Would a layer of clear enamel keep the gold from wearing off?
Wonder if this also works on nickel or copper?
Hello, this product only works on silver. Thanks for watching!
@@cooltoolsvideos Thanks, so how do I get the silver on a copper ring?
@@lenny108 We would not recommend adding silver to copper clay. Copper and silver have what’s called a galvanic reaction and the copper will eventually corrode at the connection point.
One hour doesn't seem like a very long time, especially if you are working on larger pieces! Are there other similar products available that last longer?
How do you dispose of the spent pen?
Hello, unfortunately we do not know of any other products that last longer. We did carry a rechargeable plating pen; however, these are no longer being manufactured. Once the pen has been used up you can simply toss it in the trash. Hope this helps!
How irresponsible can you get? Toss it in the trash after a single use? Don’t u feel ANY guilt creating environmental waste! It’s People like you who are ruining the planet. And u couldn’t care less. Unbelievable..
Good question, at least u care enough about the planet to ask her.
Very interesting. Can you use this on silver Metal clay?
+lonetallsassy
Hi, Yes, absolutely! The pendant that Valerie is plating was created with PMC Flex Silver Clay. Have a great day!
Your website link to the 24 carat gold solution MSDS sheet is broken. Please make that visible as it is required by law. Also i want to know which chemical in its composition is requiring you to put the "This product contains a chemical known to the state of California to cause cancer".
Hello, thank you for pointing this out to us. The link is now fixed and you can find the SDS here: www.cooltools.us/v/vspfiles/assets/pdf/GoldPlatingSolutionMSDS.pdf
@@cooltoolsvideos Ok, i think anything hazardous in the composition of a commercial chemical product cannot be held undisclosed under proprietary pretexts. The health of the public is far more important than the business scheming of corporations.
Can you apply multiple coats in order to get a thicker layer of gold?
Hi Wendy, Yes, you can apply additional coats. The gold layers must be clean and without any laquer or sealer. Thanks for your question!
Will it work on most metal alloys, like Tibetan silver or stainless steel?
Hi Teresa, we only recommend using this product on fine silver. Thank you for watching!
If a class ring is to black can it be high lighted and how durable is it ? And how expensive? Thanks
Hi Gloria, we recommend using the gold plating pen on fine silver only. You can find the pen plater here: www.cooltools.us/The-Wizard-Disposable-Pen-Plater-p/gld-500.htm
Have a good day!
Can only metals be plated? I'm wanting to do a titanium Druzy stone. Thanks
Hi Teresa, we recommend plating metal only with this product. Thanks for watching!
Does it work on copper too??
Hi Jonas, This product only woks on Fine Silver. Thank you for your question.
Do you do the oxidizing after the gold?
Hello, we would recommend dabbing the areas of silver you want to oxidize with a q-tip, keeping away from the gold area that has been plated. Hope this helps!
Where can I get the pen and the gold plating solution that you are using. Can you use this system to touch up watch bands?
Hello, you can find the pen and solution here: www.cooltools.us/The-Wizard-Disposable-Pen-Plater-p/gld-500.htm
As long as the watch band is fine silver, yes, you should be able to touch it up with this product.

What is the product you used in the video to lacquer the piece?
Hi Amy, The product used for this project is Nikolas Clear Lacquer #2105. You can purchase this product at your local hobby store. Have a wonderful day!
Thank you so much! All the best.
Oh, dear...you lost me at the lacquer...Nope. Very informational though...thank you for sharing.
Whats wrong with lacquer?
Is this 24 K goldplating pen available in The Netherlands (Europe)?
Hello, this pen is currently unavailable in Europe. Thanks for the question!
if I understand correctly, This pen is for a one time use only, correct? Tnx
Hello, this pen is reusable. For more information here is the link to the product page: www.cooltools.us/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=GLD-500
Have a good day!

How long will/dies the plating last
Hello, the plating should last infinitely as long as it is properly taken care of. It does create a thin layer, so it would be recommended to create additional coats. Hope this helps!
Thanks for the reply. What if i wanted to remove the plating at a later date would that b possible
@@reflex1one Yes, you could polish and sand the the gold plating off.
Hi do you ship your products to the U.K.?
Hello, Yes, we do ship to the U.K. Have a great day!
Just a tip, it might be best to plate a nickel barrier layer onto the silver first, so that the 24K does not migrate into the silver over time.
Where can I get this product?
Hi Lynnea, you can find this product here: www.cooltools.us/The-Wizard-Disposable-Pen-Plater-p/gld-500.htm
Thanks for watching!
When you say the gold is thin, does that mean it will wear off quickly?? How thick can you make it??? Also, what do you mean that you have a full hour. What happens after an hour? Also, why can’t you reuse the tips?.
This process creates a very thin layer of gold called flash plating which is only for decorative purposes. This product is not designed for heavy build. Have a good day!
Will it wear off eventually? Do you only recommend for earring and pendants or can it be used for rings? I’ve see the aura 22 gold liquid that’s fired on, is this similar?
How thick of a plating can you achieve with this?

Why use this method instead of submersion electroplating?
