- I designed and built a custom DIY 3D printer enclosure out of plexiglass for my Bambu Lab A1 3D printer. I designed all the files myself using Autodesk Fusion 360 CAD software and cut 1/4 inch acrylic sheets using an X-Carve CNC! The quality of my 3D prints has drastically improved!

How is this so cool and full of experimental spirit channel got only this few subscription? 🔥🔥🔥
Gonna share it out🔥🔥🔥
Heck ya! Let’s Blow this video up! Thanks for the watch and subscribe MP!!
Missed your videos man! This video is rad, solid lighting! Are you done making surfboards? Need another board video!
Hey thanks Gavinnations! Seriously appreciate it! Finished grad school so been crazy busy learning the ropes, but actually just getting the shop in order, have some cool board builds in the works!!
Looks very good. My question is how’s about temperature inside? Bambu lab don’t recommend a enclosure because of not activ cooling on the mainboard.
Very good question, I wouldn’t use an enclosure if the room temp was ambient, but my basement hovers around 55, with the enclosure and the printer running, the temp in the enclosure hovers around 72 which pretty baseline room temp for most people. Long story short, if you have a normal room temp and probably don’t need an enclosure, but works miracles for cold rooms or older gen printers
I heard someone else say they talked to bambu about an enclosure and they where told the cpu wasn't rated for the higher maintained Temps so if your motherboard fries prematurely that's why
can you just put the bottom of the enclosure between the bed and the bottom of the printer? this way you avoid the risk of burning your motherboard.
Did you happen to 3D Print the box corner joints? I would love to try this build and they look great.
Yes sir, designed every piece of the build🙌. Want the files, I’ll pop them on thingiverse and drop a link here
@@RockandSeaGarageBoardShopyeah, totally would love to use them!

I'd wayyyy rather have the ams above the printer to save space. I have it mounted to the wall for now truthfully lol
That would be a cool setup, I’ve seen a few wall mounted AMS’s and they are super cool. Hey I’ve put on hundreds of hours of prints through my A1 mini and now all of a sudden out of nowhere my prints are sucking, nozzle seems fine but can’t think of any other fault in the system. Has this ever happened to you?
I'm considering the A1 mini as my entry to 3d printing but would need heat resistant filaments (main purpose: custom computer case). Does such an enclosure work well enough for ABS / fiber reinforced filaments?
Unfortunately not, you really need to bump up to either the x1c or 01s to print and and carbon fiber reinforced. But you will not regret it. I started on a basic ender 3, very fun but frustrating at times, bambulab makes 3D printing so much easier and stress free especially if your just getting into it!! Auto bed leveling is a game changer and all the other little features that add up and make a night vs day difference
@@RockandSeaGarageBoardShop thanks for responding!

that's a great idea, may have to CAD it up and give it a build! My basement in this vid was super cold, and only got up to low 70's even when printing so I wasn't concerned about it getting burnt out, but just moved back to cali for surf and my printer will definitely get cooked if I leave it enclosed
Not very air tight is it tho? what about the fumes :(
Not airtight and doesn’t have a high enough bed temperature to get into fancy filaments like carbon, ABS and nylon, it really is only good for PLA and PETG which don’t de-gas crazy fumes. It’s not airtight , but does a good job of just keeping it isolated from airflow within the room. It’s a pretty cool budget solution for getting Hugh quality PETG and PLA prints but if you’re trying to fancy stuff definitely upgrade for an extra thousand bucks and get the X1C!
Where does the poop go?
Not going to lie, just dumps onto the floor of the box hahahah, I ought to make a poop catcher
Wtf was that on the printer bed?
😂😂😂 did you catch the end of the vid
@@RockandSeaGarageBoardShop no I didn't, had to go back to work before finishing the video
Oh my gosh hahaha… very sus without seeing the explanation 😂😂🙌. Worth finishing for explanation
Very cool. 🤙🏼
