Regarding TBS SmartAudio in INAV for the Tyro 119 build (MATEKF405 FC). Confirmed on INAV:2.6.1 FC FW:2.5.0 TLDR: Use Softserial 1 and TX4. To enable SoftSerial goto INAV->Configuration -> Other Features -> Enable CPU Based Serial Ports. Then to configure SoftSerial 1 for TBS SmartAudio, after enabling SoftSerial in INAV, goto INAV->Ports -> SOFTSERIAL1 -> Peripherals TBS SmartAudio. Connect your VTX DATA Pin to TX4 on your Flight Controller
It may sound dumb but I really want audio in my RC airplanes because the sound of the motor reacting to my inputs helps a lot with comfortability. That was flying LOS so in making the transition to FPV in medium ranges, Id looovvvee audio.
Hey JB, here's a tip: INAV supports PlusCodes (AKA Open Location Codes). It's a coordinate system that only takes 11 chars on the OSD, almost half of the actual Latitude and Longitude numbers. Google maps supports this format as well. It's very useful to find a lost aircraft. Also, about the SmartAudio problem. INAV 2.4 supports only SmartAudio 1.0 and 2.0, which has power level indexes instead of arbitrary values. Maybe SmartAudio 2.1 support will be added in the upcoming 2.5 version... Maybe not.
I don't know about the knockoffs but smart audio can pass audio on tbs. You have to isolate it from dc with a capacitor but the communication and audio are hooked up to the same pin and separated with a crossover. Tbs didn't want to add extra pins to their camera connectors so the cables would be more compatible.
It's in that video transmitter- Ive had to replace everything but the frame, should have just bought frame & would have saved myself 150/160AUD. Hoping it finally works after 3FC, 2ESCs, two sets of motors & vtx's n next few days using iNav as that is what comes loaded on Matek F405-SE....
Sorry but the weird screwups are a feature not a bug. If the compass had installed correctly, how would I have taught you how to align the compass? If the ESC was installed right-side up, then I wouldn't have had the chance to show you how to fix that problem.

Awesome video man!! hey dude I have a question for you! can you take parts from one drone and put them in another ???like I have a ESC that's good in one drone and in another drone I have flight controller that's good can I take the good components and put them together and if I can is there something special I have to do on betaflight before I can fly it other than the normal process regarding betaflight? the flight controllers I want to use is out of a hawk 5 it's 2s too 4s and my ESC is AIKON AK32 35A 4in1 32 BIT ESC 3s to 6s I'll be so happy if I can make it work
You might have to re pin the connector between the two, make sure everything lines up don't just plug it in you could fry the FC, but yes you can use them together as long as they are both set up for 4 in 1 esc's

It absolutely is worth it. Especially if you are flying long range. It provides a lot of confidence that (when set up correctly) will get you out of the shit when something goes wrong. You can do things that would normally result in a lost quad/wing etc, without good GPS automation.

Question, I’m building a 6” inav 2.6.1 build using a matek f722 hd with a 880 gps both from rdq. I have it all setup and calibrated in inav and getting 13 sats in the basement. When I go to the gps tab in inav, maps doesn’t show up. This I sent my first build so I connected an older inav build and maps showed right up. Is there anything I’m missing or a setting or is inav 2.6.1 buggy. Also I will try and reach out to rdq tech support as do I maybe have a faulty gps or f7. Thanks and any help would be appreciated.
Not only am I old enough to remember a pre-TV remote time in the world, but in our house, I WAS the TV remote! Question; is it possible to have VTX power set to a switch that can be used during flight nin either BF or iNav? Then it would be possible to have it sitting pre-armed WITHOUT cooking the VTX in pit or 25mw mode & switch to a higher power when armed....

@@JoshuaBardwell ok.I havent tryed using betaflight to config them..i just know that you cant change channel/power settings from your control when out flying.it has to be somthing wrong with all the vtx's as the tyro i brought a year ago wouldnt work when i tryed..and also the tyros i got a few months back dont work so it may be a whole batch of vtx's as why else would they have the data line..its a shame

I hope you test out the GPS functions that Betaflight doesn't support. Waiting to see if playing around with iNav is worth the effort.

It’s weird that Smart Audio works with that VTX in Betaflight, but not in iNav...

Unfortunately, no. Betaflight doesn't support vTX output power on a switch.

Odd, smart audio works fine with the same (supposedly) VTX using INAV 2.2.1 -- I also suspect a bug in the code.

Those vtx's dont do smart auideo at all as i have three of them and have to switch them manually
It worked for me on Betaflight 4.1 though. And on iNav, if I used the Configuration tab.
