    What about the exams bro? Is it possible for you to finish all modules for a year and then sit for their exams. Or should you do the exams as and when you complete the modules. Because you can only sit for some modules per semester and then you continue with other modules in the next semester. My question is that for instance in year 1, I will be studying some modules in one semester and the other modules in next semester. Can I complete all my year 1 modules first and then take all my year 1 exams together. Or should you study the modules of semester 1, take the examination and then move to modules of semester 2.

    • @FaizanJavair
      @FaizanJavair  Před rokem +2

      No actually you can't do that. When you take the subjects, you'll have to give the exams when the time comes, not before or after you can sit for exams. However you can defer your exams and then in the next semester continue the module and give the exams at the said time. But the max subjects you can take per semester are 4 which means you'll be able to give only 4 papers per semester.

    Heyy, I'm about to apply for this same degree BS CS Goldsmith, University of London. Your video has been really helpful as there has been only bad reviews about it. Can you please tell me if getting this degree will be the same as getting an undergrad from any other university on-campus? I mean, I just finished my high school and I would only be depending on this degree as my undergrad to finish my studies. So is the degree worth it? Would I learn the same things as any other BS programs in CS? Sorry to make this comment long, just really nervous.

    • @FaizanJavair
      @FaizanJavair  Před 2 lety +10

      Hey, actually I was in the same situation before starting this degree. I looked at many options abroad and in my country and uni's in my country aren't that great tbh even if they 'rank' good in some rankings. But when I opted this degree, I was confident that I'll be getting a good experience and so far it's not bad. Yes, there are subjects which are irritating, and some where project requirements are vague which leads to bad grades. But overall it's fine for me, and I believe that the 3rd semester subjects are more practical than anyother we study because before you basically taste everything and then in the end you choose what suits you best. Yes, there are like 3 subs, web dev (not the 3rd semester one), agile software and artificial intelligence which people found really bad because the first two had a group project and you just have to cross your fingers with what group they put you in. But, to summarize all of this, yes this degree has some subjects which are bad, and some which are really good, but on the side you have enough time to do certifications and all so that's good. Also yes this degree is valid as any other degree out there, the only difference is the transcript where the mode of study is stated as 'online' otherwise it's the same degree a goldsmiths on-campus whould get. Mostly to take this badge of 'online'study from the transcript, people join the uni on campus in the last year but yeah that's expensive but what it means is that this degree has value. And with it's flaws and good thing I find it fine for ME and other might have different experience but for me it has been alright so far.
      I hope this was helpful, have a good day!

    I have a question, will getting this degree help me land scholarship in the future? What I mean by that is, generally, if you study for a bachelors degree in an university and receive decent gpa and do gre and other stuffs, you may acquire scholarship for masters in the future. Is that the same case for this online university degree? I mean, does it have that kind of credibility for pursuing higher studies in the future, in your opinion?

    • @FaizanJavair
      @FaizanJavair  Před 2 lety +9

      That's a valid point though, I had the same concerns in the start when I was applying to universities, and I had no idea that I would be doing this degree. The institute that I am with right now assured me that this degree has the same value as the one I would do on campus, so mine is BS CS from Goldsmiths, University of London. And now according to them I'll get my degree from UK soo we will have our ceremony in the UK which is kinda reassuring that "Yeah, this sounds legit!" and hence has value. And the degree will be the same as the one any student will get after studying from Goldsmith's at campus but the only difference will be the transcript which will have the mode of study 'Online'. But people usually transfer to on campus study to take that badge of 'online' study from the transcript. But tbh at this point for my particular degree no one knows if they will be getting any scholarship for master's after they are done with this, because, the senior most students are now in the first half of the 3rd year and no one again 'for my particular degree' is there to confirm anything about getting a scholarship after. But, what I believe is that since this degree'is credible as any degree that a on campus student will get except for the mode of study to be 'online', then maybe there's a chance for us to get scholarship in the end. But again I took my local institute's word for it since some students got it for other degrees but again I haven't met or talked to a person myself to confirm that. Apologies for a long reply, all I want is to give the best information possible!
      Also it'll be great if you let me know what else should I talk about on this channel regarding this topic, I know I might have missed alot of things in this video and some information may not be as detailed but it'll be great if you leave a feedback of what other things you might wanna see on this channel.

    • @FaizanJavair
      @FaizanJavair  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Hey, so one of my friend just completed his Law from UOL and applied for Masters in the UK and got accepted. And I have seen many other people getting acceptance as well in Masters at least. I am assuming it will the same thing for PHD on campus. However sometimes Universities reject the application on the basis of required subjects like “not enough math modules”, while some don’t have that high requirements. Just look at the module specifications, and plan on what university you want to apply to later on and then decide if UOL is the right fit for Masters. The degree itself doesn’t say “online” in any way, it’s like as if you got from on-campus, however the transcript has mode of study as “online”. But usually people have no problem getting in for physical degrees in the UK at least.
      I hope this helps.

    Secondly, do all the exams are supposed to be given at the partnered institution or some of them can be given online.
    Thirdly what is the approximate cost of giving an exam at a partnered institution for a Band A student?

    • @abdelhak_13
      @abdelhak_13 Před 2 lety +3

      I was recently accepted, so I'm technically still not a student but I think I can respond to your questions.
      First question, you only pay for the teaching centre if you want to study there, otherwise, you don't have to pay or study there, completely your choice.
      Second question, before covid all final exams were given at the nearest centre, but because of Covid, last semester exams were completely online. Some modules don't have exams, they rely on coursework and midterms, which are completely online.
      Third question, UoL is not responsible for the teaching centres prices, you'd have to directly contact the nearest teaching centre via email or phone, or maybe go to them.
      Hope this helped a little.

Test yourself by buying some Udemy courses, you can literally get them for $16. And there are many google courses out there too. I'd say test the waters by taking the certifications and then probably if you are really serious and passionate about CS, then change your degree. Getting a degree in CS wouldn't guarantee a job, only thing that will is you skill. Also, there are many free learning options available too, such as free code camp etc on CZcams.

This depends on how good your total marks are in the degree, so anything above 70 is First class honours.

    Are the exams on campus or are they delivered online if so what are the procedures of examinations online?

    • @FaizanJavair
      @FaizanJavair  Před 2 lety

      When I started, covid was already on its rise soo they shifted to an online examination system. So you have two sections for every subject, the MCQ part and the Written Assignment part. The online exam is held on a VLE called Moodle.
      The MCQ part is timed so you have only one attempt and the written assignment part has 24 hrs to finish and submit.
      While before covid, they took held the examinations at a specific center. And the papers were the same, MCQ and a written paper but they were timed differently obviously.
      In case you are wondering that if they have any invigilator in an online exam, they do not as of now but they do use a plagiarism checking software called turnitin.

    Faiz, hello. How much cost your degree per year?

    • @FaizanJavair
      @FaizanJavair  Před rokem +1

      Hey, so this degree costs me almost £3000 per year but this will really depend on where you live. They have divided the countries into two groups called Band A and B.
      First check in which Band your country comes in from this link below:
      www.london.ac.uk/sites/default/files/leaflets/country-bands-comupter-science-only-2021.pdf
      While then you can go ahead and follow this other link below to check how much you will pay if you are in either band A or B. Please just check the 15 credit hour subjects and since you can only take maximum 4 subjects per semester and 8 subjects per year soo by this you can check the total expected amount you will be charged.
      Link to check your fee per subject:
      www.london.ac.uk/sites/default/files/schedules/bsc-computer-science-feeschedule-2022-23.pdf
      I hope this helps!

      @@FaizanJavair Hello Faiz, thanks for your information! I decided to enroll in it too, but after checking the PDF, I have a question. Why the fee for institution-supported learning is even cheaper than web-supported learning? Is the fee mentioned in the PDF paid to UOL and do we still have to pay an additional fee to the local learning center?

    • @FaizanJavair
      @FaizanJavair  Před rokem

      @@pingtao8437 yes you will have to pay to institution as well if you choose to be with a partnered institute. Soo that's why the fee is reduced a little from the UOL's side.

    Hello friend, you said that you are in an institute and because your grades are good you got a scholarship. Could you help me with this subject? Which kind of institute you are enroled? do you mean the study centres in your country or is it another type of institute. I'm asking that because I don't know if I can have it. Cheers and thanks for the video

    • @FaizanJavair
      @FaizanJavair  Před rokem +1

      Hey, so this is like a local teaching center that serves as a 'extra help' they don't have authority of checking your exams but all they do is help with your subjects. The scholarship part it really depends, I got lucky in a way that the Highschool I was in had extended their services as a certified institute for UOL and since my A levek grades were good so they gave me a scholarship for the fees that i had to pay them NOT THE UOL. But it depends on the institute you are with.
      Now to know if there is a local teaching center in your country, go ahead and write "University of London local study Center" on google and you'll get a page of UOL. Open it and scroll down to search for your country and see if they have any local institutes accredited with UOL. I hope this was helpful!

      I'd suggest watching my 2nd latest video, it is 27 mins long and I have talked about many things and more in-depth than this video. Just keep the CC on for that video cuz people had issues of not able to understand my voice because of high background noise. It also has all the relevant links in the description.
