Sad but true.. Stranger than that fact is when drivers who raced with peak Kimi talk about best drivers ever according to them, they mention Alonso, Hamilton, Michael etc. Not Kimi! For example Button knew Kimi was a beast.. Rosberg and Hamilton were fans of peak Kimi.. Alonso also.. Martin Brundle witnessed his peerless performance.. I think this is Kimi's own fault. Because he left us (Mclaren) for Ferrari, his peak period lasted short and those days were forgotten quickly.
@Jason it's so true, I love him, but beside this, he wasn't that great when the car nor the tyres didn't fit his driving style. His disadvantage was his driving style which made him fast only in a few circumstances, and I think this is why he's always close to WDC but only getting one in 2007 by one point. I believe that Kimi isn't perfect and not the Greatest driver of all time, but the sportsmanship and the courage made me love this driver.
From 2003-06, Kimi Raikkonen was the fastest driver in the world. His pace over one lap is SCARY and his overtaking was AMAZING! Glad he eventually got the title in ‘07 but he really deserved a title at McLaren.
Kimi was the most talented and fearless driver at the time, but nobody was faster than Jarno Trulli on one lap. Kimi at his peak was quite close though and a far better racing driver when it really mattered.
@@Inertiafivezero I used to think that about Jarno until 2006 when Ralf outqualified him over the season. Jarno had ups and downs. Kimi was just relentless speed.
Really hard not to be a Kimi fan when you know this version of him. Peak Kimi is definitely among the absolute best of all time, probably on par with all time greats like Schumacher and Senna at their own peaks. Too bad McLaren just couldn't give him a car that could consistently finish the races.
He should have been a multiple world champion, i remember the seasons of 2003 and 2005 when he definetly was one of the best in the field if not the very best.
