    Hey, great video! I was also wondering, how would you rate the "simplicity" of rules, assignments, contact in case of questions, etc. I am just worried that after applying, I will miss some rule and get lost.

    • @FaizanJavair
      @FaizanJavair  Před 10 měsíci

      I am assuming you are asking about UOL CS degree. Well the assignments are 7/10 some projects are really great with structured and manageable expectations for the projects. But some are just worst at sucking the life out of you with the graders expecting way too much and guidelines being not that clear ending up in a mediocre grade. However overall the assignments are alright. But I have learned quite a lot even from the worst subjects so I am not gonna complain about them much.
      Contact in case of questions about the subject is whopping 0/10 because you can leave comments on the tutor group and maybe able to ask about assignments but usually you have live webinars before the mids and the finals only clearing the air about examinations. And the only lifeline for students is the Slack group of all the students with groups for different subjects where students help each other out through out the course and that community is a solid 9/10. But just keep in mind that throughout the degree it will you, coursera videos and the internet along with the slack group.
      However contact in case of questions about technical issues is 6/10 for most students and for me it’s around 8/10 because I have never had many issues but students when run into issues like deferring and exam, feee issues or sometime plagiarism issues run into really long delays due to poor management. But for me it’s been a smooth experience throughout with a few issues in between but they were sorted out by management. You usually contact them using either email or help portal. And in this past year they have improved they email support and management a lot but there are still many issues students are facing. But if you just keep on taking the subjects, passing them, and repeating the process, you will probably won’t ever run into any issues. But if you ever do run into any issue, then never hesitate to email UOL and keep on knocking at their door until they fix it.
      I hope this was helpful.

      I am not sure about international exchange for all the universities but it’s less likely that the online degrees will have a international exchange program. Hi. If I want to apply for an undegraduate online degree from LSE in BSc. economics and mathematics. Should I apply through UCAS ? Or platforms like edx and coursera. For physical on campus programs we need to submit the personal statement and prove them that we are worth doing the degree. Like is only applying through the application form in LSE website enough. Will we get admitted in the program?

    • @FaizanJavair
      @FaizanJavair  Před rokem +1

      For physical degrees usually you apply through UCAS or on the website of the university. And mostly same is the case for online degrees as well because coursera or edx will eventually lead you to the university’s portal to complete your application. Note that coursera and edx will mostly be just the virtual learning environment, and you will end up completing all the registration process on the university’s website and will be in constant contact with university during your degree and application process.

    Thank you in advance.

    • @FaizanJavair
      @FaizanJavair  Před rokem +1

      Hey! I am glad you liked the video. Well my course allowed me to take a maximum 4 subjects per semester so as a full time student, I was able to manage 4 subjects together. However for people with a full time job may find it hard to manage the both. People then usually take 2 to 3 subs to put less pressure on them.
      But usually the pressure increases during midterms and finals otherwise mostly you can manage things quite well if you give equal time to each subject every week.

      Yes it is I’m also pursuing same degree and it is hec verified which means you can get local jobs too, it gives a good impression on your cv that you’re studying from a well known university and it doesn’t makes a difference, it is a bit expensive compared to our local degrees but if you perform good throughout your university you can get scholarships in masters as they’re recognised internationally as compared to our local degrees.

      You can, but after you have completed level 4 and 5. Meaning in level 6, you can transfer to campus but fee is significantly higher compared to what you will be paying online. Also it depends on the degree as well, some do allow on-campus transfer while some don’t. But for my degree at least, BSc CS, students do transfer on campus. Just apply for it in the start of the year and keep a look out for due dates for those applications so you don’t accidentally miss them. I hope this answers your question.

      I know a lot of people working in tech without a CS degree and earning quite well.
      Although the degree will improve your chances of getting through that first round of Resume screening but after that it’s all technical questions. And I haven’t had any bad experience or weird questions being asked about the degree, so far everyone has been treating it normally.

      I have applied to many remote jobs, and yeah I am still in my final semester. And till now I have gotten two interview calls after applying to soo many junior roles and internships. And finally one of them hired me as an intern a few days ago as a developer (this is a remote job that I am talking about). The interviews went very well and not once they asked about my degree. However I did told them about what I have studied so far and they asked questions about the things I know about. But it all comes down to skills, knowledge and the willingness to learn. If you show all of them then yeah companies will hire you. But beware that finding remote jobs will be much harder than finding one locally in your country. But once you get it, then it’s all uphill ride. Mostly these days recruiters just look for skills and yeah having a degree in the resume is a plus but it never guarantees a job.
