  • Fleming answered the needs of owner-operators who may have a large family but also want to take extended cruises - and want only the best that money can buy. The 78 can transition from entertaining to long passages seamlessly.

    Beautiful, tastefully done. Perfect to hop scotch across the pacific from California and spend the summer in Tassie.

    Lovely boat, BUT
    I really don't get America's obsession with TV.
    Fancy owning a boat like this, putting to sea, and watching TV.
    Incidentally, I am owned by a BERTRAM 46, and the first thing I did was get rid of the TV and sound system.
    Guess what? NOBODY has ever said "WHERE'S THE TV?"

    I'm thinking Fleming is now by dream boat! As a retired guy that watches a lot of videos, Fleming seems to check off all the boxes!

      I have an ancient Bertram 46, which I use for fishing.
      But age is catching up with both me AND the boat.
      This looks like a perfect solution.

    Although the interior was classic and somewhat minimal,I like it over the Beverley Hills plastic surgeons office or sleazy Vegas suite look!

    I've been watching BoatTEST reviews since the channel began. Captain Steve should be allowed to express his personal opinion: he's the reviewer. In the past when he has waxed lyrical about fit and finish and expressed why, I have paid close attention due to his expertise as a reviewer (he's the best I've seen on CZcams to date) and his decades of experience as a yachtsman. I value his opinion highly and he affects my buying decisions. Allow him free reign, BoatTest. If he's critical of something, then we need know and it's a sign that a manufacturer needs to raise its game. If he's complimentary, then that helps us too when navigating the boat market (pun not intended).

      Captain Steve is greatest concise reviewer, but if you want the best in-depth (no holds barred) review of a boat it goes to James Knight. Knight says he will be doing some non Nordhavn reviews, and his 60 to 90 minute reviews are the best on the internet.

  • @markowsley4954
    @markowsley4954 Před 2 lety +4

    Great review as usual. I realize the owner makes the choices on the interior but it has way too much wood for my taste. I agree with another comment that the second access to the master stateroom is a waste of space. Also on a vessel this size and price the beds should be standard house size especially in length. That short king in the master wouldn't work. The grab rail in the saloon is a nice idea but for many passengers it's not usable as it's too high. I love the exterior lines of a Fleming but if I had this kinda money I would lean heavily to the Bering 77. It seems to have more bang for the buck.

    • @jeffwhitelock1013
      @jeffwhitelock1013 Před 2 lety +3

      Yeah I agree, but most people use flemming as a coastal cruiser an its semi displacement hull. Bering is full displacement. Flemming can top out at like 22 knots. If your doing real ocean crossing of course the bering would be my choice an it has regular bed sizes. Bering has come a very long way since I've seen the first 65 almost 6-7 years ago. Nautiy styles has a full 2 part hour & half on the bering 77 that boats insane. I agree about the interior too!

    • @alastairharris1866
      @alastairharris1866 Před rokem

      I am also not a fan of too much wood, but I guess that is choice. A standard super king bed UK is 72 x78, so its 2 inches shorter. I guess if you don't fit the bed at least you can use the grab rails!
      What I like about this boat is looks, layout and redundancy. I really love the bridge! It is built for exploration - as you can see by following Venture.

    A truly lovely boat, but I wondered why the decor wasn't really grabbing me. I think it's because of the acres of shiny wood, like looking at wet caramel. It is calling out for some cool scandi design touches.

    I can clearly see the difference in ownership of Fleming Yachts.not nearly as nice as when Tony Fleming was in charge.missing is the beautiful solid teak 5 panel cabinets and the curved solid doors with gaskets.ie.M/V On Leave(you tube video) wondering about all I can’t see!! And there more expensive.I don’t like the change.it was what set the Fleming apart.now looks like any other yacht on the inside.
