appreciated. We just finished installing the springs and sat it back on rollers. Keep up the great work!
What’s the wms to wms measurement in the axles? And what backspace are you running on the wheels. Stance looks great. What I am hoping for on my 80, except running a driver drop superduty 60
Rear is 58.5 was and front is 62. 4 inch backspacing on the wheels. Trying to keep everything tucked in as tight as possible on this one.
What axels do you have on that 800? Do they make smaller flare kits in that style for 33’s? I have a 70 800A that I am trying to take to the next level. Great videos.
Narrowed dana 60 front and Rock Jock dana 60 rear. You could probably move these around and make them work for your application. Thanks for watching!!
The flares look great. Did you have any fitment issues with the rear gas caps?
We are using a CJ tank and filler on this one. The holes in the quarters will get filled.
@@OldIronOffroad ah, well done!
