    Thank you for this. The quality is great. This is one match I think Venus figured out Hingis.

      And, she beat her again at the US-open and won the whole thing as well, how great was that.

    Even though Venus won, you can clearly see what an absolute genius Hingis was, however no one comes close to the greatness of Serena.

    Anyone else notice how different Venus take back on her backhand is? Its higher than usual here.

      Yes, I did. I never saw her do that in any other tournament than Wimbledon in 2000. It's a bit odd.

    I think this was the first time Venus actually beat Hingis. I remember these classic matches. Hoping that if Venus didn't beat her maybe Serena would. This was a great era of women tennis! Hingis taught Venus how to play tennis!

      @POObumpoopo Před 4 lety +9

      The first time she beat her in a slam, yes. She had already beaten her 5 times, but kept falling to her in the slams (Venus has said that the '99 US Open SF loss to Hingis was the most painful in her career).

    • @pamelaphillips4216
      @pamelaphillips4216 Před 3 lety +3

      Hingis did not teach Venus how to play. Absurd. Hingis was a coke head.

      @@POObumpoopo so she had to learn how to beat her in the finals... You just made my point. Thanks

    Hingis was an incredibly smart player unfortunately she got in her own way

    • @ricfogg
      @ricfogg Před 2 lety

      She was a smart player. But her issue was not that she got in her own way. It was rather that the sport changed right underneath her and she got bullied off the court by the more powerful players. Had Hingis played during the Evert/Navratilova era, she would have won every tournament she entered by outsmarting the field. But the Williams sisters introduced brute force in tennis and Hingis just couldn't keep up.
