I was surprised when you guys pulled out a COBB tuner. I thought as always it would’ve been something among the lines of “we called up our friends at Haltech and they made us this $2,000 Elite just for us.”
If that focus is like most new cars, the ecu controls everything, including the antitheft, shifting, awd, seat heaters and windows. Haltech can't do this yet.
most new cars have multiple ECU's that control different systems, such as a body control module for things like seat heaters, locks, radio etc. and then one for the engine, gearbox, airbags and so on.

You missed the correct tune. Lower on the list was the custom tune from Mountune .

So no ones saying it. Guys. You installed the wrong tune. Stage 1 is an off the shelf map from Cobb. The tunes at the bottom of your map list is your mountune tune. You need that one for max fast. Go on your accessport, change map, go to the bottom of the list and find the correct map name, and go from there

Was the right tune installed? Looked like Mountune had their own map on the accessport on the bottom of the list for the car, but they installed an off the shelf map.

I'm waiting on my bank to give me check to get a 2016 used RS. I'm excited to go get it. It has a few things added on by the previous owner. Drove it and fell in love with it the first mash and felt that boost kick in. It's insanely fast.
I currently own an ST and I love that car, and these videos have just made me want to buy an RS even more. This is easily one of Ford's best cars ever built.
My local Ford dealer had one in late 2016, I decided 12k less for a brand new mustang GT out of the showroom was a better buy.
I guess AWD is expensive.

dyno mode sounds like a bit of a good way to cheat power numbers
inflate numbers because it doesn't count the parasitic lose of the awd system

That's exactly what it is. Like vw emissions.
Its becuase the center diff overheats and esplodes when you try to do pulls on unlinked awd dynos. Most shops would drop the rear driveshaft

lol I know. Then immediately after they start talking about dropping in a bigger turbo. Shit the RS will crack the block between cylinders 1, 2 and 3, 4 even with the stock turbo. It's not the power that kills the block though, it's the torque. Once it goes over 400 ft lbs it's only a matter of time before you crack a cylinder wall or the block.

He definitely loaded the wrong tune which is insanely dangerous. On Subarus that equals blown engines.
Yeah, he loaded the Stage 1 93octane tune. Nothing should happen unless they're using bad gas.
The EJ25 in an STI is not open deck, although the NA ones probably are.

It looks like you guys loaded a Cobb OTS map and not the custom mountune map that was at the bottom.
and per COBBs stages, they should've loaded the Stage 3 map.

I agree with Marty when he talks about the throttle and the turbos spooling up. That is why I love turbo engines so much on a mountain road, you need to not only prepare the car for braking and turning but also for accelerating. In an NA you just need to apply the throttle, in a turbo you need to spool-up the turbo (more often than not that involves accelerating while left-foot braking to hold speed) and let the turbo spool-up so when you need the boost, you have it already built up

Marty is that a challenge I just heard at the end!?! I am a gramps owner (not super) and would love to see you crush the focus dreamers out there!
From what I've heard the open deck isn't the source of the head gasket troubles, its something to do with restricted airflow on the exhaust side of the turbo causing enough back pressure to allow hot exhaust gas to get back into the cylinder during valve overlap which then causes knock (air in cylinder too hot during compression stroke causing fuel to auto ignite as soon as it is injected). Apparently the issue mainly seems to occur when the boost is raised too high with the stock turbo, with a bigger, smoother flowing turbo the problem seems not to occur
Everyone is complaining about the head gasket but there is a bigger problem with the engine, on the third cylinder it can crack due to insufficient material thickness on one side, cracks start in one of the studs for the head of the engine. See how it develops in the future.

Sorry, but.... NO before any mod's run? I mean before the filter, intercooler, etc for a mechanical base line - using the same wheels/tyres/pressures should negate their effect over the OEM nominal figures.
Seems there is an issue with overheating rear diff'assemblies under hard, sustained abuse - even on stock cars - and, as some parts of the country over there can hit 40+C with even higher track temp's, it may be a good idea to check out coolers for it.
Oh, the engine uses a weird-as(s) exhaust where the outer two ports run through the head and the centre pair are siamesed for a total of 3 outlets and that may be contributing to known problems with detonation damaged pistons with increased boost.

Just traded my Hellcat challenger for a new Focus RS. Absolutely love this car! It’s a whole different kind of fun compared to the Hellcat. From 0-30 this thing rockets way quicker than the Hellcat, but after that, it isn’t a Hellcat, but it’s quick enough. Love it love it love it. Take a turn with so much confidence.

What if the Dyno mode is actually to pass an emissions test. Remember the Volkswagen diesels?
Pretty sure its to keep the RDU from overheating, it has problems on a road course, so I'm guessing it wouldn't love sitting on a dyno with very little air flow either.
Its not an awd dyno so it will fuck up the drive shaft

Might have also been discussed, but the mounting tune is custom, meaning that to really get the right final results you need to do a couple back and forth emails. You drive on their tune for a couple days, and then send a log file of a pull and email it to Mountune. From there they make adjustments, and send you a new tune. This happens a couple times until you get a tune that takes full advantage of your mods but is still safe. I didn't dyno my Fiesta on my stock tune OR my finished version, but I know that I am making more power on my v.3 mountune tune vs my v.0 tune. (the one they send you when you first pay)

I was wondering how you were gonna tune the factory ecu but you pulled out the Cobb APV3. I'm excited to see you guys going with the Cobb APV3 instead of a haltech ecu. I use the APV3 for my STI and it's bolt on mods and it's great to see you guys using it's potential for your Focus RS!

For the big turbo check stratified auto. They sell a precision turbo solution that is integrated into an oem housing. Also check out full blown motorsports if you want to go garrett route and are willing to spend some coin.
