  • Are you having problems with your Sonos and Alexa integration? In this video I'm going to talk about the common problems that I've encountered with Sonos and Alexa integration. I'll also discuss some common solutions. If you're having problems getting Sonos and Alexa to play nice, this is the video for you.
    Common Problems:
    1) Naming your sonos devices with similar name as your smart devices.
    2) Naming your sonos one with similar name as your smart devices.
    3) Testing sonos one and amazon echo in the same room.

    Simple fix... don't do all that de-activate stuff. Simply delete Sonos skill in Alexa app & then add it.

    I can’t name my Sonos “Sonos living room” because it’s past the character name!!!! Did Sonos not think about this? Why would they limit it

    just bought a sonos move. I can play amazon music form the sonos app, but if I ask the built in Alexa to play a certain song, it announces it, but then nothing happens on the speaker. So I can play music but not using the built in Alexa. No issues using built in Aleza to paly other streaming services like iheart radio or xm radio, just issue playing amazon music

    I’m selling my Sonos One. It’s very lame that they will not allow multi room music with echos and Sonos. You have to have all Sonos or echos. You can’t have one room with a Sonos and/or echo and play music. It will just play music from the echo and not the Sonos. Get the Amazon Echo Studio. Your spending the same but a bit better sound from the studio and you can multi room music with your other echos.

      Yes, I've discovered there are skills that work poorly or outright don't work at all on the Sonos One. Hopefully Sonos will continue to improve the integration and support more skills in the future.

    Can I play music (the same channel or playlist) BOTH through my Amazon Alexa and my Sonos speakers? I have 3 Sonos speakers placed all around our great room and it would be cool if Alexa acted as a speaker too, to add to the surround sound-type experience. She works great to control the music but I want her to play along too!

    The duplicate name issue is not specific to Sonos, it exists across the entire Alexa smart home environment.

    is it possible to pair sonos play 1 with sonos one . If yes then how do we do it ? I would like to listen to music coming from both the speakers in the same room.

    • @SamyKsd
      @SamyKsd  Před 6 lety

      Dean Mandal no you can’t pair a play 1 and a sonos one as a stereo pair. What you can do is create a group in your alexa app that includes both speaker and then ask Alexa to play music to that group, but it wouldn’t be a true stereo pair.

    I have a sonos one in my living room. Very pleased with it but now and again Alexa randomly talks to you when the tv is on. (Alexa hasn’t been said)

      That's funny and scary because I've had the same thing happen to me multiple times.

      Samy Ksd makes you just out your skin. Watching football then Alexa tells you the weather forecast.

    Great video. Convinced me not to buy Sonos. I was a Windows user for 25 years and moved to Apple. I refuse to have to spend that much time getting stuff to work.

      Thanks Joe, glad the video was helpful and thanks for taking the time to comment. Yes the Sonos/Alexa setup can be a horrible experience if things go wrong.

    You know how annoying it is when you have echo devices around and you continually say Alexa.

    • @SamyKsd
      @SamyKsd  Před 6 lety

      haha yah it's pretty annoying, but I think it's less annoying than remember to say "Hey" before "Google".
