I just wanted to say is THANK YOU!!! for explaining to people on this vlogg about how you get the true numbers for each bow manufacturer and also pointing out that maybe this person is sponsored by being paid to say that this bow is better than the other brand but at the end of the day is that all bow brands are the best and whatever works best for you is all that counts and who cares what anyone else says. Thank you, we appreciate it. There are a pile of good bows that produce really similar speeds, so the choice should come down to bow feel and features for each individual archer.
Good stuff. Any review where all the bows are set to the same draw length and poundage and then shot with the same weight arrow through the same chrono is super valuable as it’s a common baseline as you explained so well. Wish more folks had the resources to do it as it is very very good info.

So the fastest bow for 2024 must be the obssesion 360 mag/lite lol everyone is staying well away from this bow . Well official news it has already set a world record .
It would be great to see you guys test this bow even if you don't sell them. All bows made today are exceptional and properly tuned will do the job.
I've owned over the years like many lots of bows. It was in 2014 l tuned a obssesion phoenix bow 29 inch. It just blew me away .... a cam system that was designed ahead of all . 2 draw stops per cam . Well enough said . I'm sure there are lots of people that would like to see if this bow stacks up ! Pound for pound draw length for draw length . Etc

Good honest review. I shoot what feels good in my hands does not matter the brand. have an old Hoyt vetrix that still runs good with a new sting. considering a faster bow but I am getting 262 FPS from 2007-08 Easton axis arrows 100g tip 28.5-inch draw. might be hard to beat that even with a new bow. I ordered 6 new axis arrows and I hear they are a smidge lighter so we shall see.
This video helped put actual speed into perspective for me. I’ll spend my money on a new bow site rather than a new bow. The only thing I’ll gain is more let off potentially.

Good review! My PSE Mach 34 (S2 cams) shoots 284 fps with a 486 gn arrow, at 30.5” draw, 70lbs. Might have been beneficial to specify which cams you have on the PSE.

Core SR on performance beats anything on the list by 6-10fps. Lift is fast, but the SR is way harsher draw and a good bit faster.
You are correct! The Core SR on performance mode gained an additional 10 FPS which is crazy fast!
Out of curiosity, did you have the mods set to "performance" for the Bowtech Core SR?

@@archerynorthwest Interesting. We have been speed testing (350, 400, 450 grain arrows, ATA specs on bow) and did not find the Bowtech in Comfort to be particularly fast. It was much slower than the Mathews LIFT. At 30", 70#, it pushed a 450 grain arrow 287.1 FPS - I'm a little skeptical that it only lost 4 FPS shooting a heavier arrow and losing an inch of draw length. That said, the numbers you got do make sense based on the draw force curve in Performance mode...

My 2024 apa black mamba pro 28/60 300gr is shooting 335.if took my peep out I most likely get close to 340.
Sounds like a fast bow. I have heard good things about the APA bows, but we are not a dealer and do not have easy access to that brand for testing.

Was the bowtech in performance?
No, we shot all the Bowtech bows in comfort mode, simply because 90% of bowtech shooters (in our experience) do not like the feel of performance mode. Most are curious about the feel, but then quickly switch back because of the aggressiveness of the draw cycle.

It was a comparison test video... Since all bows where shot the same and not trying to hit IBO numbers, it was a very fair test video. Same arrow shot from all the bows with the same rest means the speed difference in each bow should be very representative of the bows.
Since I did all the testing, I feel qualified to answer. We did all the testing with the bows as close to identical as possible, to include using a whisker biscuit style rest. The reason is simple, the shop uses them for all test fire bows, they are easy to mount and setup, and since all bows are shot with the same rest, the results are representative across the board. Simple as that, we had no other agenda. And for reference, the whisker biscuit typically does not lose as much speed as people think, especially with a heavier test arrow.
Ugh 1-2 fps lost at most with whisker rest been tested carry on all these bows shoot identical speeds nowadays just pick the bow that feels good for you
What was the reasoning why you didn't have any APA bows. I would put the new black mamba up against any of these. In my opinion APA is the most underrated company. I think with them being Canadian they don't get enough recognition. Please review an APA bow.
We would love to test one but we only had these bows available at the shop. Hopefully some day we can test out an APA since they make great bows
Where's the actual 2024 PSE's? And then, you're still shooting just the Evolve not the E2 (S2 for 29") cams and expecting to judge the speed a PSE can provide. The new PSE Evolve DS with (sadly, custom as of this year) S2 cams should easily slip into the top 3. Were the bowtechs on performance?

Believe it or not, we are still waiting on the new PSEs to land for stock that haven’t been spoken for. We will do those when they get here and ad the Bowtech on performance mode. The main reason we didn’t run the Bowtech on performance was so few customers leave it there. They are curious of the speed but don’t like the feel. No doubt when we test them they will probably beat everything. We were trying to keep the feels comparable.

Shees PSE is taking their merry time. Well, IMHO they're a downgrade on the Fortis lineup from last year. No choice in cams (off the rack), a fixed roller guard (adds torque over a slider) and less efficient than last year's to boot. I like how they went for something out of the box with the quiver though. Attaching the keeper onto the roller guard.

I saw different results from the top bowtester on youtube...the prime bows were way slower
Who's the top bowtester?
I did the testing and I can assure you there were no agendas in the tests and all speeds are as reported. If a bow seemed particularly slow or fast, I would double check all measurements and confirm the results. I will be the first to admit that some of the results were a little surprising, on each end of the spectrum. Prime bows have always done decent with hunting-weight arrows, at least in my testing.

So we can shoot really light arrows with super wide mechs... probably rage.... and shoot deer at 80yds and get 4" of penetration??? Or so we can shoot 600gr arrows at a moderate speed and actually get good penetration and kill stuff?

Maybe you should all bow company.because you forget bear,apa,athens.i hate when people only test some bows not all of them.we are all hunter shoot different bow.some better then others.so the bow just test are not the fastest.you just not being fair to other companies. Just saying
We tried to test a representative bow from each manufacturer that Archery World sells. I did not test a Bear because we did not have a higher end Bear bow in the shop to test at the time, but it is something to add to the list. Archery World is not a dealer for APA, Athens, Obsession, Expedition, or any of the other smaller, boutique bow companies. It is not a knock against those bow companies, but a bow shop can only carry and stock so many brands. They choose to sell what works for them and what moves in our area of the country, so those are the bows I can test. I would love to test a bow model of every bow available, but there simply is not enough time to do such a comprehensive test, these test take much more time than most people realize.
Why are people hung up with bow speed all it does is make a more unforgiving bow
We agree. The purpose started out with wanting to compare which bow one of our shop shooters wanted. He likes to shoot around 275-285 fps with about a 450ish grain arrow. He wanted to hit that speed at that 29”x70lbs but have a great feeling bow. When we saw the results, we did it again and filmed it to share the results. Now some people are hung up on speed, we just look for a controlled speed with a fix blade Broadhead and feel like the high 270’s and mid 280’s provides great control.

Guys, you do a decent job. But come on. This is a speed test for crying out loud. Kill the Whisper Bisquit for starters. 30 inch draw guys,,,,not 29. 350 grain IBO arrow guys. 70 pound guys, Then TUNE the bow first to make sure the cams are timed and you're getting all the stored cam energy.
So I love you guys, but you get an "F" on this horseshit waste of time. How can you compare with a 450 something bow off the Manufactorers IBO stated bullshit speeds ? You basically are piling on more bullshit.
Do this one over and do it RIGHT ! Let's see who REALLY is selling us a bow with the most accurate speeds.

It's a comparison test for more real world applications, not an IBO speed test... Who shoots ibo specs in their setup? They did it right... They did not test for accurate IBO speeds... Go watch other videos if you want inflated numbers that archers will never see...
I will address this since I am the one who did all the testing. I will preface this by saying that these tests originally started selfishly as a way for me to test new model year bows and compare them at MY hunting specifications. I have been doing this every year since 2020, but this is the first time we have published anything. I am a 29" draw length, which is far more average (and longer actually) than most of the bows sold in archery shops, so I feel like it is a better test than the arbitrary 30" ATA and IBO testing. Nothing wrong with those, but if you research IBO specs you will find that they are not always what they appear. ATA testing is much more stringent and a fairer comparison across the board, but I digress. Anyways, I typically shoot a hunting arrow around 450 grains (440-490 depending on year), so I wanted to test bows at approximately that arrow weight, again for me to get a fair comparison of bows how I would shoot them. This was never (and probably never will be) intended to be an IBO test, I have no interest in that. Call this more of a real-world testing scenario. I also addressed it above, but the whisker biscuit style rest was chosen for simplicity and ease of comparing. The shop sets up all test fire bows with whisker biscuit rests, so they are easy to obtain and easy to setup, no more than that. And since every single bow was setup with a whisker biscuit, then the testing across the board is fair and equal. And whisker biscuits lose far less speed than people think, especially with heavier arrows being shot through them. And lastly, all the bows were checked for draw length and timing on a draw board. There were not "tuned", but every single bow was set with the cams hitting at the same time, no more than that. Draw lengths were set to 29" (as close as could be obtained without twisting strings and cables) and again measured on a draw board, not based off a cam setting or manual recommendation. All bows were set to 70 lbs and were never allowed to deviate more than .2 lbs. Hope that explains everything a bit better.
@@brycepick So what you're telling me is all we need is another arrow around 475 grains or so to simulate a standard hunting arrow ? Or maybe you want one like I shoot a 200 spine 565 grain arrow ? You ALWAYS start a speed test @ manufactorers IBO stated ratings. So make the rig IBO,tune it, 350 grain arrow. record the results, and shoot whatever hunting arrow you prefer. What's the big deal ? If you don't display IBO you CAN'T tell how much we are getting lied to or IBO +/- being abused and advertized.
If we are paying $1499 for a metal bow new that has a 342 FPS publicized rating,,,,and we can't get 325 out of it apples to apples, don't you think we are getting conned by the bow maker ? That is the plumbline, then we add a couple hunting arrows say 450 and 550. That gives a fuller view of what the bow can do and how much we are getting sold a bill of goods by abusing the +/- variances allowed by the IBO. Who BTW I think are about BK and not even doing any shoots anymore. Which might be good because they need to clean up these speed rating variances.
@@davidcopher4234 Bro as I stated, You do a very good job. But we are getting half of the reality. IBO has always been abused by manufactorers. Yet they advetize those speeds, and we PAY for those speeds. So real time starts where the manufactorer sells us on their advertizing and really lies to us. From there ,perfect to add weight for hunting applications. As for 30 draw ? True. Hardly anyone is a 30 draw. Agreed, but it is the IBO standards by which we are buying these bows for. It sux,I agree, but it is what it is.
