      I'm a year late. Pretty much any jewelry tool/findings shop will have everything you need for a plating setup. Most major US cities has a jewelers row that has 1-3 of these shops available. If you have no city. Stuller inc, riogrande, and a few other sites also have those supplies.

    why did you place the rectifier and rhodiem jar in a container of water? and can't see you use heat for rectifier and rhodium!

    Is there a difference in terms of model number. Yours says 1505. Aliexpress model is 1502 ($32 plus $45 shipping), Amazon has model 1503 ($93 free Prime shipping). Thanks.

    Do you ever use this system on hardware from a handbag? I just removed the gold plating from a bag, and now want to rhodium plate it. What was under the gold is silver and shiny, but I couldn't find anything online to indicate what it is... the bag is Ferragamo. Anyhow, I was just wondering if you have experience with that and if I can expect it will work on the hardware. Thanks.

      Sorry but I have no idea. I was only plating gold jewelry. All the idea of this video is to show how a person with no knowledge of plating can do it at home in a simple and cheap procedure.

    Do you have a recommendation of where to get the rhodium solution?

    • @allsapphires
      @allsapphires  Před 2 lety +1

      Not really, I bought it locally (Sri Lanka) It is rhodium in a solution the difference will be the concentration of the metal 1 gram 2 gram calculate the real cost by how much rhodium you get, how muck you pay for a gram of the metal not for a liter.

    Hey do you have to have the electricity on before dipping the ring into the acid or rhodium solution? or can you put the ring in then hit the switch? does it matter?

    • @allsapphires
      @allsapphires  Před 5 lety

      It doesn't really meter, I usually put the ring and then open than hit the switch.

      Never ever a water to the acid and do it slowly.
      95% Sulfuric Acid to prepare a 5% solution with distilled water. add 5 ml to one liter of distilled water to get the solution. be very careful, always add the sulfuric to the water, never the water to the sulfuric acid !!

      Very easy to do in the studio, I do. I buy the materials from a local supplier, run a google search "buy rhodium solution" and you will get many sellers, you will need to buy the rhodium solution ready to use or concentrated the rhodium is expensive, you will also need "electroplating cleaning" I buy the salt and make the liquid solution (very cheap) the acid solution I make with sulfuric acid diluted in distilled water, be very careful always add the sulfuric to the water and never the water to the sulfuric acid to read more in my blog allsapphires.com/rhodium-plating/

Even after you learn how to do it, trial and error is still involved and always be willing to learn or add new techniques.
