The hilarious and incredibly talented Jason Alexander (Seinfeld, Pretty Woman) joins this week to discuss his evolution going from an ambitious stage actor to pursuing a comedic career and landing the most popular sitcom of all time, Seinfeld.
Jason and I discuss the stresses and anxiety of working on a Broadway production and how people in that profession have to manage an uber structured and stressful lifestyle.
We also discuss his favorite moments on Seinfeld, the shock of landing Pretty Woman with Richard Greer and Julia Roberts, and what life has been like for his peers and family post-Seinfeld.
Seinfeld’s JASON ALEXANDER: Tricks to Comedy (2021) Inside of You: Michael Rosenbaum #insideofyou #iou - Zábava
Sometimes I randomly wonder if Rosenbaum knows how talented he is. Michael, you are a great actor and a great writer and you are hilarious! Your one of those personalities that someone can just listen to and enjoy. Love hearing your stories from smallville like the ones you’ve told at different conventions, always so funny. Even if the regular person only remembers you from smallville that’s ok because you killed it man. Greatest Lex of all time. A lot of people will only ever remember Jason as George and that’s ok because he did an amazing job and George is probably the funniest sitcom character ever. Don’t ever feel down about something like that. So many people will forever hold you as the greatest at playing one of the biggest comic book characters of all time. We love Rosey!
dude we keep telling him..modesty is his greatest attribute..it comes with empathy
Michael is by far My Favourite lex Luther, not only that I have fond memories of him in urban legend.. but more than all of that he has made on of the finest podcasts on CZcams.. I could literally listen to him talk for hours on end.. such a great human being
This was perfect timing; just finished rewatching the entirety of Seinfeld on Netflix. Costanza is still one of the greatest TV characters ever created.
You can see how genuine he was talking about smallville. Loved this episode
Jason's one of the real nice guys in that business. I don't think there's ever been a tv character that made me laugh more than George Costanza.
Nobody did the walk of defeat like Jason Alexander.
Except maybe Julia copying him
Absolutely loved this. The marine biologist scene from Seinfeld was my favourite comedic moment from any tv show or movie. Michael and Jason also had such a great rapport that it felt like listening to two friends catching up.
.
I'm just rewatching Seinfeld on Netflix so the timing of this pod is immaculate 👍👍
I just had to rewatch the marine biologist story after this, so good
This episode is a true delight. Jason definitely opened up and I enjoyed hearing his behind the scenes stories. A part 2 would be awesome.
Wow! George Costanza!! Can’t believe I have the privilege of getting to know this talented and kind man better = mensch❤️. As always, I am in your gratitude Rosey 🙏. Hope you have a week as amazing as you are💙. See you at both shows on Saturday 🎸🐸. Happiest week everyone!
And we will see him on Thursday through Patreon! :)
@@michelleking8302 It is going to be a very Rosey week 😀💙🌹
I love this interview, Mr Rosenbaum.
You're down to earth approach is great.
Mr Alexander's humility is inspiring.
Thank you from Canada.
Cheers.
I'm 26 now, and have only seen Seinfeld random scenes on cable growing up. But now that it's on Netflix, I'm watching the series from the beginning, and it's actually incredible. Love to see the 80's vibe touching my generation now.
As a fan of both Seinfeld and Smallville, along with both of your personalities and individual works, this was very unexpected treat. What a terrific episode. Thanks gents!
One of my favorite people to listen to in interviews. Such as kind, open, & honest people. He's so lively that it's contagious. Thank you for being so open Jason. And thank you Michael for another great episode.
Wow, what an episode! Without a doubt my favourite episode of the show. I found myself surprised at what a cool guy Jason is and wondered why I wasn’t expecting him to be like that. I then realised that in my head I expected him to be more like the Jason Alexander character in Curb!
Bravo Michael! One of the best interviews yet! I laughed outloud, held back some happy and touching tears - fun! Mr. Alexander- I have loved all your works from Brandy's Cinderella to seeing you live in LA in "The Producer's". I would be lucky to meet you someday. Keep on performing! Thank you both! Bravo!
Jason seems like such a class act. Loved this episode
Jason Alexander another amazing character actor. For me when I first saw the actor on screen was the 90's Disney film Dunsten check's in and Hunchback of Notre Dame where he voiced Hugo.
Jason Alexander is so interesting to listen to. I've never heard him in any interview, this is my first and I gotta say when he answers a question he's so clear and descriptive, even his mannerism is interesting to watch. He is a great conversationalist.
Excellent interview.
Perfect interview all around. M.R. pulls out all the good stuff from his guests, and J.A. is so personable and genuine that I could enjoy more of him and his acting anytime. His timing and inflections are genius.
Michael, you are the best interviewer I have seen in this realm. Nicely done!
I love this podcast so much. actors and the films in which they starred open up to me from a new side.
Thank you so much, Michael
George!!! I’m pretty excited for this one!! Love Seinfeld!! Can’t wait to hear what stories Jason Alexander will share with you. I also loved his work in Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance as Hugo ^_^ Thank you so much for getting him on the podcast Michael!! Keep up the awesome work and I hope you have an awesome week ^_^
Happy Tuesday 💙
Time flew by listening to this! Jason's so smart and such a mensch. The Sondheim story is so lovely.
Seinfeld is my favorite show, my husband too. And now my kids love it. We rewatch it always and love hearing about it and the behind the scene stories. ♥️
Jason Alexander has such a deft touch in interviews that you don't even notice the time slipping away. And so grounded! Maybe it's because he's really a theater guy and not mired in the culture of the west coast movie industry. He's humbly appreciative of the great talents he has worked with, while neither downplaying nor explicitly bringing up his own stellar caliber of talent. He compliments performers whose work he admires without expecting reciprocity, which is an attitude I see often among big names; as if they'd be giving some piece of their ego away with the praise.
And I LOVE that when he talks about his wife, she's the same wife no matter what year he's discussing. Their closeness and solid partnership is evident.
Michael talks frequently about his difficulty with memorizing lines. Obviously he feels it's a weakness in his job performance, and I wonder if it's a holdover from when he perceived himself as less intelligent or capable back in school. He is less than two years younger than me, which means he was going through school at a time when ADHD was just becoming an official diagnosis and there was very little academic support for these differently wired kids. All the things parents can advocate for the school to provide -- like extra time and isolation for tests, line readers, using friendlier fonts -- came long after he got out of there. Chances are that like my younger brother and many other kids, teachers viewed him as a behavior problem or at best a smart kid who refused to work to his potential. Nothing pisses off a teacher more than when a smart student who does not appear to have learning obstacles fucks around instead of just doing assignments.
I wonder also if he has some of the reading cognition challenges that usually accompany ADD/ADHD. My two kids have attention deficit issues; both take fooooreeeever to read anything. My younger one says that the first and last letters in words behave themselves but the ones in the middle jump all over the place. The older one doesn't experience that, but the comprehension takes a lot longer if she reads something than if she hears it out loud. Then there's my nephew, who just can't hang around long enough to read the end of a sentence. My brother couldn't write one. All four of them have IQs over 165. It's not about being smart!
At any rate, Michael, if you're still struggling with this, A) let go of the idea that it means you are inferior, and B) take a look at some of the accommodations being made in academia for people with ADD. You might find a few that make your work easier.
Like an old man returning soup at a DELI 🤣🤣🤣🤣Michael I know you love this Quote too.....RIGHT??
Another fascinating podcast. One of the very best interviewers around (why: he listens).
I am so excited for this episode. Inside of you Tuesday is the best.
💯❤️
Just starting this, but wanted to say I'll always remember Jason Alexander for the Whitney Houston Cinderella first, haha. It's only now in my adulthood that I'm catching up on Seinfeld. Thanks for the impact you've made, Jason!
Most people remember Michael as Lex on Smallville, I always imagine the Flash in my head when I hear his voice.
I loved Seinfeld when i was a kid , it became so much better as i grew up. Ive watched the whole thing through at least a dozen times. I put it on while im working just for background sound.
Great show. Id just watched 8 episodes of Seinfeld yesterday. No clue he was going to be interviewed. Seinfeld definitely has a special place in my life. After each episode couldnt wait to get to work next day and compare notes and laugh. Timeless!!
Great episode right here. Great actor and a quality conversation. This definitely makes it to my top favorite episodes.
Such a fantastic episode!! Definitely going to have to listen to it again!
Loved Jason, even before I knew he was a star trek fan lol. Even more so now, so many great roles SF, CyE, PP... awesome in Shallow Hal, let alone all his awesome voice work. Loved him in the Think Tank episode of Voyager! Played such a wonderful/morally ambiguous alien. Such an awesome episode, loved that ending.
Thank you for great and on depth interviews, Michael.
Его так интересно слушать, крутой чувак🌸 With love from russian admirer!
This is sick! Only 35k views, this should have had 500 000 at least! Jason is the best! Keep grinding Michael and crew!
I was absolutely enthralled by this interview!
Love it. Your videos get better everytime with your guest. You always make Tuesdays great.
Also wanted to say that I agree with Jason Alexander's comments about Michael's talent. What captured me immediately about his performance in Smallville is the way he conveys vulnerability in the early episodes (I have not gotten far in the series, didn't start til recently). It's not in his lines or blocking, but his eyes are eloquent.
This was terrific!!!
I think Jason looks younger and fresher now than as George in the 90s (I was an avid Seinfeld viewer back in the day, back when I found few American comedies funny).
Thank you for this wonderful interview...loving your show!
What an amazing episode. I'm a huge Seinfeld fan, so was so excited to watch this. I have never heard the golf ball monalog story. Such a great get Rosie.
I enjoy many of your interviews very much, this is my favorite so far. Learned so much, and Jason is such a mensch! Thanks so much for the high quality and great content. I can’t think of anyone who facilitates more of an honest connection with their guests.
This was great as usual!
My favorite part of Tuesday 💙🤘
Silence of the lambs joke flew right over. Lol
I love this. You are both awesome!
I loved this interview. Jason has given so much joy through the role of George in Seinfeld. I loved this interview. Thanks from the UK.
Jason Alexander is a gem, and if anyone hasn't seen the movie version of Love! Valour! Compassion!, they really should. I haven't rewatched it in many years, but I remember being incredibly touched by it. And Jason was fearless. Beautiful work.
Great great episode... Rosy, you never cease to deliver. Keep fighting the good fight. Wishing you and all the other Patreons a Happy Thanksgiving. Many blessings.
I'm half-way through...loving it. What a great guy. And was excited to hear about his magical beginnings. I was a magician's assistant for 4 or 5 years...what a blast. But alas, show business just wasn't in the cards for me. Did use it as a teacher at times though. Tannens, and Magic Castle...i love when you talk about that stuff. Looking forward to Stageit this weekend.
Great interview, Rosie!
what a gem of an interview this was, i loved hearing about Jerry Stiller character breaks.
I love Jason Alexander, from George costanza to Boris Badenough , not to mention his many many many voice works, this man has done it all
Such a talented actor, but to me, he will always be George Costanza! Time to break out the Festivus pole 🙌 🎉
Hope everyone has a great week! Looking forward to seeing Sun Spin on Saturday 💙.
Festivus for the rest of us 🎉
Break out the pole and get ready for the air of grievances and feats of strength! 😂
@@michelleking8302 💯
Let's air our grievances
Great interview! You're the man, Rosenbaum, and Alexander is a gem of a guest.
Phenomenal interview by a phenomenal interviewer and legend of a guest
Always a great Tuesday when it starts with Rosey! ❤️ #muchloverosey
Fantastic interview. Thank you.
How does this not have more views? Jason Alexander is a legend and George Costanza is my idol lmao I work from home and watch Seinfeld everyday. Been watching since I was 12 y/o I'm 30 now, the show is timeless.
Love Jason. Loved the podcast!
Love Jason’s insight and perspective! Thanks for this interview! Very enlightening, interesting, entertaining, and inspiring. 😎💖
These 2 played the greatest bald villains on television. Gonna really enjoy this one 😎👍
We need the Smallville characters to make an appearance in the DCEU Movie Multiverse. If Michael Keaton can come back as Batman no reason you guys cant make a return.
It's so cool to see Jason on the show. I barely knew what his real voice sounded like because i'm so used to him being George. lol
Nice Job Micheal! Very fun interview.
"The sea was angry, that day, my friends . . ." That was the first episode of Seinfeld I ever watched, and I swear at the end of it I thought George was the hero of the entire series. Brilliant.
What an awesome dude😍loved this❤️
Man, He had some great stories! by far the best character in Seinfeld and his cameo in Big Time in Hollywood FL is pure gold.
What An awesome interview!and of course is Jason Alexander a great storyteller.. really enjoyed this👍
Great interview.
wow. Best podcast/interview/anything ever
That was a great interview Michael T! You are a very good interviewer. I can't wait till we celebrate your 1millionth subscriber. Then a lot more after that. Only a matter of time. Much love!
Totally loved this episode. Rosie looks great for 50 and Jason Alexander seems like most down to earth guy in the planet. Both him and Anthony Michael Hall have been some hella good episodes. Rosenbaum is my spirit animal.
Thanks for this.
Great episode! Starting watching Seinfeld for the first time on Netflix
Man i was still in grade school when dunston came out 😢
Since Michael is a horror fan I was hoping he would talk to Jason about The Burning, a great slasher movie that is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.
I watched this hoping he would! No one has been able (or willing) to get him to speak on the record about it.
I wonder if J.A. has a list of things an interviewer cannot bring up.
@@THeilman I've never seen him talk about it either. Hopefully he's not embarrassed by it. It's a great movie and it looks like everyone had fun making it.
Really enjoyed this one. I’m a massive George costanza fan
OMG this was great thanks Michael
"Corner of the Sky" from Pippin! Brilliant!
This one was amazing
Another good episode to look forward to Rosey😍 have a great week everyone an see you Saturday 🐸🐸🐸❤️
Jason Alexander has always been or seemed to be one of the nicest actors in the business. You can tell he genuinely is a nice guy and an actor's actor, like he enjoys what he does a lot. P.D. I love the "Patrons names' exams" Michael puts Ryan through at the end of the episodes haha.
Neil Simon! I loved you in Brighton Beach Memoirs Jason!
I really enjoy this episode. I love "Pretty woman ', well, who doesn't?😁 Thank you for your work!❤😘🤗
Just finished Seinfeld on Netflix for the 2nd time. Yes, I have an addiction. My 50th surprise birthday party had Seinfeld trivia where they challenged anyone of my friends / family to take me on in 20 questions. Nobody beat me. "Coooostanza" is my favorite character on the show. The Summer of George, The Play Now, The World's Collide are my favorite episodes. The Andrea Doria where George tells the tails of Costanza, come on! The old guy didn't have a chance against the "Lord of the Idiots." Well play Jason...well played!
Yo i grew up on Seinfeld j Alexander was always on point seeing this interview makes it even better
Thanks, Rosey! Thanks, Ryan! Thanks, Jason! 🎙️
Great episode! Although I was hoping that you, as a huge horror fan, would ask him about his first film role in The Burning. One of the all-time great summer camp slashers with a terrific cast of then-unknown actors.
Jason Alexander is a good dude.
Wooow!!!! Excelente!
George is the main and best character of Seinfeld and everybody agree on that.
Great stuff
I never liked the earlier Seinfeld version of George when he was doing the Woody Allen thing. So glad he found his voice on that and nailed it.
I’m gonna have to rewatch smallville now
I definitely learned more about him.
I love this guy Michael and he hit it right out of the park, you are hands down, with no doubt, the best Lex Luthor live action or animated to date, and, btw, the best Flash as well. God bless you man
