Regarding fuel in the oil, I have a12v p-pump Cummins that I had purchased with an unknown history. It had a miss and while diagnosing it, I found that a barrel in the IP had broken in half because of a clogged injector. I had run it a little prior to purchase and there was about a gallon of fuel in the oil when I drained it. I immediately pulled the oil pan and checked all of the main and connecting rod bearings and they looked new, even with 200,000+ miles on it. I also plastigaged it and the clearances were fine. I've been driving it since then and have put roughly 40,000 miles on it. I got VERY lucky because I caught it in time.

I can't tell you how many times I've seen LB7s where the customer decided they would DIY their injectors and they re use the return lines and they dont change the sealing washers hell last year I bought a crew cab 04 4x4 with a freshly rebuilt engine that was purchased from a local guy that is a very reputable engine builder and the guy had spent everything on the engine it was getting fuel in the oil he thought it was the injectors so he got scared and I picked it up for 6 grand I did a dye test running with the valve covers off big surprise the return lines were leaking so I have $6,085 in a crew cab cateye lifted and a rebuilt engine because the guy that installed the engine was an idiot
