'slipping over their own fanny batter' is not a phrase I thought I was gonna hear today
Chris: Bloody UK roads are shit.
Also Chris: Bugger, they've closed the road to fix it.
Hahaha underrated
Love your vids boys. I've just turned 60, still got my own hips and knees, just had 1st service on Panigale V4S, lovin' it, lovin' it. For old man comfort I get on the Monster and for old school pain I get on the 996 - what a difference 20 yrs makes. Keep the vids coming.
Did you sell a kidney for the service?
@@VaderWhoop if it's the 'first' service then it should just be oil and general check. Probably not the desmo service.
You're right Jacob, just the 621 miler. Saving a kidney for the big one Vader.
Respect!
You're a lucky man
Likely a question I will never have to ask myself.
Kyle Morgan so you gonna buy both?
Same. Getting by with my Street triple.
Don’t think like a broke person
What about in 10 years?
@@DavidMossMGS maybe he has both :)
Recently traded my V4S Panigale for the Streetfighter. They are very different bikes. The Panigale was really just too fast too enjoy on the street. As a sport bike it was very easy to ride, you just can’t appreciate that much power unless you’re at a track. The Streetfighter is in a very different state of tune that allows you to use much more of the engine (I think the punch is still there, just not so in your face), is remarkably comfortable and yet seems to retain all the agility of it’s race focused relative. As a rider who might be lucky enough for a couple of track days a year, the Streetfighter has been a much better choice. Don’t think I’ve loved another bike a much as my Streetfighter. But both are simply amazing however, and it’s hard to beat the beauty of the Panigale.
Question, get the pringale with higher handle bars or get a streetfighter with a big wind visor?
Had a 1299 for four years after a succesion of Italian Sportbikes. Lovely ownwership experience and a great bike I spent a small fortune on in aftermarket parts, but I tested the V4 Pani' (even faster, even easier) and just came to the conclusion that Superbikes (or Superbike engined naked's) are an irrelevance to ride on the road now. Superb machines and I love them all, but trying to get a buzz on them on the road is going to end badly one way or another in the end. My saving grace was an out of character test of the Hyper' 950....WOW.... it was like going back 25 years, massive fun and hooning, but not Pani' warp speed, did some research and saw the 44Teeth review of the 950 and changed the 1299 for a 950 SP the next day. Keep it right side up kids......from an old git who can't hack it anymore :-)
The 950 Hyper is actually the only new bike I really, really want. My current bike is a 990SD, and the one before was a KTM 950SM. The SD is not going anywhere, but if I'm getting a new one the Hyper is the answer.
You really make me exited about the 950. I always wanted the Panigale. After owning 2 times Tuono V4, I thought the time is right now to go for the Panigale.
Can't wait for a supernaked comparison video. Superduke v Streetfighter v Tuono
Yes!!!
...that left me thinking if there would be any other contenders? Z H2 hasn't got a chance?
Miika Venäläinen waaaaay to unhandy and too fat to get a compee
We need this
@@gerritducati9615 Z H2 does belong with that group and it's one of the best more weight doesn't mean worse bike
I’m looking forward to seeing the quote in the Panigale advert “44 Teeth - Rampant Slag” LOL
In a very over produced artistic commercial.
Sheer poetry
I wish this could happen 👌
Got my SFV4S last week. My first Ducati, and non "race" bike. At 53, my back and arms (and arse) didn't want to ride longer than 25 minutes on a race bike anymore. The SFV4S is a revelation. Comfortable, super fast, very flick-able, and I will know how good it is around the Nurburgring next week! Panigale does look super sexy though!
How was your ride around the Nürburgring?
I rode the Streetfighter V4S with the full Akrapovic race system and it changed the bike enormously and made it ballistic like you mentioned it might be missing. It doesn’t need to rev as high as it does it feels insane to rev out
Due to the bodyposition and the following vindresistance and weightdistrubution nakeds usually gets a bit light in the front wich actually means that the SFV4 benefits more off the wings than maybe the panigale in high speeds.
Really great review of these two amazing bikes!! Keep up the video boys been highlight of my day watching 🙏
Lads I'd love to see you guys do a video on what's best for the road when it comes to real world fun bikes... I'll use the Yamahas as an example... is it the "lower" power (with spec'd up suspension etc) MT07... is it the middleweight MT09 or is it the supernaked MT10... which is really most fun in the real world? You could apply the same logic to the KTMs, Triumphs, Kawasakis etc etc
+++
Great comment @NomadLad. So often the focus is 'track, track, track' when you don't fucking well buy a bike for the track but to hoon around on the road, commuting to work, riding around the hills & the odd weekend escape. PS I had the MT07 for three years & it was a rewarding bike. So underrated and more power than you'd expect for a 650/680/700. Respect to you mate.
i would say, some midrange bike like the mt09 or Street Trible, KTM 790 etc. more than enought for the streets and less cheaper than the super naked. I mean yeah the big boys make fun and i enjoy my Super Duke everytime but the brain just hits the emergency switch every time you sit on the bike beside of the effect of the wallet it has.
I won't answer the question but I test ride a lot of bikes, basically every new bike for the last 5 years, and the single main factor for a fun road bike, for me, is power to weight ratio. If you're choosing between 2 bikes, the lighter one is generally more fun.
Hope that helps!
I'll throw in my 2 cents. I recently upgraded from an MT-07 to a 1290 Super Duke and I'd say realistically the MT-07 is more fun. It's cheaper, smaller, lighter and you can actually use most of what it's got and enjoy the noise without losing your license. The Super Duke is just scary amounts of power and goes from chill to losing your license/death in 2 seconds. I only got rid of the MT-07 because they rust, the stock suspension is awful, it has no quickshifter and mine had some wear and tear but those are things that can be fixed if you don't mind spending a little extra on it. The MT-07 is a bit gutless after 70mph but it was more fun around town (the Super Duke can power wheelie up to 130mph which isn't very fun around town).
Went from a blade to a Tuono, loved it but had to go back to a sports bike.(s1000rr) I missed the "race" riding position. But wish I had both. I think both is the answer here.
Just traded my 2018 Panigale for the Streetfighter. Absolutely agree with all your points. The road handling of the Streetfighter is sublime. So although I love the looks of the Panigale, the punt I took on ordering the Streetfighter in November has paid off. For the road it is just about perfect. Off to do some more running in...
Another awesome review guys, I'm v. tempted to chop my Superduke in for the new Streetfighter....and then I watch your review of the new Superduke....and then I watch your review of the Tuono....I then I watch some random northerner wash a bike while Chris eats an ice cream to take my mind off the decision! Best content on CZcams, period.
By far the best bike reviews. I see these bikes all over the Angeles Crest in LA, but this is where I get the big picture.
"Slipping over their own fanny batter to get on" OMG :D
Worth noting... the guy (Dave Moss Tuning) who setup my suspension on my Streetfighter V4S informed me that the Streetfighter has the Panigale V4R front forks which to him was a big deal and a real advantage over the Panigale V4S forks. I don't remember the technical reasons of what made the R forks so much better but he was happy about that. FYI. Cool review of the two bikes. Thanks guys.
Another top video, thank you gents. I'm looking forward to seeing the bikes in action at the mega test.
One thing is for sure the next 21 minutes Is going to be awesome thank you very much for new video keep up the good work boys love you. Stay safe
A month ago I did the same test myself as I decided it was time after 8 years to change my Panigale 1199S for a new one. I did the back to back on Snell’s two V4’s and came to the conclusion that for the road the Panigale needed the sprockets changed to the same gearing as the Streetfighter. My decision was to get the Streetfighter V4S, however I then got distracted by a new V4R and bought that. However on a back to back I have to agree with you that the Streetfighter is the much better road bike, and one hell of a bike all together.
Now the next interesting test, on the road, testing the 2020 Panigale V4S against the V4R...!
Another great video from 44 teeth 😊😊
Just the best show on youtube. Bloody love it old boys. The Ducati V4 sound OMFG. Keep the show going. :).
Neither.... Im poor and stuck with a poor man's bike 😂😂
Great to see you guys back On it 🤙🏼🤙🏼
Brilliantly reviewed, great vid lads.
All the subtle lil jokes and edits are what make this channel so special.
Excellent video and sound quality, you guys are really doing a pro' job now. Well done. As usual an amusing and enjoyable vid'. Keep it up.
Streetfighter riding position is way better for the street. I had a supersport once and it made no sense unless you’re on a track. This is why naked bikes are so popular.
Frame geometry is identical meaning both bikes have the same frame casting with respect to the steering, however, the rake angle is 2 degrees different - this is done with a frame insert to change the head angle. The SF has more rake. I have confirmed this visually with part numbers and measured both bikes with a digital angle finder.
Great vid and what amazing machines both...!! However if there was a Streetfighter V4 with a bit of fairing to keep the wind and weather off I'd go for that...
Fair play, after all this time I would have grown tired about the David Walliams sound alike thing, but he’s still rocking it. Well done.
More comparison videos please chaps! As someone who has just bought a GSA1250, and said i never would, whilst also having a S1000RR in the garage, i am slowly leaning towards upright and naked's for our roads. Productions like this give substance to decision making - especially 11:20.
Saving up the pennies and ill be getting a v4 panigale myself soon 😁
Short answer: BOTH
Absolutely Love the review and Channel,
Keep Rockin It you Guys !!! Your totally right Ducati Riders are Super Loyal just like there Mechanic’s.
Great review! Love my 2020 Panigale V4 - no issues and have approximately 2k miles so far. Selected it over the Streetfighter due to looks/preference for race bikes over the standard supernaked models. It definitely feels more subdued compared to my 1198, but love the improvement in cornering and power in upper RPMs. Love them both! I will however be adding the Akra system to V4 "get back" some of that angry attitude though! By the way, you can buy straight from Ducati an option that removes the Panigale wings and replaces them with a "red insert" (I actually like mine as is and will keep the wings).
I love my 19 V4 s, to me (but I ride every day) find it very comfortable. Love the video
Panigale all the way!! Italian flair :) Love the videos guys. Greetings from the Netherlands.
You guys are unbeatable.
I was also wondering....but now I know. Thanks for doing the work boys
I own a 19 V4S and I do prefer the bike without the wings. For the people that don’t like the wings, just buy an earlier model. I know there are a few computer and mechanical features that differentiate the older v4s and the new but not enough if one doesn’t like the wings. Honestly, the wings are there for the very top of the line guys needing every tiny advantage possible in a race. I beat a guy on a brand new winged v4s like he owed me money whilst riding my V4S without wings. It it comes down to the driver’s talent and the little things a bike can give to help the rider win a race. In the case of weekend warriors, it just isn’t going to make two cents difference.
Fastest bike in the world or not, the Ducati V4S is just a beautiful and amazing piece of machinery. I found myself on an open highway late at night coming back from a big event and McLaren P1 rolls up on me and we both just went balls out. Now that was a blast.
So rather I am on an auto Cross track, drag racing, or just cruising, the Ducati’s are just outstandingly remarkable and beautiful machines.
Great review, another level to all the other reviews - Al losing his fillings on that country road made my mind up.......but I would lean towards a V4 MTS
Fagan's landing strip is the perfect artistic inverse of these bikes ;)
Judging by your highly regarded opinions, I would definitely go for the Streetfighter V4S. I love the way it sits there minding it own business. At first, I was intimidated by the numbers. However, after listening to you guys, I feel confident that I could tour with it. Enjoy it. Rev its pants off when I want and be content with its wings. Being half Italian myself, I guess it's fitting that its more tame than the Panigale V4S. I guess you have to be full blooded Italian for that machine. Sorry, just being a bit of a sausage there. Thanks for the comparison gentleman. Much love from Pittsburgh PA! Cheers!
I ate at an Italian restaurant last night, now own two Italian bikes. LOL.. (Former Pittsburgh resident myself)
Well done, fellas. As a fan/owner of the Monster series, unfortunately, they're not all day friendly to ride. Would be nice to see a 959 version of a Streetfighter. Would make it much more accessible from a price perspective and not everyone needs, or wants 200+ HP. Keep up the great work....
Ha, ha, so 23 seconds in and we already know that a Bristolian doing an Italian accent sounds Irish... Ace!
Great comparison video boys
I agree with the wings option in having them or not having them.
As a bit older ripper that naked bike is hands down my choice. No need for fairings etc as I don't race. Naked bikes do track days very well also. Great review boys...
Nice job guys! Since I’m a naked rider 🤔, I’m wondering how the street fighter would behave as a touring bike. Including bags etc. Would be nice if you can me a video about that.
I've always stuck with naked bikes because I like to go on long rides (4+ hours). I rode on my friends R6 and my back was done after an hour.
Thanks again for a top vid - just needed a wee "...and now Mossy's verdict" at the end 😆
I would say just get the V2 instead but just had a look and prices start at £15,295!!! 😲
I'll save people some time. If you ride primarily on the track, Panigale. If you ride primarily on the street, Streetfighter (hint...it's literally in the name)
I wish I had Panigale money haha.
Im really keen on a Ducati down the track but the Monster 821 or Supersport S is the price range I feel comfortable with.
Brilliant video - but I'm still getting an MV Agusta when its time for a change.
I see MV Agusta, I upvote.
@@RutgerSmets same, pure sex
Great video guy, you can’t do better than a couple of Italian beauty’s.
I loves a Ducati me - shame I've nowhere near enough riding skill to really appreciate the nuances, so taking your word for the riding subtleties chaps, doesn't stop me looking forward to having a go on these puppies sometime soon though! Thanks for a great vid....and a reminder of what sunshine looks like....
I just bought a GN250 other then that I have a R1 RN32 as a track bike. I would recommend to 250 to a person like you :D
Top quality as always. It has to be the panigale for the pure trouser tentage
Bloody top vid guys.... enjoyed that muchly, thanks!
Great review as always guys, I would like to see a multistrada vs S1000 XR review if possible please
The wings are not for down force, they are there so you have somewhere to put your sausage roll / pastie / chips when you stop for luncheon.
I can't get enough of Al's mane lol you guys are pumping out videos rn, keep it up! 4:50 u went by loomies, i need to stand watch on that corner so I can gaze my eyes upon your magnificence lmao 21:00 "130 on the road you'd be dead or arrested" me on my 650: () (only do it on empty (closed course proffessional stunting) motorways in straights pls don't hate)
Got to love the A272, see you on it tonight 🤪
I will wait for a multistrada with the v4 engine! Amazing vid and the editing is superb 👌
Hopefully they stick with the L-twin in the Multistrada. This V4 runs awfully hot to the point where Ducati engineered the rear 2 cylinders to shutdown often in traffic to prevent it from melting. Not good city/touring bike characterics for what the Multistrada is.
great video guys !!
informational and lovely video
I'm seriously considering a V2 instead of the V4, but that Streetfighter. I've been doing a lot more track days, but I do like something civilized on the street. I currently have a street triple RS. what are your thoughts on this upgrade?
Not ridden the Pani yet but enjoyed the Streetfighte, but for me ultimate naked for the road is the Superduke!
You're not wrong dad
So that’s a ‘definite maybe’....let’s face it no one ever bought a Panigale for comfort. Loving the depth of field you could be miniature scale models #tilt shift
Neither. I went with the 2019 V4S because o liked it more. The 2020 fairings roasted my legs on the street and... it was more tame but i didn't want tame. Also i bought 2020 set of fairings for when im at the track. The wings really do help at 100+. But the previous fairings feel leagues better on the street imo.
Would love to see a sport bike comparison that isn’t track or road, but rather road and 5-6 track days per year. What’s the best compromise for fun, forget lap times, and include sport snd streetfighter styles.
In Quebec Canada the registrations (license plates) are cheaper on a naked bike and with the rough roads we have here the Streetfighter is a win win. Both are great bikes, Im VW/Audi bias
You said in the review of the Z1000SX that the fairing made for a more confident front end feel over its fully naked cousin. Those 28 kg at 130 mph from the wings would be 6 kg at 60 mph. Same difference.
So much content guys!
Great review Gents. I would take option number 3. Panigale V2
You wait till Ducati releases Streetfighter V2 for £12k!
@@PabloConcrete Yes PLEASE!!!! I'm there like a bear!!!! STREET FIGHTER V2 for 2021 !!!!
@@barryvercueil2346 It will definitely happen, especially now when Ducati sports bikes are easier to ride than ever before!
Would love to see comparison tests between V2 and v4 around somewhere like Mallory Park.
Love coming back and playing this video to sleep and dream with Ducati’s
the beep at the girls gave you the thumbs up haha
Street fighter with a touring and I’m good to go , oh and money 💰 😂
Gas consumption is Brutal!! 100 miles if your lucky on a tank
Multi v4 with a 28litre safari tank.
Just looking at the panigale and thats all the reason to choose it for me
streetfighter alday for me , nice upload lads
Ha! Funny. I've been looking forward to this test, and I agree with everything you both say. But more with Chris. I couldn't go past those looks. Having said that I have a 959 Corse because it has the looks and usable thrashability...
"Fanny batter", you guys crack me up 😂😂👍🏻
I’m going for the 2020 fireblade sp. rrrrrr-r. I do like both of these mind you. But put down my order today after a test drive in our dealer. Closest ever to a MotoGP bike you can buy for the road. I wish I’d never sold my 916 Carl fogarty bike back in the day mind you.
I would go for the Panigale. I don't have time to do long trip on Streetfighter anyway. And on track days the Panigale would do better in term of wind protection.
I'm hopefully getting back on a bike in the next couple of years after a long hiatus. I used to have a 2013 1199S and had over 5k miles on it before life circumstances forced me to sell it. I honestly thought it was very comfortable for a sport bike especially considering it was my first sport bike EVER.
The SFV4S has caught my attention, but after having a Panigale and putting plenty of miles on it, I think I will be going with a Panigale V4S.
There's just something oh so magical and sexy about the Panigales that I know if I went with the SFV4S I would eventually see a Panigale V4S on the road and regret my decision.
Sorry for the long response. Lol...
I bought the SFV4s and haven't looked back. After riding the Panigale v4s I decided for public roads and daily riding its just too much.
Very fair entertaining review. Haven't heard the term fanny batter for about 20 years & it genuinely made me lol Meanwhile back at the bikes, it would be interesting to see where the 5k's gone as I reckon there's a chance, somewhat pointlessly, that you could turn the Streetfighter in to the race bike for less. Maybe.
Great review. Not a fan of the wings personally but I'd happily swap my multi and 848 for these... Just have to do that bank job first.
I agree with what they said, I would prefer the street fighter without the wings. It’s too busy. I may still get one.
I wonder if the Panigale tail will be a direct fit onto the Streetfighter...🤔 Especially for us loners - "V4 Streetfighter, Loner Edition"
its so hard to pick just one because i think both of them are the top bikes for 2020. ducati did a really great job. like what baron said if its for a show off bike i would go for panigale. but to be realistic i would go for the street fighter. streetfighter it is a jaw dropper but the effect of seeing a panigale specially this model.. women panties will fly over your visor for sure
Excellent video, young gun. Could not agree more. I never really understood why folks would by a brand new bike (say like a BMW S1000RR) And then rip the damn pipe off, get it dynoed (by some dude who most likely has no idea how to do it right) and then drop tons of money on an SC Project race exhaust - so that they can still ride the same speed on the same roads... Makes no sense at all.
If you are a track person, wanna strip weight off the bike and are really dialing in your bike I could maybe see doing it - maybe. But for the street? You nailed it on all points. I have a CB1000R with 143 BHP. I stuck a nice Akra slip on, on it. Looks great, has a nice angry growl at higher rpms and the engine runs like a clock and that is how I want my bike to run too. I don't particularly like how the CAT looks, but not enough to wreck my bike for sure. Great video - you are wise beyond your years, youngster.
Great video as ever, chaps.
The overall impression is that these bikes are lovely, but utterly pointless on the road. I'd rather have a 750 twin that you can enjoy using most of, rather than be shortshifting around 90% of the time.
love my 2020 monster 1200s
Wings on a superbike you might take to the track, OK makes a bit of sense... Wings on a naked bike is ridiculous, IMO. I agree with Chris, it would look a lot nicer without them.
Then either dont buy one or take the wings of👌
The BMW with M package doesn't include heated grips, but I doubt you needed those.
Auto dim dash is a bit sensitive, the shade from trees seem to be enough to trigger it.
Isn’t it restricted in the first 3 gears to 80% throttle? Hence it not being as much of a beast as it could be...? Great review!!!!
Would have loved to see a friendly pull between these 2. For science.
