    How long does the electro-cleaner and the acid neutralizer last after its mixed with the water? Can you store it for later use? For how long?

    • @RioGrande1944
      @RioGrande1944  Před 5 lety

      Hi There, Thanks for your question! These should last about a month or longer. The length of service for them will depend on if they are covered and how often they are used and stored.
      Hope this helps!

    I love your video. I do have a question about electroplating. I electroplate first the setting and then I set the stone? Bending the bezel over the stone will destroy the plating surface? Or can I electroplate with stone in place? Thank you.

    • @RioGrande1944
      @RioGrande1944  Před 4 lety +2

      Great question. It actually depends on the stone. For soft stones like turquoise, lapis and malachite, we would not recommend submerging in any of the solutions for plating. Our Jewelry Tech Team member also suggested being very careful with a pen plater, because soft stones are absorbent and it can cause a color change or staining of the stone. For stones with a Mohs hardness of 7 and above, it is fairly safe (although not all stones have been tested in the plating process). There are a lot of variables that can cause problems with plating. We hope this is helpful!

      @@RioGrande1944 Thank you very much. I really appreciate your answer. So, if I have pearls or other soft stones and I cannot put them in contact with plating chemicals, can I mount them after I plate the metal? Can I bend the prongs or the bezel without hurting too much the plating surface? Thank you.

    • @RioGrande1944
      @RioGrande1944  Před 4 lety

      Yes, it is heated to to 150°F and magnetic stirring is recommended with the electrocleaner. Acid dip does not require heating or agitation though!

    Can I use the first two for yellow, rose and silver then change tye last solution for the desire outcome?

    • @RioGrande1944
      @RioGrande1944  Před 2 lety +1

      With the plating station, you only have 2 stations that are heated. Top left and top right. The Center top is not a heated station and the bottom 3 are not heated. The solution in question do have to be heated in order to react with the metal. When plating it is recommended that you electro clean first and then acid dip. So it would be best to use the last heated station for the plating process

    • @RioGrande1944
      @RioGrande1944  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi There, Thanks for asking. Both Course and Fine adjustment knobs on the current/amp side (left side of the device) will be opened all the way up, that is, counter clockwise all the way. The process of plating is concerned with volts, so this is the setting which is adjusted. You will see amps register when the item is placed in the solution and the circuit is complete. Hope this helps. Thanks again for watching!

      Thanks for your question, Marian! We do sell a complete Midas Plating System; however, due to the hazardous materials you mentioned, this system cannot be shipped internationally. Luckily, there is a 220-volt system without hazardous materials is available by special order. For international special order requests please email us at intl@riogrande.com and a customer service agent will be in touch. We hope this helps!

    • @RioGrande1944
      @RioGrande1944  Před 3 lety

      Hi, sorry to hear that you're having issues. There are a few reasons that this plating might not adhere to your white gold. It may be due to surface cleaning, settings on the rectifier, or the needing a different anode. If you'd like to talk over some specific details you can reach out to Thomas directly at thflores@riogrande.com.

    What I don't get why they call power supply rectifier .. rectifier is a diode bridge that rectify AC to DC which 8s the basis of any AC to DC power supply and all are simply called power supply not rectifier..
