Restaurant employees turn to TMJ4 after claiming they are not being paid

- Last week, an anonymous tip came into TMJ4's newsroom about a situation unfolding at Jake's Restaurant in Brookfield. The tip said that employee's paychecks were bouncing when they deposited them, and that the state had come and shut the restaurant down.
On Wednesday, June 19th, Jenna Rae went to Jake's. A sign on the door said it was closed for maintenance. Rae knocked anyways.
The general manager opened the door and said the owner wasn't there. Rae left her card for the owner to call her, but never heard from him.
Today, we talked with three employees who said their paychecks have bounced more than once, and they want their money.
The employees from Jake's Restaurant wanted to protect their identities by being anonymous.
"They bounced right when we have to pay our bills. We have to pay our rent and stuff," employee one said.

Back in the 80s, La Petite France as it was failing, tried to pull this no-pay stunt. The owner found himself surrounded by a very angry kitchen staff and ended up paying us all cash. Restaurant owners are assholes.
When you pay your staff a slave wage you just see them as slaves and treat them as such
When the first check bounces RUN don't walk as fast as you can
Cash checks at the bank they're drawn on.... never deposit them into your account! 😊

Oh would you look at that, a restaurant owner not paying their employees a fair wage... or a wage at all.
This is why need to end tip wages, and increase IRS funding. So many small business owners are corrupt as fuck. They just hide behind the "I am a local business" innocent mask, and people will bend over backwards for them, and not realizing they are fucking over their 5 other neighbors and themselves.

Business owners especially Restaurants are susceptible to economic downturns. Exactly why Banks don’t borrow to Restaurants unless well funded.
