  • A quick look at another project I've decided to undertake. Whilst looking around for a decent used mig welder, I stumbled upon a surplus auction for a non working Millermatic 250 from a voc tech high school, and decided to take a chance.

    I paid $1800.00 for mine ready to use. $50 bucks was a freaking steal on that unit. All the hardware it needs to run is still costly, but you got the heart of the unit at a very good price.

    Hi Steve I don't know if you have heard of the company www.usaweld.com they have that Miller M25 gun in a 15ft for about $160.00, if you can get the rest working cheap.they have all kinds of other goodies for welders to. I got them to ship me a gun for my old Sealey 150 here in Canada, They were real helpful as my welder was for the English market, and we had to do some figuring out what would work. It was well worth it how well my welder works now, the old gun wasn't right for 15 years.

      Thanks. I just saw an original Miller m25 in new condition sell on eBay for around $150. But I want to do some more tests before buying a gun, so I passed on that one.

    Which segment addresses the fix for the burn back issue that plagues this model? Thanks

    • @stevewatr
      @stevewatr  Před 7 lety

      Dan Phenicie hello. I haven't done a video on this yet, but the well documented burn back issue on this model occurs because this is a "hot start" machine. It has full voltage at the tip on arc start, regardless what the settings are. There is a diode you clip to disable hot start, but Miller suggests installing a switch so it can be turned on again, for larger wire sizes.
