2017 Giant Propel Advanced Pro 2 REVIEW

Sorry for the poor audio! Leave any comments and questions below and ill happily help out! Its an awesome machine. I couldve gone for the Di2 version but it came with lesser quality wheelset, and at the end of the day, Di2 isnt going to make me any faster, whereas a wheelset may possibly help maintain higher speeds over 20mph, or is that marketing BS??!!! :-) Follow me on Strava.... Unfortunately these shoes aren't for me. I have slightly wider than average feet and these just weren't comfortable which is a real shame as I think they look nice and unique compared to the likes of Sidis and S Works etc. I will do a follow up video of my S works Sub 6 shoes once they arrive.

Hi, can someone help me with this? One of the cable guide for the shifter fell off inside the frame😢
Immediately worked. Class.
I have a stage potentiometer for MTB which is recognized by my Garmin computer and also by the iPhone in the app, but when pedaling it does not show power on the screens, I have changed a new battery, I have calibrated with the app, but nothing happens
In your costs you forgot the costs for the building regs approval
Oh yeah, make the total £1495. A £25 indemnity insurance policy covered it when I sold it years ago 👍🏻
Remember you do not have to use HETAS you can get building regs to sign it off instead
you in trouble when you get puncture. i use this once it hell so hard make tire get in and get out.
I'm sure got dirty 3 hours later
Эти колеса лучше? Или Бора Ультра?
This was extremely helpful! I was getting all worried that I may have to purchase tube liners and all. Thank you so much for sharing!!!
Great job.
Great video. Thanks for sharing your project. What did you stick the firebird with? And which cononay make the boards? Cheers.
Hi, I used Vitcas heatproof adhesive. Normal board adhesive may well work but thought I’d belt and brace it. I’ve literally just done another log burner a few weeks ago in my new house. Throughly enjoyed it yet again. Didn’t photo document it in as much detail this time. I went with a Portway Arundel XL stove. It has a huge viewing window and more Morden than the previous Stockton 4. Best of luck 👍🏻
I see you pit a lintel in. Did it not have one? Strange if it didn’t
It had an arch. I believe it had one above. I put a lintel in purely for levelling off square plus it added a bit more strength not that it needed it. I’ve moved house now and am going to be doing another install on our new house in a couple of months time that’s around 18-20years old which is likely to have its own problems to overcome 👍🏻
@@MGVELO thanks for that. Very helpful. Good luck with the next one!
@@leeallen8840 cheers Lee
Thanks, this is great and exactly what I'm planning to do. I have also got ridiculous quotes for this (I'm near Brighton) for what looks like less than a days work for a pro and materials that are not that crazy expensive. I already have a chimney ready to go, I just need a stove put in... You say that if you want a proper job doing then its always best to get he professionals round. I don't agree with this. Often "professionals" are in a hurry, cut corners and have sloppy workmanship. An amateur with attention to detail will often do a better job. Many thanks again
what i did was to simply put an electric tape on the inside of the battery cap in order to put little more pressure on the battery against the contact point . . problem likewise solved.
2021 and this is still an issue with the Gen 3. I kept getting dropouts and just weird results and this solved it immediately. Why it this so difficult to fix at the factory? @MG Velo, thank you for solving my problem.
Smooth job , they go up so quick !
I had to fit a tube in one of the Strada Biancas at the roadside in December when I hit a rock and got a puncture that sealant couldn’t fix.. I broke two tyre levers getting the bloody thing back on.
Hello, what ist the weight of these tyre? How is the real width on the rim and what is the inner width of your rim? How is the riding experience?
I have the same setup. What drives me crazy is how uneven the sound is. Another thing.. Have you ever had problem with a tubless tire (tube inside) that does not align perfectly when put on your rims?
Hi! I'm using an Ultegra R8000 crank, and was wondering if these are standard (12-15mm) pods will fit based on thickness. Thank you in advance.
Thanks a lot for sharing !!!
HOW NOT TO INSTALL HANDLEBAR TAPE.
mounting the tubeless ready version of these on ksyrium elite ust rims today... now on hour 2, questioning my life choices, concerned my neighbours are going to think i'm having a heated domestic dispute
The answer is 3 tire levers (plastic ones) and pray not to brake them in the process. Mounted Strada bianca on my rims, lost tone of skin on my fingers, but I know how to do it, and they are losing 0 pressure in tubeless.
Just taped mine. I think it should be ok, I’ll let you know how it is in a few weeks, I ride a lot
Would you have a video or instructions on how you rerouted internally the cable coming out of the hole on the top frame tube and into the and through the stem?
Nice job, great vid.
Definitely worth the effort though.
Thank You so much for this.
Great Video and really useful advice. You did a fantastic job, it looks really neat. Gonna be doing mine in the new year and your vid' has given me the confidence to tackle it myself.
Actually I don’t have that problem but maybe you could help me sorting it. I have StagesPower generation 3, a couple of days ago I changed the batteries and in spite of that yesterday I experienced a serious accuracy problem(less watts) and the balance wasn’t right (65-70 on the left). I’m usually good balanced
Where to order this cinelli gel?
Will this fit an iphone 11? I want it to hold my iphone and car keys.
Thanks worked for me, now just have to figure out how to get the Connect App working
Are these the SLR wheels in 42mm
I’m building a Propel up from the Frameset. Can you do me a favor and look underneath your bottom bracket and tell me if there is a screw holding on the cable guide?
JOey Seabrook I no longer have this bike sorry. I can’t remember if there was or not. Best of luck, they’re awesome machines 👍🏻
I have the same bike and wheels, I probably only have half the loudness of yours? Any idea why
Maybe watch the lizard skins video on how to wrap the bar tape - the figure 8 is the way to go.
Thanks for the review! Just got one from MEC...
so any solution for those who had take out that piece of center piece?
Great colours, nice bike
Hi ,can help to check the below: 1. Spoke neck type 2. Spoke length 3. Nipple type
Immediately worked. Haven't been able to calubrate my stages since I bought my 820, second hand, so I thought it was a computer problem. Had the same problems as you displayed in the video as well. This worked immediately. Was able to calibrate my stages first try and it's stayed connected as well
I am about to change the cables on my propel for the first time and have been searching for what that frame cap on the top tube is. Thanks so much for making this video!
nice sounds
Absolutely brilliant tyres, not as hard to fit as some would have it, it just takes a bit of thought and they are a doddle. Best to fit standard tubes first, leave them on for 24 hours then change to latex, they can then be fitted using hands only. They are fast, climb very well and descend even better, the grip is excellent in both wet and dry conditions and the ride is very supple, without doubt t amongst the very best tyres I have used, expensive but look out for discounts and they are worth every penny.
what about puncture protection? do you get any flats? thanks
@@OVOCNYCHECK Had one flat which, in itself says a lot about these tyres as I have ridden them over every type of terrain with minimal problems They are both tough and fast with outstanding grip in all weather's well worth a look, especially if you can get them for a discount.
Good afternoon, I have problems in the flanks as the zipp wheel cuts them. You had some trouble Which wheels do you use? Greetings
@@obl64 I am using shimano wheels, no trouble at all, sorry to hear that you have had problems, I recommend you try the challenge criterium twenty fives, they should be OK with zipp wheels.
@@karlmylnere5712 thank you very much for answering me I've already used the 25s but it's the same which shimano model do you use? disc, carbon
Ended up drilling out the top cablestop and running continuous housing all the way to rear derailleur. Giant's design is horrendous with way too many bends and friction and introduces extra spring resistance/slop that is close to impossible to overcome. My local Giant mechanic's solution was Di2 - just gave up.
Great video! Can I ask: did you get anything signed off by building control or a HETAS certification for the work? DId the chimney sweep sign anything off? Thanks again- looks ace!
I think we can take that as a no. In Scotland you don’t have to I don’t think.
Great video. I've just done mine. You didn't need a lintle. The arched bricks are the lintle. Looks awesome.
Cheers. I put it in to just square it off as well as offering additional support, though like you say, not needed for that.
@@MGVELO We thought the same but took it up to the arch brick work in the end. . Not sure of the proper name for it.. It's blazing away as I text. Can't beat it on a cold night like this. 👍
eddt430 Great to hear mate. Enjoy and Merry Christmas 👍🏻
Mmmm. Eddt430 - Careful on the assumption that an arch of bricks will be secure. Many years ago when opening up a fireplace in a kitchen the same assumption was made and you have never seen 2 blokes run around so quickly to grab some old joists to shore up the bricks as they started collapsing 😀 They are not expensive - not worth the risk. And make sure you fit them the right way up too.
Hard to find OD 2 stem.
