      Hit Colorado after USAF service at Minot AFB, ND. After 9 years . . . I immigrated east, to New England. Ran Pikes Peak Marathon - 14,110 feet . . . Pursued an Outward Bound course above Leadville, in the Collegiate Peaks . . . in the dead, of winter. Pursued my fitness through membership with the Rocky Mountain Road Runners . . . ran such national races as the Bolder Boulder, Governors Cup 10k & Dallas White Rock Marathon. All in all . . . I achieved, that 'Rocky Mountain High' !

      @Evie CD, what was your brother’s name? I have some family friends in Fraser that finished a 14er for a friend that couldn’t finish due to passing from cancer. Glad he got some good climbing in. RIP.

    Came across your channel through the algorithm, and I like your awesome hikes and videography! Thanks for sharing your trip up Maroon. All that loose rock and scree fields. Not to mention the route finding. A real mental drain managing great execution on the footwork and then problem solving the route. Well done, sir, and no need to apologize about the slow pace… 😊

    2:18 was actually the point where I was lost on the way back. Had to use alltrails to get back on trail and did some class 4 moves in the process. Scary. Don't do it alone like I did. Doesn't help that its a 45 degree slope on the way down either! Knees were hurting!!

    • @FoorTrek
      @FoorTrek  Před rokem

      It is quite easy to get lost on Maroon. As I stated in the video, I also got lost not too much further past where you did. Glad you made it safely. It's a tough hike!

    Great work! I did N. Maroon to Maroon traverse in 2012. Unfortunately someone died the day we climbed. I am now in the Adirondacks and going to do Marcy this week. I watched your video on it! Happy hiking and climbing and stay safe.

    @FoorYourSuccess, Your photography is breathtaking. What kind of camera were you using to take impressive screening, I really didn't see one blur effect. It was sharp and clear. I loved the video, the viewing is really sharp looking. I love that I can see the intricate detail of depth and close-ups. However nice job and that's one hell of a camera you have. I'm originally from Illinois, currently living in Kansas, which is still central time for me. I see a lot of plateau, farm lands and went to visit Colorado Springs, Colorado, in July.
    Seeing mountains for the first time, I was in awe. Loved the view of something more large at scale. It was gorgeous and I can actually state, I don't ever think I'll ever get tired of looking at the scale of these mountains. Hiking was something I did enjoy as a teenager and into my late 20's. Now I'm in my early 40's and now need to lose the weight and back get back in shape. However thanks again for show what you were experiencing!

      You're most welcome and thanks for the lovely comments. My camera? At the time, iPhoneXSMax. Nearly all my videos are from an iPhone! The key is to move slowly and enjoy the views. :-) We're in 2021. The time has begun to start getting in shape. The mountains are calling and summer will be here soon!

  • @markb3806
    @markb3806 Před 4 lety +1

    Thanks. I've climbed all the fourteeners but Little Bear and the 5 difficult Elk Range peaks (only climbed Castle). South Maroon looks like it could be a real pain in bad weather and the sheer length of the climb might increase the chance encountering a T-storm. Rather than start at Maroon Lakes, do you think it could be possible to backpack into Fravert Basin, camp and come up the west side of the peak to intersect the gully system you used? That could shorten the ascent. I'd love to climb the peak but 5 hours is a long ascent and could put one into bad weather in some really tough terrain.

    • @FoorTrek
      @FoorTrek  Před 4 lety

      Hi Mark. It's possible, but the distance would be the same or more. It's best to pick a bluebird day or camp and get a day with low chance of precip. Others have better experience on Maroon. Mine wasn't the best, but I'm happy to share my experience.

    • @FoorTrek
      @FoorTrek  Před 4 lety

      Yes, all three (Maroon, North Maroon, and Pyramid) are very difficult. Maroon had the hardest route finding for me approaching the summit. Mud actually helped with grip for me.
