    Its an awesome machine. I couldve gone for the Di2 version but it came with lesser quality wheelset, and at the end of the day, Di2 isnt going to make me any faster, whereas a wheelset may possibly help maintain higher speeds over 20mph, or is that marketing BS??!!! :-)

      Great I'll keep an eye out, and yes, I'll let you know what I think! Did yours come with any other bits other than the ridesense sensor? Just want to make sure the shop don't miss anything out :-D

      Along with the bike you should get two bottles of tyre sealant, tyre levers, ridesense, small helicopter tape patches and that's probably about it. Tredz gave me nice little bag along with a multitool which isn't the lightest but it's definitely useful. they also threw in a pedal spanner.
      You'll also get all the usual booklets and guides etc.

    Nice review, I've just had my first ride on my 2017 Advanced pro 1, same as yours in orange finish & with ultegra. My first carbon bike & absolutely love it, light, fast & powerful. I have had a few minor issues with Tredz tho, including both wheels out of true on delivery, but they've been very keen to sort out any & all problems so can't criticise them for lack of interest. Looking forward to a follow up review, happy riding mate

      Steven Goldburn I was very impressed with Tredz. Sorry to hear about your problems. I wanted to go for the pro 1 but preferred the Black/Blue paint job!
      Enjoy setting those PRs and KOMS on it mate 👍

    Just a quick one how you find the wheels in the wet? I have heard the wheels when used with the correct pads should be good for braking in the wet
    Have you any feedback?

    Nice video, MG! Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this bike. I've been looking at this bike for a few days, and I hope I'll purchase mine tomorrow!
    Did your bike include both the valves and sealant for the tubeless conversion, o was it something that the shop gave you?
    I hope you enjoy that sweet ride, man!

      RGCastro7 it all came with the bike mate. Tredz even give you a bag and multitool and afew other bits and pieces. it also comes with the giant ridesense cadence sensor. (forgot to mention that in the video!) it's a lovely bike to ride and am very happy with it 👍

    Wonderful looking bike I am looking into getting one of these or the TCR I'm torn between the two I am not really a climber but I occasionally do climbing days. I will never win a climbing stage so having the lightest climbing bike isn't a big deal for me. I definitely like sprinting more on the flats and doing distance into lock headwind. Are you still liking this bike as I am looking at a 2016 model at the moment thank you

      @MGVELO  Před 7 lety +1

      Kevin Barnes Yes Kevin I would thoroughly recommend it. done over a thousand miles on her now and have to say she's a keeper!
      Specialized are quality bikes to, I was wanting a venge but at the prices they go for I'd have had to blow another £1k ontop for a decent wheelset.

      MG Velo ye they're very overpriced I have my heart set on the propel a long time now wanted to get a few opinions from people who've owned them. I reckon I'll buy one in the next few weeks. Appreciate you getting back to me pal thank you

      Have the propel adv 2 myself just watch size as they are a big bike I had a trek 1.1 size 58 (virtual top tube 56cm) was debating size and went for ML which was perfect 6.1 height

    • @MGVELO
      @MGVELO  Před 7 lety +2

      Pj Aherne I agree. I kind of wished I'd gone for a size small rather than medium and I'm 5ft 9 in. whether it would have been comfortable on long rides is questionable though. Am going to do a follow up review soon.
      Stay posted.

    I'm having difficulty deciding between propel and tcr. I enjoy springing in a bunch and long solo rides. I live in Hawaii and it's windy here. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    • @MGVELO
      @MGVELO  Před 6 lety

      Hey! I think the TCR is a tiny bit more forgiving in terms of stiffness so is suited to long distance riding. The propel suits me. Im 82kg so not a lightweight guy and prefer the stiff frame of the propel. I've done 7hour rides on mine and it's great. The wheels can catch the wind a little but if you're ready and expecting it, it's not so bad.

  • @The1mars1
    @The1mars1 Před 7 lety

    Great video review Matt.
    I have to agree that cable management is bit awkward on Propel. Other than that, bike looks amazing and comes with great spec.
    I ride on Canyon Aeroad CF SLX 7.0 and deciding on my 2nd bike.
    My choice would be Giant Propel but with Ultegra DI2, or Planet X EC-130E.
    Enjoy your rides!
    Best

    • @MGVELO
      @MGVELO  Před 7 lety

      Thank you Mauriusz. Yes Propel with electronic shifting would be a good option. Planet X EC aero looks a nice bike too, ive not ridden one but seen afew up close, they seem good value for money.

      Hi!
      I cannot decide, whether I should go with the Giant Propel Advanced Pro (2020) or the Canyon Aerod CF SL 8.0.... 🤷🏻‍♂️
      Comfortwise as you were riding both bikes, can you tell me something about it?
      Most of the times I am riding not more than 3hrs...
      Thanks,
      Stefan

    Hey MG, I am a collegiate racer in need of a new bike. We are on the northwest coast and we deal with all courses having some hills but also some with fairly straight sections. How does this bike climb? Would you recommend the Propel over the TCR? I am looking to get the disc version here soon, but I am really at a crossroads here. Any help would be so appreciated!!

    • @MGVELO
      @MGVELO  Před 6 lety

      Seth Peterson if I'm honest, it's not a lightweight bike. I've not weighed it but I think it's more than my old defy. I'm not into buying the lightest stuff as I'm 82kg and need to lose weight myself before worrying about weight of the bike.
      It climbs well due to its stiffness. Would it suit lighter riders? I'm not sure? For an all round bike and if you're a lightweight guy I'd go with the TCR purely as it will be lighter and probably suit you better.

    Looks great. Not many reviews on Propel out there, so it's nice to watch one and hear your thoughts. Could you write, what's the size of the frame? I think it's M, but not 100% sure.
    Hopefully I'll be riding my own Propel sometime this year... Trying to be patient :)

      Wiktor N Yes sorry, that's a very good point. It is a MEDIUM and I'm 5ft 9in with 32in leg. seems about right for me. I'd have to swap the stem for a shorter one for using clip on TT bars though.

      @egemailme Před 7 lety

      MG Velo Hi, I'm also 5'9 with a 32 inseam, would u think I could get away with a size Small ? Or a size ML ? And just get a longer/shorter stem...My bike shop is out of Medium. Is it a huge jump on those three sizes on the Propel Advance 2??? Would appreciate the advice.

    • @MGVELO
      @MGVELO  Před 7 lety

      Edgar Gutierrez It depends on how you want to ride. I kind of wish I'd gone for a small frame and threw the stem out. ultimately that would've made for a proper race set up but probably not sustainable over long distance which is why I went for the medium to suit me for all types of riding.
      So based on that it depends what type of riding you're doing? if it's just short hard rides then go for the small or if you're able to achieve a comfy position despite it being a bit more squat then you may be fine for all types of riding. Keep us posted with what you go for. 👍

    I have the same bike but for some reason, my brake cable are very close to tires. How did you get your so far away from your tires?

    • @MGVELO
      @MGVELO  Před 6 lety

      Paul Ilunga I think older versions had that problem and the 2017 models onwards had a design change to accommodate bigger tyres. I've heard the fouriers brakes are a good upgrade and sorts that problem out 👍

    Nice bike. How's the comfort?

    • @MGVELO
      @MGVELO  Před 7 lety +1

      WH C comfort is bang on. Going from what I'd describe as a flexy defy composite bike, this is by far stiffer. I always use 120psi in my tyres however these tubeless seem to deflate and stay around 85 psi which adds to the comfort but I can see my going back to my trusty conti gp4000s tyres just to hold the pressure and give me that firmer ride which I prefer. For a race bike it's a good comfortable all day rider I think. A very versatile bike 👍

      @MGVELO  Před 6 lety

      Andy Windsor pretty sure the 0 is Di2 or maybe etap. Not 100% sure but the spec will be better and have slr 0 wheels instead of slr 1 wheels.

  • @koukimonzta

    Hows the climbing?

    • @MGVELO
      @MGVELO  Před 7 lety

      koukimonzta In my opinion it climbs really well. The fact that it's stiff really helps transfer the power. To compare stiffness to my defy, the defy is ridiculously spongy and every climb I've done on my Propel I have been faster than on my defy and that's good enough for me 😁
