      Don’t go with this weak simple hi/low. It does work. It probably has an overall edge of 1/2%. Learn one of the best counts out there. Buy Ken Uston’s book, “Million Dollar Blackjack.” Get an overall edge of 1 1/2%. That’s about 3x stronger than hi/low. I’m not knocking this system. It does work. But if you can, why not get all the edge can? It’s easier to take the path of least resistance than to apply yourself more. I’ve sat at the blackjack tables playing hi low wanting more of an edge. And I bet Ben and Colin have as well. Don’t settle for less. It does take more time to learn multi-parameter count (side-count of aces, since aces are paramount in betting strategy). But you’re likely going to make 3x more.

    This is definitely a good way to understand how the game is played. I have a fair win rate and I am happy with my play and wins. My concept is thus and is strictly my opinion but works well and I am by no means telling you not to watch their vids . . . . the simplest form of (playing) this game isn't to "beat" the dealer. The simplest form is to maximize chip gain and minimize chip loss. You won't beat (win) the dealer in every hand. You can win chips without "beating" the dealer. These guys are teaching the initial way to win as many hands as possible. The reason why teams are so successful is that they share the same goal of winning more chips. The best way to play this game is by yourself with multiple hands, so you are, yourself, your own team. Most of the time other players on a table will always try to win every hand at the odds of losing your hand (or two or three of your hands) or develop animosity and they will actively try to make you lose your bets. Choose a game with a good side bet, surrender (if available), learn the odds, stay consistent with play (don't get sucked into "I have a feeling", and play by yourself. Do not be afraid of leaving a table for another if you are on a bad streak or leaving entirely before you lose all your money. The casinos will always be there and you can return for another session another time. You must completely devoid the dollar value of the chips. It is all about the number of chips not what they say on them. Learn to play with 5 dollar chips and when you win consistently, change the value to 25 dollars with the same number of chips. Counting cards is irrelevant in a continuous shoe and in 7 or 6 deck shoes will get you tossed out of a casino or you will get capped on the number of hands you can play to only one and will no longer be allowed to reserve a table. Be courteous to the other players and ask them if they mind if you join the table or if they are winning see if you can just bet on their hands and win when they win until they ask if you want to start playing. Most dealers will tell you "the odds say to do this" but that is just the beginning, the base of play, not the end.

    • @Cowtymsmiesznego
      @Cowtymsmiesznego Před rokem +4

      That is a lot of words, but the truth is you will always lose in the long run without counting cards and varying your bet accordingly. If you think you can profit placing only $5 bets, you are wrong.

    • @vorpal120
      @vorpal120 Před rokem +2

      @@Cowtymsmiesznego indeed, varying your bet is essential no matter how you play the game. I was by no means implying that all your bets should be the same. I didn't mention that point (which is the basis of card counting). Counting cards and winning a bunch is a sure way to be restricted to one hand all the time or worse yet, banned from the casino. I keep a general idea of the cards played but on a continuous shoe it doesn't matter. Counting cards and making modest bets, then, when the count is overwhelmingly in your favor, betting an amount that you haven't before will get you in trouble. I have been on the restricted to one hand list on a couple of casino's. I wasn't counting cards. I just played correctly and made money. Counting cards is a way to maximize bet return on hands that don't favor the dealer. But sometimes the dealer is just as likely to win on a good count as you are... and if you don't understand the odds of each hand or if players are actively trying make you fail, the counting cards doesn't really mean a whole lot on a full table with you last to act and a ton of inexperienced player eating up a bunch of cards to change the count by the time it gets to you. Moreover, if you play by yourself with a limited amount of hands. It will be very obvious that you are counting cards and will be asked some very tough questions.

    I worked surveillance at my local casino and while counting cards is not illegal, there are methods the casino uses to determine whether or not you are counting cards and can/will back you off of table games and send out notices to other casinos notifying them that you are what they consider an "advantageous player". While it's a great way to make money, it doesn't usually last long before they catch on

    One other advantage that the player has: quitting! If your hands are stiff or the dealer is hot, you can change tables. In fact, it's a good idea to watch a table before entering the game just to get a feel for what's going on. Proper money management is also helpful to keep you ahead (or at least closer to 0) of the house. Playing single and double deck games are also preferable because, even if you're not counting, you can at least keep up with high cards (10,J,Q,K) and aces. I tell people all the time that I generally win when I go to the casino and they either say I'm lying or that I'm just lucky, but I just observe patterns and manage my money. I can and have counted cards, but I do just about as well just keeping track of the high cards and aces, especially at a single deck table. I also have learned how my 'luck' runs. That is something that you have to figure out on your end. I usually start off 'hot', because I've watched before-hand and I've got a feel for the game before I've made a wager. When I start losing, I quit (regardless of the 'count'). If I lose 3 'units' in a row, I will usually leave that table. Another good rule of thumb is to increase your bet only when you are winning and not when you are losing (known as chasing your loses). Learn and use the basic strategy! Be a machine! Learn it to the point that you don't even think about it. If your playing at a table and other players are saying that you made a bad play but you are going by the basic strategy, keep to the strategy. If you hit a 10-6 with a face card and bust, and the dealer is showing 7 and has a 9 hidden a lot of players will dog you for hitting because the dealer would have busted with your face card. (This will only be an issue if you're playing third base) Don't worry about it! When they are broke, you will still be playing or cashing in. SO, Play Basic Strategy, ALWAYS! If you master card counting, then you can worry about deviating, but until you get counting down pat then you can learn what goes along with the knowledge of what the count is on any given hand. Learn Basic Strategy, manage your money and if you're losing; take a break. And, before I conclude, one last thing: LEARN and PLAY the Basic Strategy.
